Bradley Kanaris, Getty Images Although Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe has spoken out multiple times about his arrest in the Czech Republic for manslaughter, along with his proclamation of innocence, Blythe has been relatively quiet since his return to American soil in August. Certainly overwhelmed by both media and fan support, Blythe articulated much about his experience in a brand new interview. Sitting down with WTVR-TV, the CBS affiliate based in Blythe’s home town of Richmond, Va., the vocalist revealed that the United States Department of Justice was indeed informed by the Czech government that Blythe was under investigation for manslaughter stemming from a 2010 concert incident. “The Czech government apparently contacted our government and said, ‘Hey, this guy [Blythe]; we want to investigate him,’ and the Justice Department did not cooperate.” Blythe continues, “I don’t think the Czechs were too pleased about that. I’m not too pleased about that. And the least they could’ve done is, if they aren’t going to cooperate, fine, at least let me know I’m wanted for manslaughter in the Czech Republic. We had no idea. As Blythe has stated in the past, he will not run from these charges or hide out in the United States. “I feel ethically responsible to go back there and face this charge,” declares Blythe. [The victim’s] family right now is in a lot of pain, and they deserve some answers. To lose a child is the worst possible thing a human can go through. I want my name cleared. I have to go around the world and tour, you know? That’s what I do. I’m not going to hide here. I’m an innocent man. I’m going to go to court and see what happens.” Lamb of God are set to embark on an extensive U.S. tour with In Flames , Hatebreed and Sylosis . Hellyeah will also be hopping on board for select dates. NightwishWine.com Finnish symphonic metal masters Nightwish have been working on a film to complement their ‘Imaginaerum’ album, which was released to critical acclaim. Along with a new trailer for the movie, Nightwish have just announced that they will be creating Imaginaerum wine to bring the experience to a completely new sense. Even with the recent departure of singer Anette Olzon , the direction of Nightwish’s ‘Imaginaerum’ projects has gone unhindered. “We are proud to present a new Nightwish item, Imaginaerum wine ,” begins keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen. “Imaginaerum is the most imaginative wine on the planet. It’s inspired by otherworldly splendours, moments of wonderment and the joyous sound of laughter with a hint of campfire poetry, music of the spheres, and the long, smooth, star-filled finish of Lucid Dreams. It is a wine best enjoyed with the ones you hold dear. Cheers and enjoy!” Winemaking is no easy business, and it would be easy to simply bottle some sort of rushed and half-assed product, but Nightwish have taken the task very seriously. The grapes used for the wine were up to 100 years old and gave off super intensive aromas before spending 14 months in small barrels made of French oak. As for the newest ‘Imaginaerum’ movie trailer, the finished promo looks absolutely phenomenal, delivering some incredibly eye-gasmic cinematography. “Basically [the film is] about this old guy who use to be a composer and he’s really sick,” Holopainen told us in an exclusive interview . “He’s lying on his death bed in a hospital and he’s going through his life, through his dreams — that’s the basic story line. It’s all about praising life and life’s beauty, imagination and all the strife and the bad stuff we have to face.” The first bottling of Imaginaerum wine is set to take place this week, and the ‘Imaginaerum’ film is set to be released in Finland on Nov. 23. Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Even though their tour stopped in New York City a couple of weeks shy of Halloween, the ‘Twins of Evil’ made fans feel like it was indeed All Hallow’s Eve. Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson put together two blistering sets at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom on Wednesday, Oct. 17. With Manson taking the stage first, the entire venue was buzzing about the recent feud between the evil twins. Throughout a set that included brand new songs like ‘No Reflection’ and ‘Slo-Mo-Tion,’ and fan favorites like ‘The Dope Show,’ ‘mOBSCENE’ and ‘The Beautiful People,’ Manson never mentioned his touring partner or the beef between them. Manson and his band performed for a solid 80 minutes with no complaints. With half of the show complete, fans still weren’t convinced the feud was over. But much like Manson’s set, Zombie never took any swipes. In fact, at one point, Zombie referred to Manson and his band as his “touring friends.” Zombie opened the night with ‘Jesus Frankenstein’ and followed it with blow-after-blow, including ‘Meet the Creeper,’ ‘Scum of the Earth,’ ‘Sick Bubblegum’ and a short cover of Alice Cooper’s ‘School’s Out.’ With or without a quarrel, the twins delivered a memorable show. From Manson’s huge light set-up that at one time flashed the word ‘DRUGS’ to Zombie’s gigantic devil that rocked out to John 5′s signature guitar solo, fans in New York City were given an early Halloween treat last night. Both frontmen seemed to be giving 110% during their sets, running around onstage and interacting with the audience. As fans walked out of the venue, there was no question that they just enjoyed one of the best Halloween celebrations of their lives, even if it was a couple of weeks early. The evening was opened up by DJ Starscream (aka Sid Wilson of Slipknot), who got the crowd ready for a night of mayhem. He even used portions of some Slipknot tracks in a few of his mixes. Michael Loccisano, Getty Images Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea made sure that his 50th birthday would be one that he and all of his guests would remember as he opened up his backyard for a concert-fundraiser to benefit his Silver Lake Conservatory music school. Flea told Rolling Stone prior to the performance, “For this to happen on my 50th birthday is the best gift I could ever hope to receive.” Flea joined his Red Hot Chili Peppers bandmates for a set that headlined the night, while he called upon his old friends in Rancid to serve as the opening act. The selection of Rancid to play the backyard fundraiser was no coincidence, as singer singer-guitarist Tim Armstrong has a history with the Silver Lake Conservatory. Flea explained, “Tim studied there. He took lessons there – he was taking flamenco or something. Tim’s cool and those guys showed up. They played for us before, paid for everything, gave us all the merch, everything. Those guys are so generous – they’re like walking the walk, dude.” Ben Harper also made a surprise appearance during the evening, altering his cover of ‘Hallelujah’ to ‘Happy Birthday’ while a giant birthday cake in the form of a stand-up bass was presented to Flea. The bassist was overwhelmed not only from the birthday wishes, but for the support shown his school. He explained, “A big part of my life is music education because it changed my life — but arts, academics and athletics should all be equally treated in schools. There are different kinds of kids and those three things are vital towards the next generation of kids coming up to be happy, productive good citizens.” Finishing out the evening, Red Hot Chili Peppers took the stage for a nine-song set that began with ‘Can’t Stop’ and wrapped up with ‘By the Way.’ A cover of Neil Young ‘s ‘Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere’ also found its way into the performance. The bassist stated before the final track, “It’s been kind of an overwhelming experience for me. It feels really meaningful and poignant to have everybody come out and support.” Red Hot Chili Peppers Flea’s 50th Birthday Bash Setlist: ‘Can’t Stop’ ‘Snow (Hey Oh)’ ‘Monarchy of Roses’ ‘Soul to Squeeze’ ‘The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie’ ‘Right on Time’ ‘Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere’ ‘Give It Away’ ‘By the Way’ [button href=”http://loudwire.com/10-best-red-hot-chili-peppers-songs/” title=”Next: Top 10 Red Hot Chili Peppers Songs” align=”center”]
Kevin Winter / Frazer Harrison, Getty Images Sammy Hagar knows how to throw a bash, and it helps when you make sure that Alice in Chains singer-guitarist Jerry Cantrell is on the guest list. Cantrell made a guest appearance at Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Cantina (Oct. 13) to take part in Hagar’s 65th birthday celebration. As it was Hagar’s special night, he was able to invite Cantrell onstage and jam through the Alice in Chains’ classic ‘Man in the Box.’ Also joining in the fun on the song was Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum , who kept the beat chugging along. While Hagar may not quite reach the vocal power of the late Layne Staley during the performance (quite honestly, who can?), Cantrell appears to be on par with a blistering guitar solo and some swampy licks. The track met with rousing approval from the crowd and Hagar went in for the embrace with Cantrell after the song was complete. Cantrell has been quiet musically for most of the year. He was honored at the MusiCares MAP Fund benefit back in May and recently turned up to induct Heart into the Hollywood Walk of Fame last month. However, after a break to have shoulder surgery following last album’s tour cycle, Cantrell has been working with Alice in Chains again on a new album .
