Iron Maiden’s Steve Harris: I Think We’ve Got Another Five Years in Us

George De Sota, Getty Images Iron Maiden are among the pioneers of heavy metal, but despite the fact that they are still going strong, bassist Steve Harris sees an expiration date approaching for the band. He tells The Quietus , “I don’t know about [us playing for another] ten years. I think we’ve certainly got another five years in us, but it’s hard to say.” The bassist says that health definitely factors into their future equation, adding, “As you get older, it gets doubly hard to keep yourself fit and in shape. We do work really hard on doing that. We’d be selling ourselves and everyone else short if we didn’t, so we look after ourselves.” Harris, an avid soccer fan, says he’s given up playing the sport for the most part. He adds, “I’ve had so many problems with my back that I can only play the odd match here or there. Unfortunately it’s five years since I’ve played a full season of football and that’s something that I miss a lot. But I had to make a decision. I play a lot of tennis.” With Harris seeing the end in sight, he’s taking advantage of his time remaining in rock to do what he wants. Earlier this fall, he released his solo disc, ‘ British Lion ,’ which has been in the works for over a decade. Harris has gone in a more hard rock direction for the disc, and recently stated that the material was not “throwaway Iron Maiden stuff.” He’s currently gauging the response before deciding whether to tour in support of the effort. Korn’s Munky Unveils Fear and the Nervous System Documentary

Ethan Miller, Getty Images Korn guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer has taken his experimental rock side project Fear and the Nervous System on the road for the first time, playing two shows over the weekend in California. He has also unveiled a documentary on the project (watch below). The band’s self-titled debut album was released last month, and the documentary features never-before-seen footage of 2007 jam sessions with Brooks Wackerman (Bad Religion) and Billy Gould ( Faith No More ) that shaped the album. “Zac Baird (Korn touring keyboardist) and I had worked on a few ideas while touring with Korn,” Shaffer says. “So, when we started to record, those song ideas were our jumping off point. But, 90 percent of the album was created on the spot, then recorded. We were lucky to get the people we wanted to become involved with the project.” Rehearsal footage of Fear and the Nervous System preparing for last weekend’s kickoff of their first tour is also included. In addition to Shaffer, Baird, Wackerman and Gould, the band includes Repeater vocalist Steve Krolikowski and guitarist Leopold Ross. Fear and the Nervous System have two more shows scheduled next weekend. On Friday (Oct. 19), they will play in Bakersfield, Calif., and on Saturday (Oct. 20), they are in West Hollywood at the Roxy. Hottest Rockstar Wives

Publicity Still / Facebook / Getty Images One stereotype that all rock and metal bands face is that they’re doing it all for the chicks. While this may not be 100% true, hot babes are one of the many perks available in the life of a successful musician. No matter how big the ego of a rockstar or how many groupies they’ve bagged, when they meet the right woman, these musicians are brought to their knees. Just about every male musician would like a hot chick on their arm (among other things), but these women possess more than just the ability to inspire the engorgement of a gentleman’s custard launcher. These rocker wives have tamed some of the most unruly musicians, bared their children and possess the strength to be away from their loved ones for months at a time.
