Facebook: Three Days Grace Three Days Grace will extend their touring with newly installed singer Matt Walst beyond their two legs of shows with Shinedown . The band has just tacked on 11 new gigs that will take place during the months of April and May. P.O.D. , who have been out on the road with Three Days Grace and Shinedown, will share the stage with Three Days Grace during their May 7 stop in Corpus Christi, but their participation in the remainder of the tour has not been confirmed. The new trek launches April 17 in Portland, Maine, and runs through a May 17 finale in Youngstown, Ohio. Three Days Grace have employed My Darkest Days frontman Matt Walst as their singer since the beginning of the year, revealing in January that longtime vocalist Adam Gontier had split from the group . Walst, the brother of Three Days Grace bassist Brad Walst, intends on balancing both of his groups for the time being. Three Days Grace have expressed their desire to continue their career even though Gontier is no longer with the band and plan to address their future once touring is complete. Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Meshuggah vocalist Jens Kidman has been fighting a serious flu during his band’s current North American tour with Animals as Leaders + Intronaut . Since Feb. 12, Kidman has been unable to perform because of his affliction, forcing the rest of the Swedish extreme metal band to get creative with filling Kidman’s vacant spot. Tonight (Feb. 15), Meshuggah are hitting New York City for a crushing performance, but since Jens Kidman hasn’t been healthy enough to perform in Atlanta, Ga., Charlotte, N.C. and Philadelphia, respectfully, the vocalist is still questionable for the show, along with Meshuggah’s remaining North American dates . The band took to Facebook on Feb. 12, breaking the bad news of Kidman’s illness to their Atlanta fans: Jens is down with the flu. And this flu means business. He has been forbidden to even speak. He’s mute for now. WE WILL PLAY ANYWAY. So memorize the lyrics and bring your very best growl Atlanta. You will all be Jens tonight!! Lets make this happen! We hope he’s back tomorrow, or it’ll be vocal-duties Charlotte! To help replicate Meshuggah’s heavier-than-hell live show, the group brought a cardboard cutout of Kidman onto the stage to fill his empty space, while a live vocal track from a past Meshuggah performance blasted through the speakers. Intronaut guitarist / vocalist Sacha Dunable has also been giving Meshuggah a helping hand (or voice) by claiming guest vocal duties for ‘New Millennium Cyanide Christ.’ Kidman himself posted an apology via Meshuggah’s Facebook page right before the act’s Feb. 13 Charlotte gig: I just need to say a few words here guys. I’m truly unable to perform tonight. Again. Me not being able to do what I’m supposed to do is really really frustrating and I feel that I’m letting you all down. Not just you, the fans, but the band as well. But we try to make the absolute best we can out of this situation. So its either cancel OR play for you guys anyway. We opt for playing. Its what we’re here to do. So that’s what we’ll do. With your help it’ll be awesome. I will see the doctor again tomorrow and will hopefully get a green light to perform in Philly. Fingers crossed. So a big humble thanks goes out to all of you for your support and understanding!! Let the mayhem commence Charlotte!!! /Jens Stay tuned for more news on Meshuggah and the health status of Jens Kidman. Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Halestorm have joined the ranks of Iron Maiden , Judas Priest , Foo Fighters , Metallica , Slayer , Rage Against the Machine and Slipknot among others in the metal and hard rock genres who can call themselves Grammy winners . But the reality of the situation is still setting in for drummer Arejay Hale. He tells Noisecreep , “We still don’t believe it. I’m still waiting for someone to tell us that we were punked. I know a lot of people get up there and say they’re shocked and didn’t expect to win, but I’m here to tell you, we were shocked and in no way did we expect to win! When you look at who we were up against, I know it’s hard to make sense of, and I think we may have been as surprised as everyone else.” The drummer adds, “Honestly, I thought Lamb of God would’ve won. What’s interesting is that they influenced the song we won for. We love Lamb of God, in fact all the other nominees are bands we grew up looking up to. There were such legendary artists in that category and maybe we’re just the ones that got picked to represent the new guard, but that’s not our call.” There have been some who’ve criticized the Grammys for rewarding the relative newcomers against their more veteran competition, but Hale has no problems with the haters questioning their victory. He explains, “I learned a long time ago that you have to embrace the hater, because it means that the band is getting bigger. Like Nickelback , I love them and I see people hate on them and all it says to me is that they have become massively huge, and what’s wrong with that? So if people have to take the time to say something hateful or mean for whatever reason, it means the band is growing more and more and that more fans are finding out about us and that’s a valuable thing.” Hale says after 16 years of playing music with his sister Lzzy , the Grammy serves as some sort of vindication that they made the right choice pursuing music as a career. Peaceville Bad news for Cradle of Filth fans in North America … the British extreme metal band have been forced to cancel their upcoming tour with the Faceless , Decapitated and the Agonist . According to an official statement from Cradle of Filth, the cancellation is due to immigration issues that are “beyond the band’s control.” Back in October 2012, we spoke with Cradle of Filth singer Dani Filth , who speculated that a North American tour with the Faceless, Decapitated and the Agonist would likely happen in 2013. Having called the tour package a “really strong lineup,” we’re sure that Dani, Cradle of Filth and the three other acts on the bill aren’t feeling too happy about the forced cancellation, especially due to it being cancelled on somewhat of a technicality. Cradle of Filth posted on their official Facebook page about the tour’s cancellation: Cradle Of Filth are really sorry to tell all of their fans that their US tour ’28 Days Closer to Hell’ is going to have to be cancelled, due to US immigration issues beyond the band’s control. They have been desperately trying to solve these problems, but it has become evident they are not going to be resolved in time for the band to embark on a tour that starts next week. The band sincerely apologize to all their fans and to the other acts on the tour and want to assure people they have made every effort possible to go ahead with the tour. Hopefully Cradle of Filth will be able to return to North American soil sometime soon, and when it happens, we’ll be sure to let you know. The band released its latest album, ‘ The Manticore and Other Horrors ,’ on Halloween 2012.
