Dimitrios Kambouris, Getty Images With the recent release of ‘Rage Against the Machine – XX,’ the 20th anniversary edition of Rage Against the Machine ‘s self-titled debut disc, fans had plenty of reason to celebrate in hopes that it marked only the beginning of fresh new things to come from the band. However, guitarist Tom Morello has squashed that dream for now, even going so far to say that the band may never play together again at all. Say it isn’t so, Tom! In a new interview with Rolling Stone , the Rage guitarist gave his honest assessment on the current status of the band and what the future holds. “Whether or not we ever play music again in any capacity is unknown,” Morello said. “I’m grateful for the music we played together, and thank goodness the cameras were rolling.” Morello made it very clear that the resilience to record new music and tour is not coming from him directly. “If it were up to me, I would’ve made two records a year,” Morello confided. “As it is, we have just three records of original material over 20 years.” He also talked about what he hoped the anniversary release might spawn, explaining, “It was my great hope that we’d celebrate the 20th anniversary with a five-continent world tour.” Without a tour in sight, Morello is still grateful about everything the box set stands for and hopes that in addition to making longtime fans happy that it will turn on some new fans as well. “The reason why we’re doing this is very clear and simple: it’s for our fans, which I believe are the single most dedicated, wild in concert, and patient fans maybe in the history of rock music,” said Morello.“It was past due that we really did something that honored their commitment to us over the course of 20 years.” While this might not breed a lot of hope for a future Rage Against the Machine tour, the idea is always on the table. “Once a year, the band meets and very seriously discusses and turns down awesome offers to tour the world,” admitted Morello. “That’s part of the program.” Morello doesn’t seem to harbor any resentment regarding the frustrating situation though, he considers his Rage bandmates family, “I love them,” he said. “I consider them brothers and brothers-in-arms.” [button href=”http://loudwire.com/best-rage-against-the-machine-songs/” title=”10 Best Rage Against the Machine Songs” align=”center”]

October 5th, 2012 Metalkult Epic Lamb of God ‘s Randy Blythe free from a Czech prison and the band ready to shred through the United States once again. The ‘Pure American Metal’ act is embarking on a fall 2012 U.S. tour and have asked fans who are or have been in the U.S. military to send in their photos for a patriotic tribute, which will be shown during performances by Lamb of God during the trek. Due to Randy Blythe’s current legal situation in the Czech Republic, Lamb of God are not currently able to tour outside their homeland of the United States, so to commemorate the men and women of the U.S. military, Lamb of God will compile a mound of photos for this new video project. The group is also asking for photos of soldiers who were killed in action to be a part of the compilation, which will be directed by Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton. Lamb of God released the following call to action: Lamb of God is looking to honor the brave men and women of our United States military by incorporating soldier’s names and faces into a video presentation during their upcoming U.S. tour. If you are in the military, or have a husband, wife, brother, sister, friend or family member who has served or is actively serving, and wish to be included in this video tribute, please take a moment to send a photo to logvideocontent@gmail.com . Please keep the photos under 2MB and include the soldier’s name, military branch, and a brief description of where the soldier is serving or has served. The band is asking for photos of soldiers killed in action, those actively serving, and those who have completed their service to our country. This presentation will be directed by Lamb of God lead guitarist Mark Morton and longtime Lamb of God videographer Doug Spangenberg, and will be seen by tens of thousands of people over the course of Lamb of God’s upcoming U.S. tour. September 20th, 2012 Metalkult Jo Hale, Getty Images Over the course of his illustrious career, Duff McKagan has been in a lot of bands — and he touched on pretty much all of them during a recent interview with FasterLouder , looking back on his stints with Guns N’ Roses and Neurotic Outsiders while looking ahead to his future with Loaded , as well as weighing in on where Velvet Revolver might be headed. “I have no idea,” McKagan admitted when asked where the search is at in the effort to replace Scott Weiland in the band’s long-vacant lead singer slot. “I think it’s at nowhere. I think everybody just kind of got sick of talking about it, because there’s really no guy, so there’s nothing that me or Slash or Matt [Sorum] or Dave [Kushner] could say that would change the course of this question. So there’s nobody now, I think the longer that Slash is out touring, and that I’m out touring, people will stop asking as much. Maybe once it’s settled down, we’ll find the guy.” Asked which of his bands he’s most proud of, McKagan diplomatically responded, “I’m just proud of the fact people will still come and see me play. I don’t know if there’s one band in particular. I think just the whole arc has been jaw dropping for me, really. I’m proud of it all.” That includes his split from Jane’s Addiction , which he says happened because his tenure was always “more to service that band … for a minute.” He added, “It’s weird for me, a guy who’s always started his own bands, it’s kinda hard to come into a band with a 20-plus year history and try and fit in.” As for his current group Loaded, it sounds like McKagan is just out having fun; as he noted at one point during the interview, “If you see me doing something, I like doing it. … Rock ‘n’ roll doesn’t pay all the bills for sure.
