Theo Wargo, Getty Images The city of Las Vegas is definitely pulling out the stops for Guns N’ Roses upcoming residency at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino . The latest welcome gift for the band was the temporary renaming of one of Las Vegas’ streets to mark the occasion, as Paradise Road will now be known as Paradise City Road. Blabbermouth reports that Clark County Commissioner Mary Beth Scow will declare the street as Paradise City Road during an official ceremony this coming Monday (Oct. 29) at 2:30PM local time. The band members will be presented with an official street sign, though in a recent Facebook posting , it looks as though they’ve already seen it. The group is expected to address the crowd and pose for photos. Guns N’ Roses residency runs from Oct. 31-Nov. 24 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Much like they did when Motley Crue came to town, the casino will have special Guns N’ Roses $25 chips to gamble with during the run. In addition, the casino has come up with a number of specialty themed Guns N’ Roses drinks , including such thirst-quenching concoctions as the November Rain, the Patience Punch, the Paradise City Limits and the Axl Rose. Guns N’ Roses have been making more high profile appearances leading up to the shows. The band recently performed at Neil Young ‘s Bridge School benefit and Axl Rose made an extremely rare late night appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live . Mary Oullette, SheWillShootYou.com / Facebook: Painface Slipknot fans may have their heads implode this week in Des Moines when Stone Sour plays at the local club Wooly’s. That’s because Slipknot’s original singer, Anders Colsefni, will take the stage Monday night (Oct. 29) with his current band Painface to open the show for Corey Taylor ‘s hit-making outfit. Colsefni appeared on the Slipknot’s 1996 demo, ‘Mate Feed Kill Repeat,’ before leaving the band a year later. The group recruited their current vocalist, Taylor, to take over after Colsefni’s exit. Taylor is currently rocking with his other band Stone Sour, while Slipknot enjoys a bit a temporary hiatus . In a posting at Painface’s Facebook page , the group revealed, “Due to the amazingly gracious Corey Taylor, Painface has been asked to open for Stone Sour this Monday Oct. 29 at Wooley’s. We are excited and proud to be able to support one of our favorite bands and fellow Des Moines musicians. The show is sold out but we hope that you hold up the horns in your heart for us if you can’t be there. There will be more information to follow.” In addition to Painface, Blabbermouth reports that Colsefni recently made a guest appearance on Des Moines rock outfit Green Death’s latest EP, ‘Dawn of the Death,’ which arrives digitally Oct. 30. As for Taylor, Stone Sour is taking up plenty of his time. The band just released the first of their two-part ‘ House of Gold & Bones ‘ album, and they are also plotting comic book and potential film companion pieces to go with the discs. After the performance at Wooly’s, the group will spend most of the rest of the year on tour outside of the U.S. [button href=”http://loudwire.com/slipknot-the-heretic-anthem-top-21st-century-metal-songs/” title=”Next: Slipknot – Top 21st Century Metal Songs” align=”center”]
Mark Metcalfe, Getty Images Chino Moreno is a busy man with a thirst for great music, and the Deftones vocalist says that while his band and the ‘ Koi No Yokan ‘ album are his main priorities, he’s also keeping himself occupied with various side projects in his spare time. Of Palms , the band that also features a number of Isis members, Moreno told Consequence of Sound’s Rock It Out Blog , “They recorded this music a long time ago, almost a year ago, so musically it’s been its own thing and I only got asked to do vocals on it not too long ago by my buddy Aaron [Harris], he’s the drummer. It’s not really a thing I rush on. Any of the projects I do, I don’t have to do them. I do them strictly because it’s fun to make music with friends and to do that.” Moreno says he tentatively envisions a spring release. The vocalist also revealed that there will be a third EP coming from ††† (pronounced “Crosses”) before a full-length is released, but because of his schedule, it likely won’t arrive until the band has some time when they can all do something. Moreno also suggested that Team Sleep has quietly been working on new music. He revealed, “Me and Todd [Wilkinson], our guitar player, we’ve been recording stuff back and forth, and [DJ] Crook too actually, he just gave me some beats last week when I was in San Francisco and so there’s stuff being put together.” The singer added that there’s plenty of material that had never been released, but like the other side projects, it was something that was fun and music would eventually come when the time is right. One project you likely won’t see Moreno part of again was his collaboration with Bassnectar. When asked if he was open for more, the vocalist revealed, “Not at all … Why did I do it? Because he asked me to do it. He’s a fan of ours and a friend of ours and I got paid a lot of money to do it for a soundtrack. It’s as simple as that, you know?” Watch Chino Moreno Discuss Deftones + His Side Projects [button href=”http://loudwire.com/best-deftones-songs/” title=”Next: 10 Best Deftones Songs” align=”center”]
Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Halestorm are doing something special for their fans on Halloween, as they’ll head online next Wednesday to play an afternoon studio session set. The group as a whole offered a video announcement for the performance, explaining, “Guess what’s happening? We’re taking over the Warner Sound and we’re making it a Halestorm Hale-oween! So tune in to our live room, and we’ll see you there.” The performance will take place at 3PM ET / Noon PT at the Warner Sound studios and can be seen online at the Warner Sound YouTube site . You may have to register first to see it but registration is free. The Halloween web session will keep the band fresh, as they are currently in the process of ramping up to their late 2012 tour . Nuclear Blast Suffocation vocalist Frank Mullen recently stated that after over 20 years of making death metal’s most brutal music, he will be playing a smaller role when it comes to the future of the band. Mullen no longer feels like he can go off on tour for long periods of time, so during future shows, the vocalist will be playing some shows, while a guest vocalist will be used to fill whatever additional dates there may be. This comes as sad news for many Suffocation fans, as Mullen is not only the innovator of the modern death metal guttural, but also a personality beloved by fans. Whether he’s threatening to kill members of the audience through ridiculous means or utilizing the famous Mullen air-chop, the Suffocation vocalist is almost as entertaining as he is brutal. Mullen revealed his diminished role in the band to Horns Up Rocks! earlier this week, but has since given a detailed explanation of his future plans. “I am not leaving Suffocation,” begins Mullen. “Massive one month long touring on my side cannot be done anymore though. When the new album is released next year I will be touring as much as possible to support the album as well as the following year in 2014.” The vocalist continues, “When I was asked that question in the interview I was taken off guard and didn’t really know what my schedule was going to look like next year and wanted to try and answer. I haven’t given much thought to what our touring schedule would look like since we’ve been in the studio recording the new release. So I’m going to be getting out there as much as I can to support the album and get out there in front of the ones who have supported Suffocation over the years, the true fans. So we are going to be supporting this record as soon as it comes out” The other members of Suffocation also commented on the situation. “We have respected this decision that Frank has made, but by no means does this mean Suffocation will ‘replace’ him with new singer or stop touring. Death metal has been good to us, and we feel fortunate with the success we have achieved. For shows or tours he can’t be a part of there will be a well respected, talented, fill in singer, so we as a band can continue to prosper and bring Suffocation to the fans. Bill Robinson (Decrepit Birth) is a good friend of ours and came through during the European tours when Frank was unable to make the shows, but he was just filling in those two times. The fill-in singer will be announced soon, and we promise that our fans will not be let down. We have been fortunate to make a great living playing music, and are willing to continue to give our fans what they want.” Suffocation are planning to release their seventh full-length album, ‘The Pinnacle of Bedlam’ sometime in early 2013.
Angela Weiss, Getty Images Slash may be telling interviewers he’s finished discussing his years in Guns N’ Roses — or his relationship with Axl Rose — but that moratorium apparently doesn’t apply to his wife, Perla Hudson. Mrs. Slash tossed another log on the long-smoldering feud between Rose and his exiled former guitarist in a recent series of comments to Us Weekly , indicating she was less than impressed with Axl’s appearance earlier this week on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ “I was waiting for something enlightening and all I got was promotion for a show and his evident affinity for a chili burger,” quipped Hudson. “Where is the love, Axl? And I stayed up for this? Sex, drugs and chili dogs. Long live Axl Rose. And a Halloween tree.” Continuing to joke about Rose’s well-documented affinity for parting ways with band members — and pointing out that he’s no longer the rail-thin rock god he was in his youth — Hudson added, “He’s had a Slash, a Buckethead and a Bumblefoot, and evidently way too many Tommy’s chili burgers! Hope there were some left for the audience!” Perla was referring to Rose’s announcement at the end of his segment that he was giving away burgers to all of the members of the studio audience. Hell evidently hath no fury like a scorned guitarist’s wife. We wouldn’t expect to hear anything in response from Axl’s camp, but you never know — this war of words has been going on for nearly 20 years now, and shows no signs of stopping. Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Stone Sour just dropped their ‘ House of Gold & Bones Part 1 ‘ album and singer Corey Taylor is currently working on the second half of the release, so where does that leave his other band, Slipknot ? The vocalist says that after touring the U.S. this past summer, things will scale back for the immediate future. He told Artisan News Service in a video interview (seen below), “We’re doing a couple of shows next year, but that’s about it right now. It’s on hiatus.” Taylor has also been plotting a comic book series and is contemplating turning the two albums into corresponding films. In other Corey Taylor news, the singer talks about his favorite tattoos in a new video clip, which can be seen below. The vocalist says of his general rule for getting tattoos, “There’s kind of a common theme of balance. You can’t have the good without the bad. You can’t have the light without the dark. For me, it’s been about having two ends of the spectrum.” Taylor picked the tattoos he has on each forearm as his favorites, with two recognizable celebrities that have served as inspirations getting the ink treatment. To see who they are and hear Taylor’s explanation as to why he got them tattooed, check out the video below.
