Slash Wins Guitarist of the Year in the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Six-string legend Slash  experienced a strong 2012, capping it all off with a Loudwire Music Award for Guitarist of the Year. Every opponent Slash went up against in this category was a worthy one, to say the least, but after a hard-fought battle with Mark Tremonti for the award, Slash emerged victorious. In 2012, Slash released ‘Apocalyptic Love’ with Alter Bridge vocalist Myles Kennedy and backing band the Conspirators, capturing success thanks to his rabid fan base. Slash also made waves early in 2012 by not only receiving an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but facilitating a partial Guns N’ Roses reunion at the ceremony with various classic GN’R members joining the guitar god. Congratulations to Slash for his many achievements in 2012, which led him to win this award. The guitarist has been at the top of his game for several decades, and we wish him the very best in keeping his hot streak going strong in 2013. Ex-Guns N’ Roses Drummer Steven Adler Thankful to Have a ‘Second Chapter’

New Ocean Media Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler is branching out with his own band, appropriately named Adler , and the band’s debut full-length, ‘Back From the Dead,’ carries a straight-ahead rock sound that proves Mr. A means business. Now, Adler is opening up about the message behind the album, and he says he hopes it gives him a fresh start in the music business. “Every musician, their goal in life is to play music that people love and I’ve accomplished my goal,” he told goJimmygo . “I was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and left that chapter of my life and those people in the past. Good and bad, I’ve loved and am thankful for that chapter. I’m thankful that I survived that chapter and am able to have a second chapter. I want to start afresh and become relevant again.” Adler says recording the album was a blast, especially when it came to getting guitar great Slash involved. “It was wonderful,” Adler said. “Just to have him be proud enough and believe in me enough again after all of the things that have happened. “I have to prove myself every second of every day and it got to where I’ve proved myself enough for Slash to be happy and want to be a part of this record. It feels great that we have such a history together. I really care about what he thinks and feels about me.” Things are looking up for Steven Adler, as evidenced by Loudwire’s stellar review of his band’s ‘Back From the Dead’ album. Izzy Stradlin Releases New Single ‘Baby-Rann’

YouTube It’s been a couple of years since we were treated to new music from Izzy Stradlin , but the former Guns N’ Roses guitarist isn’t resting on his laurels — in fact, he has unleashed a YouTube video of a new single, titled ‘Baby-Rann.’ A scorching uptempo rocker featuring a tasty solo from lead guitarist Rick Richards (who co-founded the Georgia Satellites before serving time in Izzy’s band the Ju Ju Hounds), ‘Baby-Rann’ finds Stradlin working with a crew that includes bassist J.T. Longoria and former Reverend Horton Heat drummer Taz Bentley. The video, which is can be seen below, was edited by Ed Shiers after being filmed at L.A.’s legendary Ocean Way Studios earlier this month. ‘Baby-Rann’ caps a year of sporadic activity for Stradlin, who skipped out on Guns N’ Roses’ induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April but turned up on the road with GN’R for a couple of London concerts in May. Perhaps, it serves as the first sign of a new album from the guitarist, who released a whopping five albums between 2007-10, but has been relatively quiet since putting out the iTunes-only ‘Wave of Heat’ in July of that year. Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Josh Klinghoffer Questions Rock Hall Induction Process

Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer would be considered “the new guy” in the band, but he still got to experience a milestone with the group earlier this year when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. For the guitarist though, he’s not sure what it all means at this point. Klinghoffer told Hitfix of the Rock Hall, “It’s a weird thing to have a
