Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine Shares Concerns Over Vocal Damage + Cursing

Kevin Winter, Getty Images Megadeth ‘s Dave Mustaine had his share of health problems over the years, but the recent discovery of vocal damage had him a little concerned. The frontman headed online to his Facebook page to update fans on how he’s holding up. Mustaine has also been working toward a new record and figured it was time to share all things Megadeth, including his health status as well as revealing another recently discovered truth. The leader says that after hearing some of his interviews and watching footage of shows, he realizes his cursing has gotten a little out of hand, and while he may not scale it back completely, he’s definitely more conscious about how much he’s doing it. In his message, he stated: Droogies, I wanted to check in with you as I get ready to start tracking my 14 Megadeth record. For some of you that are new fans; the word ‘Droogie’ may seem a strange way to start a letter, but it means ‘friend’ supposedly in Russian slang. I got the idea to call you that from watching Alex from ‘A Clockwork Orange’ call his two co-conspirators that. So, now you know I ain’t calling you “druggies.” Onward to the update. Last Thursday I went to see an ENT (ear, nose, and throat Doctor), to find out the status of the damage to my vocal chords that they discovered prior to my surgery, and my neck from after the surgery. I was told during the first MRIs that I had a cyst or something on my vocal chords, and I didn’t give it anymore thought, because the fusion was way more important. I still find it laughable that someone I know said I was a p—y while lying in an ER awaiting spinal surgery for contemplating cancelling the BIG 4 show in NYC. I guess the old saying, ‘You spot it — you got it!’ applies here, except I don’t want to offend our female fans by comparing this excrement to a body part of theirs. I walked away from the surgery, which was done after the concert (who’s the p—y now?) and was a complete success, thinking I had nodes or polyps or something, and I wanted to wait until a year after the surgery to go get checked, because I just didn’t want to go under the knife again that soon, if of course I had too. Thank God I don’t. Fortunately, if you can say that, my problem with my vocal chords is treatable, and it is just a matter of exercise, diet, and eating habits. I started drinking Aloe Juice, taking a tablet for my stomach, and I have to cut out some things I like. Coffee is one of things, but since I am not a cheerleader for overpriced — overrated Starbucks, like Thor and Junior, I am not taking this too hard. I am bummed about no chocolate (I love chocolate!), and tomatoes (no spaghetti or pizza), but I am loving this ‘Countdown’ 20th Anniversary tour, and with the new record starting next week, singing is more important to me than ever. Thanks for all of your support through this whole ordeal, and I really, really look forward to seeing you at some point before the end of the year. Check out our support band Kyng and lemme know what you think. I like ‘em and I hope you will too. One last thing, I don’t generally watch video of myself, unless we are mixing or editing something, and over the last few months I had to; for one reason or another. I am really embarrassed by how much I swear or swore on stage and in interviews. I’m not a prude, but I am sorry for my language and some of the offensive words I chose to say. We all have said stuff we regret, and while I don’t ‘regret it’ I do feel that you deserve better from me. Here’s to a great fu– erm, a great flipping new record and tour! Dave Mustaine The singer recently revealed that he’ll be working with acclaimed producer Johnny K. , who has produced hit records for Disturbed , Staind , and 3 Doors Down among others. Guns N’ Roses’ Las Vegas Residency Leads to Temporary Road Name Change

Theo Wargo, Getty Images The city of Las Vegas is definitely pulling out the stops for Guns N’ Roses upcoming residency at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino . The latest welcome gift for the band was the temporary renaming of one of Las Vegas’ streets to mark the occasion, as Paradise Road will now be known as Paradise City Road. Blabbermouth reports that Clark County Commissioner Mary Beth Scow will declare the street as Paradise City Road during an official ceremony this coming Monday (Oct. 29) at 2:30PM local time. The band members will be presented with an official street sign, though in a recent Facebook posting , it looks as though they’ve already seen it. The group is expected to address the crowd and pose for photos. Guns N’ Roses residency runs from Oct. 31-Nov. 24 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Much like they did when Motley Crue came to town, the casino will have special Guns N’ Roses $25 chips to gamble with during the run. In addition, the casino has come up with a number of specialty themed Guns N’ Roses drinks , including such thirst-quenching concoctions as the November Rain, the Patience Punch, the Paradise City Limits and the Axl Rose. Guns N’ Roses have been making more high profile appearances leading up to the shows. The band recently performed at Neil Young ‘s Bridge School benefit and Axl Rose made an extremely rare late night appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live . Slipknot’s Current and Former Frontmen to Share Stage at Stone Sour Show

Mary Oullette, SheWillShootYou.com / Facebook: Painface Slipknot fans may have their heads implode this week in Des Moines when Stone Sour plays at the local club Wooly’s. That’s because Slipknot’s original singer, Anders Colsefni, will take the stage Monday night (Oct. 29) with his current band Painface to open the show for Corey Taylor ‘s hit-making outfit. Colsefni appeared on the Slipknot’s 1996 demo, ‘Mate Feed Kill Repeat,’ before leaving the band a year later. The group recruited their current vocalist, Taylor, to take over after Colsefni’s exit. Taylor is currently rocking with his other band Stone Sour, while Slipknot enjoys a bit a temporary hiatus . In a posting at Painface’s Facebook page , the group revealed, “Due to the amazingly gracious Corey Taylor, Painface has been asked to open for Stone Sour this Monday Oct. 29 at Wooley’s. We are excited and proud to be able to support one of our favorite bands and fellow Des Moines musicians. The show is sold out but we hope that you hold up the horns in your heart for us if you can’t be there. There will be more information to follow.” In addition to Painface, Blabbermouth reports that Colsefni recently made a guest appearance on Des Moines rock outfit Green Death’s latest EP, ‘Dawn of the Death,’ which arrives digitally Oct. 30. As for Taylor, Stone Sour is taking up plenty of his time. The band just released the first of their two-part ‘ House of Gold & Bones ‘ album, and they are also plotting comic book and potential film companion pieces to go with the discs. After the performance at Wooly’s, the group will spend most of the rest of the year on tour outside of the U.S. [button href=”http://loudwire.com/slipknot-the-heretic-anthem-top-21st-century-metal-songs/” title=”Next: Slipknot – Top 21st Century Metal Songs” align=”center”]

3 Doors Down’s Brad Arnold Shares Inspiration Behind New Song ‘One Light’

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com 3 Doors Down are gearing up to release their ‘The Greatest Hits’ collection on Nov. 19. The ‘Best Of’ compilation features nine of their number one hits throughout their massively successful career. In addition to the hits, the band crafted three new bonus tracks for fans to feast on, including ‘One Light,’ one of their most inspirational songs to date. The track made its debut at the Republican National Convention when the band performed it live. With lyrics like: “ So come with me / Let’s take this world and make a change / And we’ll give this more than we can take away ,” the tune seems to lends itself perfectly to the upcoming election, but frontman Brad Arnold said the song is much bigger than that. First and foremost Arnold said that the song, at its core, is not politically motivated. He explained, “I’ve never been political at all and I never will be, but the song really does apply, and it applies to either side.” The message the song delivers is a lot larger than any one political party though. “It’s a message to people, essentially young people, a call to come with me, and take our world and make a change,” Arnold said. “It does relate to the election, but it’s so much more than that because the song is really about giving back to the world more than you take from it.” Arnold and 3 Doors Down hope the song will help spread their inspirational message. “If everybody had that attitude, we’d live in a perfect world,” states Arnold. “I really hope that that song does inspire somebody to take their school and make a change for the better, to just find a problem and be that one light to shine for other people.” Tune in next week for our full interview with 3 Doors Down frontman Brad Arnold. Deftones’ Chino Moreno Offers Update on His Many Side Projects

Mark Metcalfe, Getty Images Chino Moreno is a busy man with a thirst for great music, and the Deftones vocalist says that while his band and the ‘ Koi No Yokan ‘ album are his main priorities, he’s also keeping himself occupied with various side projects in his spare time. Of Palms , the band that also features a number of Isis members, Moreno told Consequence of Sound’s Rock It Out Blog , “They recorded this music a long time ago, almost a year ago, so musically it’s been its own thing and I only got asked to do vocals on it not too long ago by my buddy Aaron [Harris], he’s the drummer. It’s not really a thing I rush on. Any of the projects I do, I don’t have to do them. I do them strictly because it’s fun to make music with friends and to do that.” Moreno says he tentatively envisions a spring release. The vocalist also revealed that there will be a third EP coming from ††† (pronounced “Crosses”) before a full-length is released, but because of his schedule, it likely won’t arrive until the band has some time when they can all do something. Moreno also suggested that Team Sleep has quietly been working on new music. He revealed, “Me and Todd [Wilkinson], our guitar player, we’ve been recording stuff back and forth, and [DJ] Crook too actually, he just gave me some beats last week when I was in San Francisco and so there’s stuff being put together.” The singer added that there’s plenty of material that had never been released, but like the other side projects, it was something that was fun and music would eventually come when the time is right. One project you likely won’t see Moreno part of again was his collaboration with Bassnectar. When asked if he was open for more, the vocalist revealed, “Not at all … Why did I do it? Because he asked me to do it. He’s a fan of ours and a friend of ours and I got paid a lot of money to do it for a soundtrack. It’s as simple as that, you know?” Watch Chino Moreno Discuss Deftones + His Side Projects [button href=”http://loudwire.com/best-deftones-songs/” title=”Next: 10 Best Deftones Songs” align=”center”]

Watch Metallica + More Perform Live From the Voodoo Festival

Kevin Winter, Getty Images New Orleans is the place to be this weekend for the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience, but even if you’re not anywhere near Louisiana, you can still catch Metallica and more this evening with the Voodoo Festival webstream (which you can watch below). Actual streaming footage from the festival begins today courtesy of Ustream at 1PM ET/10AM PT. Today’s lineup includes such acts as Silversun Pickups , AWOLNATION, Justice, and The Features among others. Metallica’s performance is set for 9:30PM ET/6:30PM PT. Fans can also catch highlights from the Voodoo festival on Fuse TV throughout the day. Metallica were a last minute addition to the Voodoo festival lineup, as original Saturday headliners Green Day bowed out after singer Billie Joe Armstrong ‘s recent admittance to rehab. Guitarist Kirk Hammett stated , “I’m very honored that we’re able to help our friends in Green Day. I wish Billie Joe the best of luck, we’ll do anything to help them out. It’s great to be able to help him out.” Of the event itself, Hammett gushed, “New Orleans during Halloween, I’m really excited about that. I love New Orleans, I love the voodoo folklore, I love the vampire folklore. It should be pretty interesting.” While the band have curtailed their touring for the time being, Voodoo gives the group the perfect showcase in advance of their ‘ Quebec Magnetic ‘ DVD, which is slated for a Dec. 10 release. Lars Ulrich stated earlier this year that he thought it would be 2014 before fans would see a new record, which means studio time will likely take up a good portion of next year. However, Metallica do have plans to headline the Rock in Rio festival and take part in Australia’s Soundwave traveling tour next year. But for now, be sure to check out Metallica and other acts playing today’s Voodoo Arts + Music Experience in the live stream below.
