Michael Buckner, Getty Images / Liz Ramanand, Loudwire New York alternative and progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria have just announced a 2013 U.S. headlining tour with Between the Buried and Me + Russian Circles as support. Coheed and Cambria are hitting the road to promote their upcoming full-length album, ‘The Afterman: Descension,” which will hit stores on Feb. 5. The album acts as the follow-up to the band’s 2012 album, ‘The Afterman: Ascension.’ Between the Buried and Me are currently at an extremely high point, having just released ‘The Parallax II: Future Sequence,’ which we gave a rare perfect five-star review . Much like Coheed’s release, ‘The Parallax II’ is also a follow-up record, which continues the story that began with ‘The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues’ EP. Chicago-based instrumental act Russian Circles are a fitting opening act for the tour, combining progressive rock and metal in the vein of both Coheed and BTBAM. Mark Tremonti Shreds in Video for New Single ‘So You’re Afraid’

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Who’s ready to shred? Tremonti have released a new video for ‘So You’re Afraid,’ the follow-up single to ‘You Waste Your Time.’  The live video footage was recorded at Groovemaster Studios in Chicago, Ill., showing the band in a pretty laid back atmosphere allowing the music to take center stage. According to Blabbermouth , the riff in ‘So You’re Afraid’ may sound a little familiar. That’s because a version of it was used in Tremonti’s recent instructional DVD as a riff exercise. Clearly the riff has developed into a full blown song and serves as the backbone for the high-energy, pounding, rocker that offers up a taste of his metal roots and influences. Mark Tremonti has proven himself as a true triple-threat and continues to shine with his songwriting, vocals and lead guitar for the solo-based project. Tremonti is currently out on tour in support of their debut disc ‘All I Was,’ released on July 17. Bassist Wolfgang Van Halen has joined the trek due to Creed and Alter Bridge bassist Brian Marshall running into personal issues before the dates kicked off. The U.S. leg of the tour has wrapped up and now Tremonti heads overseas for shows in England, Germany, Indonesia and more; check out all of the remaining dates here . AxeWound Premiere ‘Exorchrist’ Video, Announce 2012 North American Tour Dates

The End Records With their debut album ‘ Vultures ‘ out now,  Axewound have unveiled the video for the song ‘Exorchrist.’ In addition, the band also announced a short North American tour beginning in late November in Baltimore. Axewound are a supergroup of sorts, made up of Cancer Bats vocalist Liam Cormier and Bullet for My Valentine  singer-guitarist Matt Tuck along with drummer Jason Bowld of Pitchshifter, ex-Rise to Remain bassist Joe Coput and Glamour of the Kill guitarist Mike Kingswood. More than just an extension of their other bands, the members of Axewound say they were inspired by groups like Pantera and Slipknot. “Those were the bands that I adored growing up,” explains Matt Tuck. “They each had that ‘don’t give a f—’ attitude. Axewound is about us taking the same opportunity to do exactly what we want. Musically, lyrically, it is what it is – no boundaries or limits.” ‘Vultures’ combines heaviness and brutality with an ample dose of melody. “Doing what I do in Bullet, I know what people want in every sense from a band like this,” Tuck says. “Whether they are fans of hardcore metal or of classic melodic metal. We’ve tried to encompass all of that into one brutal, nasty machine.” Check out our review of AxeWound’s ‘Vultures’ here . Exclusive: The Last Vegas Go Acoustic

Amy Aiello Photography The Last Vegas are bringing back a down-and-dirty sound to rock ‘n’ roll with their latest album ‘Bad Decisions.’ The Chicago-based rockers recently stopped by our office to perform a couple of acoustic tracks off the new disc, as well as a favorite from their previous album, ‘Whatever Gets You Off.’ As for the new album, singer Chad Cherry tells us, “If you’re a rock ‘n’ roll fan, you’re gonna really like [‘Bad Decisions’]. It’s a little more raw than our last record, a little rough around the edges and a little catchier.” If you’re new to the Last Vegas, Cherry has this to say about their vibe: “We go on the road with the likes of Motley Crue, Guns N’ Roses, AC/DC, Buckcherry, so if you’re a fan of hard rock, you’re gonna be a fan of the Last Vegas.” The Last Vegas have a handful of dates scheduled for the remainder of the year, with a CD release show set for their hometown of Chicago on Friday, Oct. 5.
