Chris McKay, Getty Images Guns N’ Roses have kicked off their nearly monthlong residency in Las Vegas. Beginning on Halloween night, the band ripped through a set where singer Axl Rose gave a far greater performance than he has at recent shows. After a highly criticized performance by Axl Rose at Neil Young’s annual Bridge School benefit show, which was widely distributed online at the expense of Rose, the singer proved that he can still deliver a quality vocal show at this first Vegas show. Additionally, the city of Las Vegas celebrated the Guns N’ Roses residency by temporarily renaming Paradise Road as Paradise City Road . The band ripped through a 29-song set that included covers of Pink Floyd’s ‘Another Brick in the Wall Pt 2′ and Neil Young’s ‘Don’t Let It Bring You Down.’ The show also allowed band members Tommy Stinson and Bumblefoot to take lead vocals on their own original songs. Octane California rap-rockers Hollywood Undead are set to release their third album, ‘Notes from the Underground,’ in January, 2013, and they’ve just unleashed the disc’s lead single, ‘We Are.’ Hollywood Undead have released a lyric video (watch below) for ‘We Are,’ along with the song being available for download on iTunes . The fan reaction thus far has been incredibly positive to ‘We Are,’ which hones the band’s trademark radio rock sound with hip-hop influence. Vocalist Johnny 3 Tears explains, “The song is about collective resistance. It’s the silent majority, but we’re using Los Angeles as the backdrop. Every time we work with Danny, he takes our music to the next level. He’s willing to go as far outside the box as we are. As a whole, it’s a good introduction to ‘Notes From The Underground’ because it encompasses the band idealistically. Think of it as an ode to our misled youth.” He continues, ”We’ve maintained an underground identity. When we write songs, we’re coming from a place people don’t like to look at or talk about openly. As people get older, they get used to lying. We have a bond with so many kids because they have a trace of that honesty. They don’t know how bad some things get yet. We tell them the truth.” A few members of Hollywood Undead are currently wrapped up in a legal battle against former member Deuce , who is suing them for alleged assault and battery. “You know when six guys come up and go after you, when you’re drunk – I don’t really see that as a tough lose,” Deuce tells Loudwire. “If they want to grab one person and I grab one person, I’m a small dude I weigh 140 pounds, if they want to go one on one fine – not six guys jumpin’ you out of nowhere. YouTube Nirvana ’s memorable music video for ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ served as the battle cry for a whole new revolution for rock music, and now, a little piece of musical history from the clip is up for grabs. However, you better have deep pockets if you’re hoping to score the rock ‘n’ roll remnant. Most fans will recall the end of the iconic video when Kurt Cobain picks up a guitar and beats the heck out of it, smashing it to rubble. Now, more than two decades later, what’s left of the iconic bass smash is being auctioned off for big bucks. Christie’s of London has it going on the block Nov. 29 and they expect it to sell in the 25-40 thousand dollar range. The history of the bass has come to light as well, with ArtDaily reporting that bassist Krist Novoselic bought the 1960s Japanese Zen-On sunburst finish bass guitar at a pawn shop, while looking for something cheap that he knew would eventually be destroyed in the video shoot. According to musical lore, the remnants of the bass went home with a teenager who signed up to be an extra in the video. That’s not a bad parting gift. The bass joins other musical memorabilia for sale to the highest bidder including a high school yearbook signed by one Bob Dylan when he was a mere 17 years old. Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com 3 Doors Down are ramping up to the Nov. 19 release of their upcoming ‘ Greatest Hits ‘ collection, and they’ve taken the time to reflect on the songs and videos that got them where they are today with a series of video vignettes. Loudwire is proud to bring you the vignette explaining the story behind the videos for the hit single, ‘When I’m Gone.’ In the vignette, seen below, singer Brad Arnold shares how there were actually two clips for ‘When I’m Gone.’ Most fans are familiar with the one shot during their touring, where they played for military audiences, but the vocalist goes more in depth about a gothic style promo they shot in the South with a darker tone to it. The video ended up being a rather demanding shoot for the band. ‘When I’m Gone’ is just one of the hit singles on the ‘Greatest Hits’ compilation. Other standouts like ‘Kryptonite,’ ‘Duck and Run,’ ‘Here Without You,’ and ‘It’s Not My Time,’ turn up, as do three new songs — ‘One Light,’ ‘There’s a Life,’ and ‘Goodbyes.’ Republic Records will release the disc Nov. 19, and pre-orders are currently being taken here . Mark Metcalfe, Getty Images Chino Moreno is a busy man with a thirst for great music, and the Deftones vocalist says that while his band and the ‘ Koi No Yokan ‘ album are his main priorities, he’s also keeping himself occupied with various side projects in his spare time. Of Palms , the band that also features a number of Isis members, Moreno told Consequence of Sound’s Rock It Out Blog , “They recorded this music a long time ago, almost a year ago, so musically it’s been its own thing and I only got asked to do vocals on it not too long ago by my buddy Aaron [Harris], he’s the drummer. It’s not really a thing I rush on. Any of the projects I do, I don’t have to do them. I do them strictly because it’s fun to make music with friends and to do that.” Moreno says he tentatively envisions a spring release. The vocalist also revealed that there will be a third EP coming from ††† (pronounced “Crosses”) before a full-length is released, but because of his schedule, it likely won’t arrive until the band has some time when they can all do something. Moreno also suggested that Team Sleep has quietly been working on new music. He revealed, “Me and Todd [Wilkinson], our guitar player, we’ve been recording stuff back and forth, and [DJ] Crook too actually, he just gave me some beats last week when I was in San Francisco and so there’s stuff being put together.” The singer added that there’s plenty of material that had never been released, but like the other side projects, it was something that was fun and music would eventually come when the time is right. One project you likely won’t see Moreno part of again was his collaboration with Bassnectar. When asked if he was open for more, the vocalist revealed, “Not at all … Why did I do it? Because he asked me to do it. He’s a fan of ours and a friend of ours and I got paid a lot of money to do it for a soundtrack. The world is covered in cobwebs and decorated by maniacal pumpkins, horror films possess every television channel and the forces of evil are finally let loose for once autumn night as children are encouraged to take candy from strangers. Halloween is awesome, and it meshes beautifully with heavy metal; as demonstrated by this suburban light show set to Ozzy Osbourne ‘s ‘Bark at the Moon.’ As one of Ozzy’s trademark hits, ‘Bark at the Moon’ is the opening track to Osbourne’s 1983 album of the same name. With hearts still mending after the death of iconic guitarist Randy Rhoads, ‘Bark at the Moon’ was the first track unveiled to the public with Jake E. Lee manning the six-string. Lee had massive shoes to fill, but he crafted a masterpiece of a track with some insane shredding added for good measure. There lies a house in Odessa, Texas, where ‘Bark at the Moon’ has come to life through a spectacular light show. Before the track kicks in, the epic philharmonic piece ‘O Fortuna’ hit its conclusion as Ozzy’s classic track takes over. The inhabitants of this spooky manor created the display to sync up with ‘Bark at the Moon,’ as Ozzy’s lyrics are sung by a disembodied pumpkin face on the left side of the home, as fog, tombstones, a giant illuminated spider web and even a giant inflatable Godzilla invade the rest of the Texas home.
