Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Mark Tremonti is currently winding down the latest North American tour leg for his self-titled band, and Alter Bridge are about to become his primary focus. The guitarist tells Billboard that after meeting briefly earlier this year, the band is ready to resume work on a new disc and has the beginnings of the effort in place. He explained, “[We have] about five songs outlined [for the new album] … All of them are kind of real high-energy, just real fun rock/metal. We want to not be predictable. We want to make it a little surprising and we’re having fun with it.” At present, Alter Bridge are planning to regroup in late April and hope to begin recording their new album in earnest this summer, with a tour tentatively slated for September. As for the Tremonti band and their plans, the guitarist admits that he might line up some shows during breaks in Alter Bridge’s schedule, just as frontman Myles Kennedy is planning to do with Slash . “It’s always good when you’re recording a record to go take a break and come back,” says the guitarist. “That way you can make sure it’s still exciting and fresh to you.” The rocker says he’s also thinking about a second album from Tremonti, but admits that it will take a back seat to his other bands for the immediate future. “We’re going to just keep pushing the limits of what we can do,” says Tremonti. “We’ll try to be as heavy and progressive as we can without losing the vocal melodies and the reasons why most people listen to music. I don’t want to be just self-indulgent, but we want to have a lot of fun with it, too.” And as for his other band, Creed , Tremonti simply states, “It’s Alter Bridge’s year.” [button href=”http://loudwire.com/tremonti-wish-you-well-video/” title=”Next: Watch Tremonti’s ‘Wish You Well’ Video” align=”center”]

Alice in Chains Unveil Title of New Album

Photo by Dave Ma Alice in Chains had a little fun yesterday (Feb. 13), asking fans to unscramble a collection of letters that once deciphered would reveal their album title, and the fans could then post their suggested titles to Instagram. But how many people actually came up with ‘The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here’? That is the title of the band’s new album, which is on target for a May release, as revealed in a message on the group’s website and social networking sites. The timing is perfect for Alice in Chains, who have a wealth of spring tour dates and festival appearances that should build the buzz by the time the disc drops. Alice in Chains announced a spring trek that runs April 25 – May 24 earlier this year. They’ll also be plenty busy headlining the Rocklahoma , Carolina Rebellion , Welcome to Rockville and Rock on the Range festivals, as well. The band has also been confirmed internationally for the Download Festival in England on June 15 and the Rock in Rio festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sept. 19. The band is already off to a hot start with ‘The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here’ album, with the lead single ‘ Hollow ‘ inching closer to the top of the charts. The group recorded the disc in Los Angeles with producer Nick Raskulinecz. HIM Announce April Release Date for New Album ‘Tears on Tape’

Photo Credit: Joonas Brandt Finnish love metal phenoms HIM have unveiled details on their upcoming studio release. The band’s eighth record, ‘Tears on Tape,’ is set to be released on April 30 in the U.S., while U.K. and Ireland audiences will have access to the album on April 29. Having formed in 1991 and broken into the consciousness of U.S. audiences in the early 2000s, HIM gained a cult following thanks to songs such as ‘Buried Alive By Love,’ ‘Right Here in My Arms’ and ‘Wings of a Butterfly,’ along with a huge push by Jackass star Bam Margera. With HIM delivering sonic love metal delights for 20 years, the buzz for their 2013 full-length is beginning to resonate throughout rock and metal communities. ‘Tears on Tape’ was recorded in Finland with longtime HIM collaborator Hiili Hiilesmaa manning the helm as the band’s producer. Having worked on HIM releases such as ‘Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666,’ ‘Love Metal’ and ‘Venus Doom,’ Hiilesmaa also boasts studio work with the 69 Eyes , Apocalyptica and many others. “‘Tears on Tape’ is going to be really organic,” said vocalist Ville Valo in a recent interview, “straight-in-your-face, super melancholy bulls— [Laughs]. It’s going to be something nobody’s heard before. I’m really happy about it. It sounds great. Remember the soundtrack for ‘Twin Peaks’ that Angelo Badalamenti did? It’s got that similar forlorn, melancholy quality but mixed up with Motörhead . That’s where we’re at! We’re really happy. It’s got that dreamlike quality. It’s like Roy Orbison meeting Metallica .” The new HIM album will be the act’s first release on the band’s new U.S. label, Razor & Tie Records. “We´re infernally glad to be dressed sharply enough for our dearest comrades in the US (for once),” says Valo. “R&T A-Go-Go!!!” Stay tuned for future news on HIM’s ‘Tears on Tape,’ along with the band’s upcoming 2013 tour dates, which are reportedly being planned as of this posting.
