Photo Credit: Erich Saide Odd news: YouTube have apparently realized that they host copy-written material! As the world’s largest video hosting and sharing service, YouTube hosts an endless amount of content uploaded by people who have no legal right to do so. YouTube is now ruling with an iron fist against hosting such content, starting with the music of Devin Townshend . Unfortunately, the only issue is that YouTube has been pulling down videos that Townsend himself had posted legally. According to Tweets sent out by Townsend, some of his videos have been mysteriously vanished from his YouTube account. Along with the videos being taken down, YouTube sent Townsend copyright infringement warnings about posting his own music. Townsend comically tweeted: HA! Got a copyright infringement warning from YouTube for posting my own shit…AWESOME!!!!Suck it!=] — Devin Townsend (@dvntownsend) September 18, 2012 Youtube is pulling lots of my own stuff for illegal content. So freaking weird. Get over yourself, money isn’t everything. — Devin Townsend (@dvntownsend) September 19, 2012 ? David Livingston, Getty Images For many metalheads, Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick is considered one of the greatest of all time. As one of the most talented and sonically diverse guitarists in music today, Skolnick possesses the skills of a master metal, jazz and symphonic artist, which is why he’s the perfect teacher and host for the new series ‘Louder Education.’ Established by Metal Injection and Peavey, ‘Louder Education’ is hosted at Tomato’s House of Rock (T.H.O.R.) in New York City. Along with Skolnick, ‘Louder Education’ is co-hosted by Chris ‘Tomato’ Harfenist and is attended by the T.H.O.R. students, a collective group of young musicians looking to hone their creative abilities. The first episode of ‘Louder Education’ features Charred Walls of the Damned drummer Richard Christy , who also had legendary runs playing with Iced Earth and Death . Additionally, Christy can be heard on the Howard Stern Show as an on-air personality and master prank caller. The drummer shares his life’s story as a musician, including how he was recruited to play for Death, living life on the road + much more. As is if this wasn’t cool enough for the T.H.O.R. students to witness, some of the kids even got the opportunity to jam Death’s classic track ‘Crystal Mountain’ with Richard Christy manning the drums. Liz Ramanand, Loudwire / Ethan Miller, Getty Images Down and former bassist Rex Brown reunited onstage Tuesday night (Sept. 18) for the first time since the musician exited the band last year. The veteran rocker and longtime cohort of Down singer Phil Anselmo dating back to the Pantera years, came out to perform during the encore songs of ‘Stone the Crow’ and ‘Bury Me in Smoke’ during the group’s set in Dallas. (Watch footage below.) Brown first took leave from the band in 2009 while suffering from pancreatitis. Anselmo stated in an interview, “I gave it my all and I love Rex Brown with all of my f—ing heart and soul, but goddamnit he will not put down that f—ing bottle for any of us.” During his absence, the band had Patrick Bruders fill in for Brown and the bassist remained after Brown revealed his exit from the group last year. Brown later found a new musical home in a band called Kill Devil Hill . Down just released the first of four scheduled EPs yesterday. Dubbed ‘ Down IV Part 1 – The Purple EP ,’ the set has already spawned the single ‘ Witchtripper .’ ? Facebook: Salome Kat Katz is the screaming banshee of Massachusetts grind mavens Agoraphobic Nosebleed. After being welcomed into the band, she has since provided vocals for various splits, EPs and their 2009 full-length masterpiece ‘Agorapocalypse.’ As one of three Agoraphobic Nosebleed vocalists, Katz brings a more sharp and sonically piercing scream to the band, delivering an entirely new character into ANb’s music, which is both devastating and captivating. Katz is also known for her work with Virginian doom metal band Salome. The three-piece formed in 2006, gaining a significant following in the metal underground for their powerful and patient sound, mixed with the high-shrieks and low gutturals of Katz. Unfortunately, Salome split up in 2011, shortly after releasing the critically acclaimed full-length ‘Terminal.’ Still active with Agoraphobic Nosebleed and having contributed to the music of Pig Destroyer , including their upcoming full-length, ‘Book Burner,’ Katz is truly one of metal’s finest vocalists, and deserves the upmost respect as a talent and pioneer for female metal musicians. Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com For those music fans that woke up with a Halloween hangover, Halestorm are offering up a handful of everlasting treats in the form of videos of their recent live performance for ‘The Live Room.’ The band took over the Warner Sound studio yesterday in New York City for their high energy set. Looking like a studio session but feeling more like a rock show, the performance found Lzzy Hale and her crew rocking through several songs during the session. Songs like ‘I Get Off’ and ‘Bet You Wish You Had Me Back’ brought fans back to the band’s 2009 Atlantic self-titled debut offering up a bit of raucous rock and a big booming ballad with a one-two punch. Making quick work of their latest release, 2012’s ‘The Strange Case Of…,’ Halestorm mixed it up performing ‘In Your Room,’ ‘Love Bites (So Do I),’ and closing it out reminiscing with ‘Here’s to Us.’ Videos of the five songs can be seen below, serving as a precursor for what fans can expect on the band’s upcoming headlining tour that kicks off Nov. 8 in Mobile, Ala. and currently runs through Dec. 15 in Orlando, Fla.
