Nirvana Members + Paul McCartney Release Studio Version of ‘Cut Me Some Slack’

Sound City For everyone out there who was blown away by surviving Nirvana members Dave Grohl , Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear  jamming with Beatles icon Paul McCartney at the ’12-12-12′ Hurricane Sandy benefit show, we’ve got some good news for you! The song performed by the collective, ‘Cut Me Some Slack,’ is now available on iTunes. The incredibly raw track has a strong Nirvana vibe to it, while adding a splash of Sir Paul’s personality and heavier Beatles songs such as ‘Helter Skelter.’ The unlikely collaboration was recorded for Dave Grohl’s highly anticipated ‘Sound City’ documentary, which is set for a February 2013 premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. The flick will become available simultaneously through video-on-demand services as the Sundance projector starts to roll. At first, McCartney simply thought he was jamming with Grohl and some random musicians, unknowingly finding himself in the middle of a partial Nirvana reunion. “I didn’t really know who they were,” begins McCartney. “They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said, ‘Whoa? You guys haven’t played together for all that time?’ And somebody whispered to me, ‘That’s Nirvana. You’re Kurt.’ I couldn’t believe it.” Expectations were high when the public learned that an original song was composed by the group, but when McCartney, Grohl, Novoselic and Smear took the stage at ’12-12-12,’ the worldwide audience knew that they were witnessing something remarkable. The documentary’s soundtrack, ‘Sound City – Real to Reel,’ will see a March 12 release, but ‘Cut Me Some Slack’ is already available to purchase via iTunes . Go buy it! Papa Roach Unveil ‘Where Did the Angels Go’ Video

Photo by Chris Konigsmayr Papa Roach are definitely as hot as ever and audiences get a glimpse of that with the band’s latest video for ‘Where Did The Angels Go.’ The song is the latest single off the group’s ‘ The Connection ‘ album and you can definitely feel the sparks flying. The video finds the band performing inside what appears to be a rundown industrial warehouse, though the artwork for ‘The Connection’ hangs suspiciously in the background. The group deliver a high-adrenaline performance of the song as the camera work uses quick cuts, shaky movement and bright and dark lighting to give the video a more jarring feel. The final effect is the usage of sparks flying and fire breaking out on certain instruments that show exactly how hot this performance is. ‘Where Did the Angels Go’ is off to a solid start for the band and it’s currently doing battle in Loudwire’s Cage Match . The song should become one of the band’s live favorites. The group has been enjoying a European tour with Stone Sour over the last month, giving them their first chance to test out the music from their new album since Jacoby Shaddix’s vocal surgery this summer. Papa Roach and Stone Sour will return to the States early next year  for a co-headlining North American tour. Cro-Mags Founder Harley Flanagan’s Assault and Weapons Case Dismissed

CroMags.com Assault and weapons charges against  Cro-Mags founder and former bassist Harley Flanagan have been dismissed, reports the website New York Natives . The charges resulted from a melee that took place at the CBGBs Festival back in July, with Flanagan and members of the band’s current lineup coming to blows and a knife fight factoring into the legalities. In a video interview seen below, Flanagan states, “I’m very glad to have all this behind me … It wasn’t until I was in the hospital that I realized that I was the one getting charged with attacking them, which was a surprise to me. I thought we were all going to get charged with having a fight or whatever. I didn’t see how it could make sense that one person could attack a room full of people. It didn’t make sense then and it makes no sense now, cause it just didn’t happen and that’s basically why I’m getting off today is because they had a lot people making statements then saying that I did this and I did that, but it all started falling apart because they were all giving conflicting statements.” At the time, it was reported that Flanagan allegedly assaulted bassist Michael Couls and another victim, William Berario, at the festival with a hunting knife. Stone Sour + Mastodon Join 2013 Download Festival Lineup

Adam Bettcher / Ethan Miller, Getty Images The Download Festival has done it again, putting together one of the best music lineups in recent memory, especially if you’re a hard rock and metal fan. The 2013 event, which runs June 14-16 at Donington Park in the U.K., just increased the awesomeness of its  already stellar lineup by adding Stone Sour and Mastodon . For Stone Sour, this marks the second major festival of 2013 where Corey Taylor will get to pull double duty (the other is Ozzfest Japan ), as his other band,  Slipknot , have been confirmed as one of Download’s headliners. Stone Sour have been building extra buzz from their ‘House of Gold & Bones, Pt. 1′ album and their European tour with Papa Roach . As an extra little gift for fans, by the time Stone Sour return to Download, ‘House of Gold & Bones, Pt. 2′ will be in stores. The status of Mastodon by the time that Download comes around is a bit murkier. Brent Hinds recently revealed that while the band is enjoying supporting their 2011 album, ‘The Hunter,’ they actually have a good start making music for their next effort, possibly using some of early 2013 to lay down tracks. Depending on how they progress, the band will either still be promoting ‘The Hunter’ or potentially gearing up for a new release. The three-day event will have Slipknot, Iron Maiden and Rammstein as the headlining bands for the individual days. Other acts set to play Download include Bullet for My Valentine , Queens of the Stone Age , 30 Seconds to Mars , Motorhead , the Gaslight Anthem , Alice in Chains , A Day to Remember , H.I.M. , Volbeat and the reunited Coal Chamber . More bands are expected to be revealed in the weeks and months leading up to the festival. For ticketing information on the 2013 Download Festival, please check here .
