Among the shows are rescheduled New York and Boston gigs, which had to be postponed due to Superstorm Sandy. ‘ Koi No Yokan ,’ the band’s seventh studio album, was released in November to much critical acclaim. In fact, it was named the No. 1 album of the year by Loudwire in our list of the 10 Best Rock Albums of 2012 . The single ‘Leathers’ from the album garnered the No. 2 slot on our list of the 10 Best Rock Songs of 2012 . Deftones also made a strong showing in the nominations for the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards . They are up for the following awards: Rock Song of the Year (‘Leathers’), Rock Album of the Year (‘Koi No Yokan’), Rock Band of the Year and Vocalist of the Year (Chino Moreno). The newly announced trek kicks off March 4 in Rochester, N.Y., and runs through March 30 show in Houston, Texas. Tickets go on sale Friday (Dec. 21). Later on in 2013, Deftones are slated to play Ozzfest Japan . They will perform on May 11, the first day of the two-day festival, alongside bands such as Slipknot and Slash . Liz Ramanand, Loudwire / Marilyn Manson Twitter Marilyn Manson is not afraid to stand up for himself, but in doing so recently in Switzerland the rocker came out a little worse for wear. In fact, the musician needed 24 stitches to sew up part of his air after a brawl. The entertainer who once released the track ‘The Fight Song’ did not go into detail about the scuffle, other than to reveal that the injury came about when he was struck with a glass table. Manson discussed the incident via Twitter and also included a photo of his ear after the procedure. Manson has been touring through Europe along with Rob Zombie as part of the “ Twins of Evil “ tour. The rocker has enjoyed a career resurrection this past year, with the single ‘ No Reflection ‘ and album ‘ Born Villain ‘ both making the cut in the Loudwire Best Rock Songs and Best Rock Albums of 2012 lists. Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com With the release of their very successful second studio album ‘The Strange Case Of…,’ Halestorm have had one hell of a year, including a recent Grammy nomination, nonstop touring and plans for a new covers EP. Not to mention, the band received multiple nominations in our very own 2012 Loudwire Music Awards. We spoke to Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale shortly after the band’s Grammy nomination , and she was kind enough to share some thoughts on being one of the contenders for the Rock Goddess of the Year and other topics related to the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards. “It’s so neat, thank you so much for including us in that,” Hale told us. “It’s funny, we were talking about this and it’s like, we’re the new kids on the block, so it’s neat that all of a sudden we’re part of this rock club. It’s just cool to watch and it’s a lot of fun for the fans, too, because they feel like they’re a part of something — so it’s really great that you’re doing that.” In the Rock Goddess of the Year category, Hale joins her pals Amy Lee of Evanescence , Maria Brink of In This Moment and other female artists who have been prominent this year in music. “It’s funny because just in the past couple years we’ve become really good friends with a lot of the people who are included, so all of us, between myself and Amy and Maria, we’re all voting for each other,” Hale remarks. “Right now, I’m on Twitter with Maria Brink and everyday [laughs] we’ll be like, ‘How many votes do you have now?’ It’s a lot of fun for us too.” Hale also talks about the her little brother Arejay Hale being nominated for Drummer of the Year alongside musicians such as Vinnie Paul . “It’s so funny, he’s so thrilled about that too. Liz Ramanand, Loudwire The Monster Energy Outbreak Tour made its stop in New York City on Sunday night (Dec. 9) for a sold-out show at the Best Buy Theater. Headliners Asking Alexandria set fans into a frenzy, as did As I Lay Dying , Memphis May Fire, I See Stars and Attila. The night was bittersweet. As much as fans enjoyed the performance of the bands, there was also a wistful vibe throughout the night as many fans remembered frontman Mitch Lucker of Suicide Silence, who were supposed to be on the tour’s lineup before the untimely death of their vocalist. The night kicked off with a decent set by party metal band Attila, followed by I See Stars, who got fans bouncing and brought on the first Wall of Death of the night. Memphis May Fire were up next and delivered an intense performance. One of the best sets of the night went to As I Lay Dying, who ripped the place apart with massive pits, a heap of crowd surfers and the night’s second Wall of Death. The main act of the night, Asking Alexandria, kicked off their set but without frontman Danny Worsnop, but fans, who were a tad confused, still sang along. Eventually, Worsnop came out onstage to screaming fans and explained that he tore his vocal cord and wouldn’t be able to perform, but that his buds from I See Stars and Attila would take over the vocal duties. The band also got help from a multitalented roadie, who was busy setting up the equipment and taping down wires before they began, but graced the stage and tore it up on a few Asking Alexandria songs. However, it was the fans who really took over the vocal duties and belted out all of the words to all of the songs they performed. The most poignant moment of the set was the band dedicating their track ‘Someone, Somewhere’ to Mitch Lucker. The tune was sung by Us, From Outside vocalist Kenny Davis. When Asking Alexandria left the stage, the Suicide Silence classic ‘You Only Live Once’ played in honor of Lucker. Fans remembered him in the best way possible with massive pits, some serious crowd surfing and by singing the song word for word. Danny Worsnop did come out for the encore to perform the fan favorite ‘The Final Episode (Let’s Change the Channel).’ Worsnop and a bunch of his buddies destroyed the stage.
