Kevin Winter, Getty Images Rage Against the Machine bassist Tim Commerford gave a “maybe” when asked last month by TMZ if the band was going to be making a new album. Now, Commerford has given a slightly different response when asked the question yet again, with an added dig at Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan in reaction to the politician’s claims that he’s a certified Rage fan. A few days ago, TMZ caught up with Commerford in a parking lot again (watch below), and once again asked the bassist about a new RATM album. “Definitely, maybe. Anything’s possible,” said Commerford, adding yet another positive, yet mysterious answer to one of rock music’s most burning questions. He was also asked about Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan, who earlier this year claimed to be a fan of Rage Against the Machine. Commerford tells TMZ, ”Clearly he’s not that smart to be admitting that. It just seems like it’s stupid for him to even bring it up, so he’s obviously not that smart of a guy.” When the interview suggested it might be the band’s “infectious bass lines,” Commerford quipped, “It must be the bass, it’s gotta be the bass.” Commerford’s Rage bandmate Tom Morello previously commented on Ryan’s love of rage, saying , ”Paul Ryan’s love of Rage Against the Machine is amusing, because he is the embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades.” Whomever you choose to support in the 2012 Presidential Election, make sure to go out and vote tomorrow (Nov. 6) if you’re a U.S. citizen 18 years of age or older. Godsmack’s Sully Erna Pulls Out of Texas Marathon Due to Injury
Liz Ramanand, Loudwire After announcing his participation in the San Antonio Rock ‘n’ Roll marathon a couple of months ago, Godsmack frontman Sully Erna has been forced to pull out of the Nov. 11 race as the result of an unspecified injury. Back in August, Erna expressed his enthusiasm about the marathon by writing on his Facebook page: “Started officially training 2 weeks ago for the 26.2 mile Rock N Roll Marathon in San Antonio, Nov. 11th 2012! Hoping to get sponsors and fans to help support me and raise money for children’s hospitals around the country.” Now, a new post on Godsmack’s official site reports, “Unfortunately because of an injury, Sully has chosen to back out of the San Antonio Marathon on Nov 11. He plans on continuing his training as soon as he is feeling better and appreciates all the fan support thus far. Fortunately, there will be other marathons in the near future and he looks forward to participating in one of them. He may have to take a little break for now, but he WILL be back in action very soon!” While the injury was not specified, Erna did have knee surgery within the past year and was seen playing shows with a knee brace. However, he tweeted, “Knee is holding up great so far!” earlier this year. Godsmack are set to play this year’s ShipRocked Cruise with a massive lineup that includes Korn, Five Finger Death Punch, P.O.D., Sevendust and many others. Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine on Controversial Comments: ‘I Learned a Valuable Lesson’
Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has been one of the most discussed and controversial musicians of 2012. After a myriad of questionable quotes throughout the year, Mustaine admits that he’s “learned a valuable lesson from all this stuff,” concerning the negative attention he’s received from various claims. Throughout the year, we’ve reported on Mustaine’s support of former Republican Presidential candidate Rick Santorum; his opposition to gay marriage ; telling starving African women to “ put a plug in it ” in regards to the inability to properly support a child; insisting that the President was born in Kenya even after Obama had released his long-form birth certificate, while likening First Lady Michelle Obama to a “black widow”; and claiming that the President had staged various shooting massacres to increase support for gun control. The slew of comments has resulted in immense criticism from fellow musicians, with GWAR ‘s Oderus Urungus telling Mustaine to “ shut the f— up ,” Deicide ‘s Glen Benton calling Mustaine a “ prolapsed rectum ,” Metallica ‘s James Hetfield giving Mustaine the title of “ big mouth ,” and Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx labeling the Megadeth frontman as a “ f—ing a–hole .” It’s been quite a year for Mustaine, and in a recent interview with Rolling Stone , the legendary musician looked back at his many controversies. “You can’t joke around very much anymore without people misinterpreting what you’re saying,” begins Mustaine. “You know, I probably should’ve said things differently. I probably should’ve skipped that altogether,” Mustaine says about his comments on Obama staging shootings on U.S. soil. “I learned a valuable lesson from all of this stuff.” Mustaine was repeating a theory by pro-gun activist and head of Guns Owners of America, Larry Pratt, when the musician made his comments about the “false flag” shootings. “He [Pratt] said something about it and no one went after him. But everyone went crazy on me,” Mustaine says. “I’ve been talking about politics my whole career. The second album – my God, it shows the U.N. completely blown up and destroyed. So I don’t know why, all of a sudden, now’s the time for people to take exception with what I’m saying … I need to remember that being a public figure, I have a choice. I can be a really good example for people – which I really desire to do – or not.” [button href=”http://loudwire.com/megadeth-dave-mustaine-discusses-being-hit-beer-rocks-croatian-festival/” title=”Dave Mustaine Discusses Being Hit With Beer + Rocks at Croatian Fest” align=”center”]
