Korn’s Munky Unveils Fear and the Nervous System Documentary

Ethan Miller, Getty Images Korn guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer has taken his experimental rock side project Fear and the Nervous System on the road for the first time, playing two shows over the weekend in California. He has also unveiled a documentary on the project (watch below). The band’s self-titled debut album was released last month, and the documentary features never-before-seen footage of 2007 jam sessions with Brooks Wackerman (Bad Religion) and Billy Gould ( Faith No More ) that shaped the album. “Zac Baird (Korn touring keyboardist) and I had worked on a few ideas while touring with Korn,” Shaffer says. “So, when we started to record, those song ideas were our jumping off point. But, 90 percent of the album was created on the spot, then recorded. We were lucky to get the people we wanted to become involved with the project.” Rehearsal footage of Fear and the Nervous System preparing for last weekend’s kickoff of their first tour is also included. In addition to Shaffer, Baird, Wackerman and Gould, the band includes Repeater vocalist Steve Krolikowski and guitarist Leopold Ross. Fear and the Nervous System have two more shows scheduled next weekend. On Friday (Oct. 19), they will play in Bakersfield, Calif., and on Saturday (Oct. 20), they are in West Hollywood at the Roxy. Green Day Producer: Billie Joe Armstrong Could Be in Rehab for a While

Spencer Kaufman, Loudwire Last month after an onstage breakdown during the iHeartRadio music festival in Las Vegas, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong checked into rehab for substance abuse. Now, Warner Bros. Records Chairman and producer Rob Cavallo is opening up about the potentially long road ahead for Armstrong and the band. Commenting on the seriousness of Armstrong’s condition, Cavallo told Rolling Stone that “his rehab is no joke” and that Armstrong is “under medical supervision for a while to get him clean.” Green Day already canceled their headlining spot at the Voodoo Music and Arts Experience at the end of October ( with Metallica filling in for them ), but the band has additional tour dates kicking off in November. Judging by Cavallo’s comments, more cancellations may be coming. “His doctors are still evaluating,” Cavallo said. “All I can say is I don’t know if we’ll see him before or after Christmas. It’s basically undetermined when he’ll be back.” Bassist Mike Dirnt also recently spoke out about Armstrong’s current state of mind in an interview with BBC Radio 1 citing that the pressure of promoting three albums at one time weighed on all of them. “With hindsight 20/20, it was a tremendous undertaking,” Dirnt admitted. “Although we were having fun, we didn’t take our nose out of the book for a long time. I think it catches up with you a little bit. We definitely just jumped off a moving train.” He also said that Armstrong’s breakdown wasn’t a complete shock. “There were signs of things hitting the fan,” he said. “We hadn’t slept in forever and Billie had definitely had the worst of it.” He continued, explaining, “He’d been going through his own struggles . . . We were there with him, but you can only handle things on your own . . . At the end of the day, when we got off the road, the most important thing was my friend’s life.” Here’s wishing Armstrong a speedy recovery and a quick return to the stage. DJ Lethal Returns to Limp Bizkit After Posting Apology via Twitter

Ryan Pierse, Getty Images It seems that all is right in the world of  Limp Bizkit  again, as estranged member  DJ Lethal has returned to the band after apologizing for his actions during a feud that had lasted several months. DJ Lethal had recently gone on a Twitter tirade about Bizkit. In one particular tweet, Lethal posted , “I hate a–holes that judge me for leaving a ‘band’ I was in for 15 years. Your like a f-n moose that got lucky!! F— Fred Durst. I was talented and was an artist [long] before u even knew who Fred was. If [you’re] gonna be a #wigger, than do your homework. #houseofpain b-tch!” Luckily for Bizkit fans, the battle seems to have been brought to a halt, as DJ Lethal once again went to Twitter on Oct. 10. Here is a compilation of a series of Tweets from the turntablist: I want to clear the air about limp bizkit. I have had some personal issues over the last few years that have led to some outbursts. I lot of the things I said about the band and fred was out of pain and anger. None of which I really meant deep down inside. So I think I owe it to fred,Wes,sam and john and the fans to really admit the truth. I had some problems. Be it partying on the road. Talking shit when I was drunk and causing internal conflicts. Today is the day that I can finally be a man and step up and say I’m sorry. The rants are done. And were really embarrassing. I think the guys in the band were actually looking out,I really needed a wake up call. So to finally come clean is really hard but the weight of the world on my shoulders is even harder to carry around. I’m in a great place now and want to thank everyone who had my back through the dark times. So to all the fans and the band. I really was fkd up for a while. I’m sorry. Fred and the band are great people. We’re all human. All love!! Feels great to finally step up to the plate. I hope we can resolve our issues because I miss my friends and band mates. FC Ty for his help. The guys in our band are true gentlemen. Giving me a second chance after the stupid shit I talked and the way I acted really shows class.LBF Now it’s time to step up to the plate and I’m hitting this ball out of the park. I was wondering how it would To be back. AMAZING!grateful” In response, Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland tweeted out a big virtual kiss to Lethal, simply writing , “Muah! @djlethal.” And in Lethal’s latest Tweet, posted Sunday (Oct. 14), he stated that he would be hitting the studio with Bizkit to write songs for their upcoming album. Chris Cornell and Ben Shepherd of Soundgarden Reflect on Breakup, Talk New Single

SoundgardenWorld.com Soundgarden ’s new album ‘King Animal’ is due out on Nov. 13 and fans received their first taste of what’s in store with the disc’s debut single ‘Been Away Too Long.’ According to the band, the new tune is a very literal take on their extended absence and return to music. In a new interview with OnstageWeb frontman Chris Cornell and bassist Ben Shepherd sat down to talk about their break up, reuniting, the first single, and today’s music scene. The first thing they tackle is the single ‘Been Away Too Long. When asked what it really means, Cornell responded, “It means that a group, in this case personified by Soundgarden, has been away and the length of that away time has suddenly become maybe overextended.” He continued, “So been away too long, like thank God we’re back now. It seems like it might have been a little bit too long for us to be gone.” On the reason why Soundgarden broke up in 1997, Cornell explains it was everything but the music, saying, “We broke up because we were bored of the periphery, all of the things that are outside of the band playing music  and writing songs, playing shows – that part got really boring.” Shepherd chimed in as well, adding, “The part that is outside of writing songs and playing shows. So it wasn’t the Soundgarden thing, it was the outside of Soundgarden.” In the absence of Soundgarden, both seemed surprised that a new rock revival hasn’t taken over. “I always expected that after we broke up or even maybe before we broke up that there should be or would be some very vital scene, numerous interesting rock bands that are kind of taking the history of rock music and making it their own,” explained Cornell. “Updating it and making it their own vital thing like a child with a new toy.” Check out the full interview with Cornell and Shepherd below. Man Arrested After Breaking Into Frances Bean Cobain’s Los Angeles Home

Photo by Hedi Slimane Despite being the child of one of rock’s most famous frontmen, Frances Bean Cobain has managed to maintain a relatively low profile. However, the late Kurt Cobain ‘s 20-year-old daughter seems to pop into headlines every once in a while for reasons of which she has no control. On Saturday (Oct. 13), a man was arrested for breaking into Frances Bean’s Los Angeles home after a house sitter discovered him inside the dwelling, reports TMZ . The suspect, a white man in his 20s, told the house sitter that he was there with Frances Bean’s permission. However, when cops arrived at the Hollywood Hills home and reached out to Frances Bean, she told them she had no idea who he was. The man was subsequently arrested for burglary and remains in custody. Earlier this year, Franced Bean unwittingly made headlines when her mother, Courtney Love , accused Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl of hitting on her daughter. Love later apologized  to her daughter after both Frances Bean and Grohl lashed out at the claims. In the summer of 2011, after being out of the spotlight for several years, Frances Bean emerged in an edgy photo spread. See the stunning pictures here .
