Metallica vs. Avenged Sevenfold – 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, Semifinals

Loudwire Rock Bowl Semifinals Well, isn’t this an interesting matchup? Metallica ‘s ‘Seek and Destroy’ squares off against Avenged Sevenfold ‘s ‘Seize the Day’ to determine which act will advance to the finals of the 2013 Loudwire Bowl. Two very different songs, but each with a title that helps define football. Metallica’s ‘Seek and Destroy’ has enjoyed a relatively easy patch to the semifinals, besting Volbeat’s ‘A Warrior’s Call’ in the first round earning 71 percent of the vote and staving off Papa Roach’s ‘Last Resort’ in the quarterfinals with just shy of 64 percent of the final tally. As for ‘Seek and Destroy,’ the hard-hitting song has what it takes to amp up just about anyone and the talk of starting a fight is just the competitive spirit you want out of a football song. As for Avenged Sevenfold, they outlasted Shinedown’s ‘Devour’ in Round 1 by earning just shy of 64 percent of the vote. Then, in the quarterfinals, their fans rallied to boost them past Disturbed’s ‘Indestructible’ with 60 percent of the vote. Though the track may not be as hard as some of their competitors, the song is no less inspiring. Name an NFL player, especially during playoff time, that can’t identify with the sentiment “Seize the day or die regretting the time you lost.” The song rings true with the idea of making every moment count. Will ‘Seek and Destroy’ advance and survive or will ‘Seize the Day’ live up to its title? The battle begins now and you can vote once per hour to help ensure your favorite moves on to the 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl. Voting continues through this Friday (Feb. 1) at 10AM ET. Suffocation vs. Cannibal Corpse – Death Match

Nuclear Blast / Metal Blade New York death metal icons Suffocation have been decimating every opponent daring enough to take them on in Loudwire’s series of Death Matches. Suffocation need only one more win for the track ‘As Grace Descends’ to be inducted into our Death Match Hall of Fame. The band has beaten out some of the world’s heaviest bands, but we’re giving them perhaps the most legendary, innovative and most importantly, brutal death metal band the world has to offer. Cannibal Corpse released their 12th studio album, ‘Torture,’ last year to much acclaim from the band’s devoted fanatics. In 2013, however, Cannibal Corpse are set to unleash the ‘Dead Human Collection: 25 Years of Death Metal’ box set, containing every record in Corpse’s discography. The all-inclusive box set ( available here for pre-order ) will be released on March 19, and to celebrate, we’re throwing the ‘Torture’ song ‘Demented Aggression’ into this week’s Death Match. Can Suffocation secure their spot as Death Match Hall of Famers? Or will Cannibal Corpse eat their way toward their own Hall of Fame trek? The decision is yours. Slipknot vs. Rob Zombie – 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, Quarterfinals

2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl Quarterfinals If you can’t get amped up with these two songs vying to advance in this 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl matchup, then you might want to check your pulse to see if you’re still alive. It’s Slipknot ‘s ‘Wait and Bleed’ squaring off against  Rob Zombie ‘s ‘Superbeast’ in the quarterfinals. Though P.O.D.’s ‘Boom’ may be an NFL stadium favorite, the track proved to be no match to Slipknot’s ‘Wait and Bleed,’ which received 70 percent of the vote in the first round. Singer Corey Taylor ‘s pent up angst on the track is just waiting to be released and the act of psyching yourself up to pound pads with an opposing player is not uncommon for an NFL player. Meanwhile, Rob Zombie barely escaped round one with ‘Superbeast’ receiving just over 50 percent of the vote over Five Finger Death Punch’s ‘Back for More,’ making it the closest match of the first round. Zombie’s highly aggressive, hard-driving track can raise your heartbeats per minute rather easily. But does this ‘Superbeast’ have what it takes to best Slipknot? Here’s your chance to let your voice be heard. Vote in the poll below between now and Jan. 30 at 10AM ET. You can vote once per hour for your favorite between Slipknot and Rob Zombie. Disturbed vs. Avenged Sevenfold – 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, Quarterfinals

2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl Quarterfinals Disturbed against Avenged Sevenfold may be the toughest battle of the 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl quarterfinals, as both bands won decisively against their opening round competition. Disturbed’s ‘Indestructible’ proved to be exactly that when facing off against Trapt’s determination anthem, ‘Headstrong.’ Recording just under three quarters (72 percent) of the total vote, Disturbed emerged victorious. And as we move forward, there’s little doubt that ‘Indestructible’ makes for a great football anthem, with David Draiman singing about “carrying the colors” and defending an oath. But do they have what it takes to be the “master of war” over Avenged Sevenfold? ‘Seize the Day’ is a pretty powerful message, so it’s no wonder their fans seized control of the voting fairly early on to distance themselves from Shinedown’s ‘Devour.’ The band received just shy of 64 percent of the final vote to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl. Will Avenged Sevenfold’s fans continue to “seize the day” and help the band advance to the semifinals? This should definitely be a tight matchup, so every vote counts. Make your voice heard by voting in the poll below. Then click the red button at the bottom of this post to vote in the next 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl matchup. You have until Wednesday morning (Jan. 30) at 10AM ET to vote for your favorite. Rob Zombie vs. Five Finger Death Punch – 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, Round 1

Photos by Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Hope you’ve got your pads on for this one! The 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl continues its quest to uncover the best hard rock football theme by matching up Rob Zombie ‘s ‘Superbeast’ against Five Finger Death Punch ‘s ‘Back for More.’ On one hand, you’ve got Rob Zombie’s ‘Superbeast,’ a highly-aggressive, hard-driving track certain to amp up just about any listener. And when you think of a super beast, a few of the NFL’s elite, most pumped up offensive and defensive linemen definitely come to mind. And where else but in the trenches would you expect to find a super beast? On the other hand, there’s Five Finger Death Punch, who’ve been cranking out aggressive hit after hit over the last half-decade. The band’s hot streak included the song ‘Back for More,’ which delivers the messages, “ Let’s get it on / It’s time to get in the game / You gotta fight til it hurts and then you do it again .” This dog-eat-dog track is about emerging victorious and not sparing the weak. So does it stand a fighting chance against the likes of Rob Zombie? You tell us. Vote between Rob Zombie and Five Finger Death Punch in this 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl matchup in the poll below.
