Guns N’ Roses Announced as Third Headliner of New York’s Governors Ball Festival

Chris McKay, Getty Images New York’s annual Governors Ball festival recently revealed its lineup for the 2013 event, and it’s an eclectic mix of primarily indie rock bands and hip-hop acts. But there was one headliner not announced that remained a mystery. Organizers have now filled in that rather conspicuous blank with legendary rockers Guns N’ Roses . The veteran outfit will take their stage show to Randall’s Island park in New York, where they’ll share the spotlight over the June 7-9 three-day weekend with fellow headliners Kings of Leon and Kanye West . The festival will be the band’s first major North American show since their Las Vegas residency and the Neil Young Bridge School benefit last fall. The Governors Ball festival is primarily indie-rock leaning, with GN’R serving as the primary hard rock option for festival-goers. Along with the headliners, fans can also catch the Avett Brothers, Grizzly Bear, Feist, The xx, Best Coast, Animal Collective, Gary Clark Jr., Kendrick Lamar, Nas and more. For ticketing and full lineup details on the Governors Ball festival, check here . Guns N’ Roses have used some of their recent downtime to continue work on a 3D concert film that’s expected later this year. The band is also heading to Australia for a handful of March performances . Marilyn Manson Collapses Onstage in Canada

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Marilyn Manson has been known to heighten the shock value at shows, but what happens when the “shock” is unintentional? During a show in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on Wednesday night (Feb. 6), Manson collapsed and vomited onstage in the midst of the fan-favorite track ‘The Beautiful People.’ According to the  Ottawa Citizen , the vocalist was rocking just like normal during the performance, then went down to one knee, which seemed like a traditional rock star move to get closer to the audience, but as seen in the video below, he falls to the stage and begins to vomit. The band kept rocking along as if everything was okay, but after a brief period members of Manson’s road crew made their way to the stage and carried the singer off. ‘The Beautiful People’ is Manson’s usual set-closer, so it is assumed that it would have been the last song of the night. During the show, Manson performed a mixture of new songs (‘Hey Cruel World,’ ‘No Reflection’) and classics (‘mOBSCENE,’ ‘Personal Jesus,’ ‘Sweet Dreams’ and ‘The Dope Show’). At press time, an update on Manson’s condition has not been released and it is not known how this will affect his current itinerary . Update: TMZ reports that Manson was suffering from the flu. Ghost B.C. Unveil ‘Infestissumam’ Release Date + 2013 North American Tour With Ides of Gemini

Swedish heavy metal band Ghost (now known as Ghost B.C. in the U.S. because of legal issues) have not only announced their name change, but also the release date of their upcoming full-length ‘Infestissumam’ along with a North American tour. Ghost B.C. have been building a cult-like fan base since the release of their 2010 debut album, ‘Opus Eponymous.’ The band comprises various nameless ghouls and spiritual leader Papa Emeritus II, performing conceptualized Satanic church music mixed as a unique and soulfully evil mass. Although Papa Emeritus contributed vocals to the first Ghost B.C. album, he was usurped by his successor onstage during a recent performance in Sweden. Ghost B.C. are shaping up to be one of this year’s definitive bands. With a tremendous underground thirst for new material, fans of Ghost B.C. were blown away by the band’s single ‘ Secular Haze ‘ from the group’s upcoming sophomore full-length, ‘ Infestissumam ,’ which will come out April 9 on Loma Vista Recordings. The album will be unleashed just in time for Ghost B.C.’s upcoming dates, which will certainly prove to be one of this year’s most anticipated tours. Taking atmospheric heavy metal / doom act Ides of Gemini with them, Ghost B.C. will embark on their ‘Haze Over North America’ tour beginning April 12 at the 2013 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. Ghost B.C. will reveal their theatrical and pious stage show to North America this year for the first time since supporting Opeth and Mastodon in 2012. The Used Bring Vigorous Show to New York City

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire The foundation at Best Buy Theater was tested last night as fans jumped to the music of The Used , We Came As Romans , Crown the Empire and Mindflow for the Take Action Tour. The crowd went crazy as Used frontman Bert McCracken and his crew took the stage. Fans sang along to well known favorites such as ‘The Taste of Ink,’ ‘Take It Away,’ ‘I Caught Fire,’ ’All That I’ve Got’ and, of course, ‘A Box Full of Sharp Objects.’ McCracken addressed the crowd about his sobriety, and his revitalized force showed onstage as he sounded flawless. They also performed tracks off of their latest disc ‘Vulnerable,’ including‘I Come Alive,’ ‘Put Me Out,’ ‘Hands and Faces’ and ‘Now That You’re Dead.’ The crowd fed off of the energy of the band and it’s no wonder why the Used have maintained such a strong fanbase and powerful presence for well over a decade. Speaking of powerful presence, We Came As Romans rocked the house as crowd surfers made their way to the front while circle pits started up in the back. Vocalists Kyle Pavone and Dave Stephens ended the set by making their way into the crowd and handing their mics to some diehard fans for their voices to be heard. Crown The Empire, hailing from Dallas, and Brazillian metallers Mindflow kicked off the energetic night. For remaining dates where you can catch the Take Action tour, go here . Swedish Rockers Avatar Unleash ‘Freak Show’ in New York City

Chuck Armstrong, Loudwire On Jan. 30, 2013, history was made for the Swedish hard rock band, Avatar . Filling the basement of New York City’s Webster Hall, known as The Studio, Avatar played their first show on US soil since their inception in 2001. Playing a 10-song set, the guys from Sweden set the bar high for their upcoming tour with Sevendust and Lacuna Coil , which kicks off on Feb. 1 in Greenville, S.C. Being their first show in the States, most in attendance weren’t quite sure what to expect. As lead singer Johannes Eckerström came out onstage in a full-leather outfit, including a leather hood, Avatar tore into ‘Let Us Die’ from their latest album, ‘Black Waltz.’ The bar was set for the rest of the night. Blistering rock pummeled The Studio at Webster Hall as Avatar ripped through song after song, leaving no time for anyone to catch their breath. The highlight of the night came with the final song in the set, ‘Smells Like a Freak Show.’ With the video debuting recently on Loudwire , it was easy to see the band was excited to unveil the tune on U.S. soil. The energy onstage bled through to the crowd as fans were singing along and banging their heads to the infectious rhythm. If Avatar’s debut in America is any sign of what’s to come, don’t miss your chance to see the Swedish rockers opening for Sevendust and Lacuna Coil. You won’t be disappointed. Orgy Announce Dates for 2013 ‘Wide Awake and Dead’ North American Tour

Orgymusic.com Orgy  continue their return to the music scene, as the band just revealed dates for their 2013 ‘Wide Awake and Dead’ North American tour. The trek launches March 2 in Phoenix and continues through an April 2 finale in Lincolnshire, Illinois. Joining Orgy on the tour will be upstart acts Vampires Everywhere and Davey Suicide. In late 2010, Orgy’s original lineup underwent a shakeup with singer Jay Gordon retaining the rights to the name and restocking the band with new musicians. In the time since, Gordon and new Orgy members Nic Speck (bass), Jamie Miller (drums), Carlton Bost and Ashburn Miller (guitars) have sparingly toured and ducked into the studio to record the recent single, ‘ Grime of the Century .’ The band also released a video for the track last fall. In the downtime between touring, the group has been working on a new album and while details have yet to be revealed on the forthcoming disc, the return to the road is a good sign that more music may be coming from the band fairly soon.
