Refused – Official Site When we reflect on 2012, one of the better reunions to take place will have been that of Swedish hardcore punk outfit Refused . However, the band has revealed that the time has come for the reunion to wind down, and they’ve decided that the best place to do it would be their hometown in Umea, Sweden at the Exel Arena on Dec. 15. The group made the most of their time back together, hitting just about every major festival you can imagine. Their touring took them to such festivals as Coachella , Rock am Ring, Roskilde, Groezrock, Download, Primavera Sound, Fuji Rock, and Pukkelpop among others. Plus, they made a rare television appearance on ‘ Late Night with Jimmy Fallon .’ As the band prepare to say farewell, they decided to put their thoughts into words and offered this note of reflection on their Facebook page: So there were those years right after school, when you were 15 and pissed off and everyone thought you were a loser and you ran around with the other weirdos, generating weirdness and little else. And there were those years when what set you apart from the others become a fixation and a lifestyle and you had a band and people talked about what you did but you were so used to being weird you just lumped them in with the rest of the slanderers. Then there were those years when the ideas you’d clung to through late adolescence were beginning to ring hollow and you got more and more confused and destructive and the band broke up and you had rent to pay. That was among the tougher years. And then slowly, over a span of time, you began to sort yourself out and your friends started making sensible decisions in their lives and it suddenly began to seem like most of you were gonna be ok. And then there was the year when you stopped being a petulent kid and you got your favorite musicians together in a room again and decided that you were gonna accept the love of thousands of listeners, accept the success that was waiting there to be had and just in general enjoy being appreciated for the exact same qualities that made you a freak to your contemporaries in your teens. This was one of the better years. And now it is coming to a close. It’s been kind to us. And that old punkrock golem “The shape of punk to come” has done good. The hatchet is buried, 1998 is not such a terrible memory for us anymore. We’re going home. And we’re doing it in style. With old friends and new acquaintances in tow we’re gonna take over our old hometown Umeå for one more night, just because we can. On the 15th of december at the Exel arena we’ll be sharing the stage with these magnificent comrades: Randy, a band of punkrock bandidos from the north who we befriended years before we even were Refused, Two White Horses, an excellent sister/brother-duo from Sävar, both of whom we’ve individually collaborated with in different musical projects through the years, and Råd Kjetil Senza Testa, a new and exciting musical collective consisting of old Umeå pop and hardcore scenesters, among them the guy who produced the very first version of New noise for a local hardcore compilation in early 1997. We unconditionally endorse these bands. Great music, good crude fun, what more do you need? It’s going to be one of those nights. Thank you for populating the pit in 2012. Over and out. Many across the nation are sending their positive thoughts to those dealing with the storm and its aftermath, including a number of rockers. In addition to all the physical damage the hurricane has caused, there’s quite a financial toll as well as much of the eastern seaboard has lost power and a number of businesses have shut down until the weather passes. Victory Records Their sixth studio album, ‘Epidemia,’ was released last week (Oct. 22), and now Ill Niño has unveiled the video for ‘La Epidemia.’ Both the song and clip feature Emmure vocalist Frankie Palmeri. The video for ‘La Epidemia’ was filmed at The Rave in Milwaukee, Wis. It features performance footage of the band, along with some backstage shots. Palmeri and Ill Nino’s Cristian Machado are shown doing vocals in an empty area of the venue. It wasn’t difficult to line up their schedules, since Ill Nino and Emmure were on tour together at the time. Machado spoke with SMNnews about their new album. The singer stated, “I truly feel it embodies who the band really is without compromising musical growth. To define our way of Latin Metal was the intention and, if we got 75 percent of the way there, we succeeded. The feeling, at the end of the day, should be had by the fans and not the band.” “The more we focus on our songs and just that, the better we are as band,” Machado continues. “Too much outside influence can sometimes ruin creativity and focus. In our case, we’ve walked the fine line between being focused and having identity crisis for a long time. These personal creative differences are not audible on ‘Epidemia,’ making it one of our strongest and more focused efforts.” After wrapping up that tour with Emmure, Ill Nino only has one other show currently on their 2012 calendar. They will perform in Marietta, Ga. on Dec. 8. Sony Bullet for My Valentine are finally picking things up again with the announcement that their next album has a title — ‘Temper Temper’ — and also has a Feb. 11 release date. Not so coincidentally, Bullet for My Valentine also has a new single called ‘Temper Temper’ as well. It recently debuted online and is expected to arrive as a download next month. The ‘Temper Temper’ album finds the band reuniting with Don Gilmore, the producer behind their 2010 release ‘Fever.’ Earlier this year, singer Matt Tuck revealed that the band had been working on new music in Thailand . It’s been a pretty busy year for Tuck, who has also spent time recording and touring with his new project, AxeWound . The group recently issued their debut disc, ‘Vultures.’ That, combined with the fact that guitarist Michael “Padge” Paget recently underwent back surgery , may have had something to do with the album arriving in 2013 rather than this year. Paget had his surgery after the album was complete, and has been spending his time recuperating. NME reports that Bullet for My Valentine will hit the road shortly after the album’s release as four shows have already been announced in their native U.K. Stops include Birmingham’s O2 Academy (March 12), Glasgow’s O2 Academy (March 13), Manchester’s O2 Apollo (March 15), and London’s Roundhouse (March 17). Spencer Kaufman, Loudwire As singer Billie Joe Armstrong remains in rehab for substance abuse treatment, Green Day have announced that they’ve canceled all of their remaining 2012 club shows and have postponed their entire 2013 North American arena tour set for January and February. Bassist Mike Dirnt explains, “Obviously the time for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe’s well-being is our main concern. We are happy to say the Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you for all the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can’t wait to see you all again soon.” New dates for the January and February performances will be announced shortly, and all previously purchased tickets will be honored. The band also revealed that because of all the schedule maneuvering, they will go ahead and push up the release of their ‘¡Tré!’ album to Dec. 11 from Jan. 15. Drummer Tre Cool added, “We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned. If we couldn’t be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing.” ‘¡Tré!’ is the third of the band’s new album trilogy, which also included the recently released ‘¡Uno!’ and the Nov. 13 release ‘¡Dos!’ One of Green Day’s missed performances came over the weekend as they were scheduled to headline the Voodoo Arts + Music Experience in New Orleans. However, their Bay Area pals Metallica stepped in to deliver a stellar show . Vevo It’s been a great year for Pop Evil , who have traveled the world promoting their ‘War of Angels’ album, and with the video for their new single ‘Purple,’ they now have a document to show some of the great times they’ve had. The clip serves as a salute to life on the road for Pop Evil, with the camera taking you behind the scenes when the guys are having fun and getting the viewer right up onstage to see the enjoyment that not only the band, but their fans are getting out of the shows. The song lends itself well to soundtrack the clip, with the lyric “ It only hurts when it’s over ” serving a different meaning here as it can be interpreted that the band realize their time on the road with fans will eventually have to stop for a new record. But their faithful followers don’t have anything to worry about just yet, as they expect more shows in store for 2013. Pop Evil spent the summer on the Trespass America tour, and have recently been sharing stages with Black Label Society in Canada. Fans can catch the band Nov. 27 joining the stellar lineup for ShipRocked 2012 , featuring Godsmack , Korn , Five Finger Death Punch , Sevendust , P.O.D. and more. Singer Leigh Kakaty says of the rock cruise, “We are very excited to be a part of this heavyweight lineup of bands this year on ShipRocked. It’s going to be the mother of all cruises. Pop Evil is ready to set sail.” Watch Pop Evil’s ‘Purple’ Video [button href=”http://loudwire.com/pop-evil-joined-by-mick-mars-and-playboy-playmate-for-bosss-daughter-music-video/” title=”Next: Watch Pop Evil’s ‘Boss’ Daughter’ Video” align=”center”]
