Flyleaf + Drowning Pool To Showcase New Vocalists on 2013 U.S. Tour

Facebook: Flyleaf / Facebook: Drowning Pool Two rock bands will put their newly chosen singers vocalists on display when they team up for a 2013 tour. Earlier this year, Flyleaf announced that Kristen May would front the band, taking over for Lacey Sturm who left after recording of the group’s ‘ New Horizons ‘ album. Meanwhile, Drowning Pool are touring in support of their first album with new frontman Jasen Moreno . The as-yet-untitled disc just yielded the single ‘ Saturday Night .’ The trek launches Feb. 21 in Philadelphia and runs for a full month through March 24. Flyleaf guitarist Sameer Bhattacharya says, “We’re excited for everyone to experience Kristen May’s powerful and inspiring voice as she joins us onstage.” Bassist Pat Seals adds, “I can’t wait for these new songs to happen live for both longtime and new fans.” Drowning Pool guitarist CJ Pierce adds about the tour, “We’re excited as hell to get back out on the road and hang with our fellow Texas rockers Flyleaf. We’ve done some radio shows together in the past but this will be our first real run together. I know Flyleaf has a great new lineup and some amazing new tunes. We’ll be playing a killer mix of songs from our catalogue and some new tunes as well. Looking forward to rocking out with everyone.” In addition to ‘Saturday Night,’ Drowning Pool also served up a preview track called ‘One Finger and a Fist’ during the WWE Slammy Awards earlier this week. The Devil Wears Prada + As I Lay Dying Join Forces for 2013 Marathon Metalcore Tour

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire It was a massive year for The Devil Wears Prada and As I Lay Dying , as both bands played 2012′s extremely successful Mayhem tour over the summer. And now the two acts will continue the momentum with a 2013 co-headlining North American trek dubbed the ‘Marathon Metalcore Tour.’ The Devil Wears Prada will trek around the States and Canada in support of their latest album, 2011′s ‘Dead Throne,’ while As I Lay Dying will be touring behind their sixth studio album, 2012′s ‘Awakened.’ The two bands are no strangers, especially since As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis was the guest vocalist on the Devil Wears Prada track ‘Constance’ off of ‘Dead Throne.’ Perhaps we will see Lambesis grace the stage with TDWP vocalist Mike Hranica to perform the tune live? The announcements are only a couple of weeks in at this point, but already the Black Dahlia Murder will join I See Stars , Like Moths to Flames and Stick to Your Guns as some of the hardest rocking acts the festival has seen. Black Dahlia Murder vocalist Trevor Strnad says of their participation: “We in the Black Dahlia Murder look forward to seeing you and your friend’s fancy haircuts this summer at the Van’s Warped Tour. This time, we shall be the freaks … the sore thumb poking at your eyeball. We are proud to be the fastest, craziest, and most evil band that has ever played Warped Tour … hundreds of bands will enter, one band will leave. Us. Stone Sour + Mastodon Join 2013 Download Festival Lineup

Adam Bettcher / Ethan Miller, Getty Images The Download Festival has done it again, putting together one of the best music lineups in recent memory, especially if you’re a hard rock and metal fan. The 2013 event, which runs June 14-16 at Donington Park in the U.K., just increased the awesomeness of its  already stellar lineup by adding Stone Sour and Mastodon . For Stone Sour, this marks the second major festival of 2013 where Corey Taylor will get to pull double duty (the other is Ozzfest Japan ), as his other band,  Slipknot , have been confirmed as one of Download’s headliners. Stone Sour have been building extra buzz from their ‘House of Gold & Bones, Pt. 1′ album and their European tour with Papa Roach . As an extra little gift for fans, by the time Stone Sour return to Download, ‘House of Gold & Bones, Pt. 2′ will be in stores. The status of Mastodon by the time that Download comes around is a bit murkier. Brent Hinds recently revealed that while the band is enjoying supporting their 2011 album, ‘The Hunter,’ they actually have a good start making music for their next effort, possibly using some of early 2013 to lay down tracks. Depending on how they progress, the band will either still be promoting ‘The Hunter’ or potentially gearing up for a new release. The three-day event will have Slipknot, Iron Maiden and Rammstein as the headlining bands for the individual days. Other acts set to play Download include Bullet for My Valentine , Queens of the Stone Age , 30 Seconds to Mars , Motorhead , the Gaslight Anthem , Alice in Chains , A Day to Remember , H.I.M. , Volbeat and the reunited Coal Chamber . More bands are expected to be revealed in the weeks and months leading up to the festival. For ticketing information on the 2013 Download Festival, please check here . Paul McCartney + Nirvana Members Perform New Song ‘Cut Me Some Slack’ at 12-12-12 Concert

Ben Pruchnie, Getty Images / Twitter: Krist Novoselic Throughout the 12-12-12 Concert for Sandy Relief at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, a monumental bulk of talent occupied the grand stage. During the charitable event, which lasted for over five hours, legendary artists such as Bruce Springsteen, the Who and the Rolling Stones performed for a worldwide audience, but the true highlight of the night was the collaboration between Beatles legend  Paul McCartney  and  Nirvana members Dave Grohl , Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear (touring member) on the new song ’Cut Me Some Slack.’ Earlier in the day, there were rumors that McCartney would be singing the late Kurt Cobain’s parts for some Nirvana covers, but the collective instead performed an original track that they had written during an impromptu jam session . Bassist Krist Novoselic tweeted earlier that the song was “kind of ‘Helter Skelter’ meets ‘Scentless Apprentice.’ It rocks with a heavy groove. St. Paul is powerful.” Novoselic also tweeted out the above photo of himself with Grohl and Smear. ‘Helter Skelter’ ended up being the first song Sir Paul played as he finally to, followed by ‘Let Me Roll It,’ ‘Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five’ and ‘Blackbird’ among others before the one-time Nirvana musicians joined the Beatles legend. Throughout the 12-12-12 show, the official Foo Fighters Twitter page had been posting pictures of single letters in succession, eventually spelling out, “Cut Me Some Slack.” Rocking an electric ukelele and a glass guitar slide, McCartney showcased his trademark howl in the new track ‘Cut Me Some Slack,’ which mixed a heavy Nirvana sound with a ‘Helter Skelter’ attitude. The band was so incredibly tight, you would have sworn that the group were playing together for years. Grohl, in particular, was a beast on the drums. (Watch a clip of the performance below.) The song was genuinely mind-blowing, and the good news is that it will be the first cut on the soundtrack to Dave Grohl’s ‘Sound City’ documentary, according to a Foo Fighters tweet after the performance. Before McCartney’s performance with the members of Nirvana, the audience was gifted with the voice of Pearl Jam ‘s Eddie Vedder earlier in the night. The singer took a spot next to Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters to sing the rock anthem ‘Comfortably Numb.’ Vedder’s voice fit perfectly within the Pink Floyd standard, offering a diverse cadence to the track while switching back and forth with Waters.
