Killswitch Engage Unveil Cover Art for Upcoming Album ‘Disarm the Descent’

Roadrunner The upcoming sixth album from  Killswitch Engage can certainly claim the distinction of “highly anticipated.” It was recently revealed that the disc will be titled ‘Disarm the Descent’ and be released on April 2, but another piece of the puzzle has been released in the form of the album’s cover art (pictured here). ‘Disarm the Descent’ will be Killswitch Engage’s first album in 11 years that features returning vocalist Jesse Leach , the singer having left the metal act shortly after their 2002 full-length ‘Alive or Just Breathing.’ Since Leach’s triumphant return to the band at the 2012 New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, the revamped Killswitch have proven themselves as a solid live act, but now fans will get to hear Leach’s studio work on ‘Disarm the Descent.’ The cover art for the upcoming album was designed by Killswitch Engage bassist Mike D’Antonio, which depicts a veiled female figure with flames coming out of her chest. The artwork is stunning and harnesses a gritty a scratched up style fitting of the group’s sound. “To me, this is by far my best vocal performance, much thanks to Adam’s guidance and faith in my abilities,” Jesse Leach says about the new album. “I am very grateful to be where I am in life, back in an amazing band with a record we are all excited for the world to hear. Thanks to all the fans for their warm welcome back and their undying love for Killswitch Engage.” Stay tuned for more news on Killswitch Engage’s upcoming sixth album. ‘Disarm The Descent’ Track Listing: ‘The Hell In Me’ ‘Beyond the Flames’ ‘New Awakening’ ‘In Due Time’ ‘A Tribute to the Fallen’ ‘The Turning Point’ ‘All That We Have’ ‘You Don’t Bleed for Me’ ‘The Call’ ‘No End in Sight’ ‘Always’ ‘Time Will Not Remain’ [button href=”http://loudwire.com/killswitch-engage-the-end-of-heartache-top-21st-century-metal-songs/” title=”Killswitch Engage – Top 21st Century Metal Songs” align=”center”]

Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler Offers New Details on Upcoming Album + Tour Plans

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com The new year is bringing a new Black Sabbath album, their first original disc with Ozzy Osbourne since 1978′s ‘Never Say Die!’ Though the group was unable to work out their contract dispute with drummer Bill Ward , they’re forging ahead with the new music and their first extended touring since regrouping. Bassist Geezer Butler addressed the upcoming disc as well as the band’s drummer situation in a video interview with 96.7 KCAL Rocks . According to Butler, the ‘ 13 ‘ disc has a familiar feel. He explains, “It’s sort of got the feel of the first three albums — back to the basic rawness. And the lyrics are very … they’re just about life … life and death and doom and everything else. You get Prozac with every album.” The bassist revealed that even though the members are very familiar with each other, this was a different recording process as all of the members were completely sober. “It’s been more professional in that way,” says Butler. “We’ve stuck to a schedule every day. We’d go in at one o’clock and finish at six, just to keep everything fresh. Five hours a day — that’s it.” As for the decision to invite Rage Against the Machine ‘s Brad Wilk to play drums on the effort, Butler credits that call to producer Rick Rubin. “He didn’t want a typical heavy metal drummer on the album,” says Butler. “It’s not really a heavy metal album. It’s more of a rock … heavy rock. And Rick Rubin suggested Brad cause he’s more in the vein of Bill Ward. So we jammed with him and he sounded great with the stuff, so we went with that … It’s sort of back to the way we used to be in the ’70s. That’s his feel — sort of a jazzy, bluesy feel to him, and that’s the way the music is now. It was great working with him.” Though the band employed Wilk in the studio and Tommy Clufetos when touring last year, Butler revealed that they hadn’t decided on a touring drummer for this year’s dates. Black Sabbath’s ’13′ album is expected in June. For more on Butler’s discussion on the current health updates of Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi , watch the video interview below. Stone Sour + Papa Roach Heat Up New York City With Support From Otherwise

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Stone Sour , Papa Roach and Otherwise brought the heat Tuesday night (Jan. 23) to a sold-out crowd that needed to be warmed up after stepping into New York City’s Terminal 5 on an extremely cold night outside. For anyone who has seen frontman Corey Taylor in action, it’s evident that he gives it his all when performing. Stone Sour gave a phenomenal performance as they began their set with their dual singles ‘Gone Sovereign’ and ‘Absolute Zero’ off their latest album, ‘House of Gold & Bones Part 1.’ They also played other new tunes such as ‘A Rumor of Skin,’ ’RU486,’ ‘The Travelers (Part 2)’ and ‘Last of the Reel.’ The crowd joined Taylor in belting out hits such as ‘Bother’ and ‘Through Glass’ and went crazy when Stone Sour performed favorites such as ‘Made of Scars,’ ‘Reborn’ and ‘30/30-150.’ Earlier in the night, co-headliner Papa Roach proved that the band is ‘Still Swingin’ as they kicked off their set with that very song. Despite having surgery on his vocal cords only a few months ago, singer Jacoby Shaddix delivered powerful performances of other tracks off their latest disc, ‘The Connection,’ such as ‘Where Did the Angels Go,’ ‘Silence Is the Enemy,’ ‘Give Me Back My Life’ and ‘Before I Die.’ The band also rocked out well known hits like ‘Getting Away With Murder,’ ‘Scars,’ and ‘Hollywood Whore.’ And fans really lost their minds as Papa Roach ended their set with a rousing rendition of ‘Last Resort.’ Otherwise kicked off the rocking night of music with a vigorous performance as they played various tracks off of their album ‘True Love Never Dies.’ Frontman Adrian Patrick and his brother, guitarist Ryan Patrick, have a certain energy, connection and perceptiveness onstage. The overall presence and passion of the band as a whole is a dynamic one.
