The 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl continues its quest to uncover the best hard rock football theme by matching up Rob Zombie ‘s ‘Superbeast’ against Five Finger Death Punch ‘s ‘Back for More.’ On one hand, you’ve got Rob Zombie’s ‘Superbeast,’ a highly-aggressive, hard-driving track certain to amp up just about any listener. And when you think of a super beast, a few of the NFL’s elite, most pumped up offensive and defensive linemen definitely come to mind. And where else but in the trenches would you expect to find a super beast? On the other hand, there’s Five Finger Death Punch, who’ve been cranking out aggressive hit after hit over the last half-decade. The band’s hot streak included the song ‘Back for More,’ which delivers the messages, “ Let’s get it on / It’s time to get in the game / You gotta fight til it hurts and then you do it again .” This dog-eat-dog track is about emerging victorious and not sparing the weak. It’s time to get amped up for some football and in our 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, we’re attempting to find out which track gets you most in the mood for gridiron aggression. This first round matchup pits the masked rockers of Slipknot against the “Southtown” favorites, P.O.D. While Slipknot offer plenty of unrelenting tracks, ‘Wait and Bleed’ is arguably the best fit the most for football. As Corey Taylor sings about the hate raising up inside of him, the listener can definitely apply that to the competition at hand. And given the violent nature of football, there will definitely be some bleeding coming soon. P.O.D.’s hit song ‘Boom’ has long been a sports anthem, with singer Sonny Sandoval seemingly calling out the competition after a particularly hard hit. As the song says, “ Boom! / Here comes the boom! / How you like me now? ” There’s no mistaking that sentiment when it comes to football. Which one of these rock warriors will be left standing when Round 1 is complete? That’s up to you to decide. Listen to both tracks below, then vote in the poll provided. There is such a thing as too much adrenaline pumping and this 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl pairing will definitely hype you up. We’ve got the frenetic and somewhat schizophrenic System of a Down favorite ‘Psycho’ squaring off against Korn ‘s monstrous rocker ‘Freak on a Leash.’ In this fast-paced, need-it-now world there’s probably no shortage of football players that can identify with the “ psycho, groupie, cocaine, crazy ” world that Serj Tankian sings about in the band’s ‘Toxicity’ album favorite ‘Psycho.’ Regardless of the lyrical content, the speedy rocker has plenty of energy to spare. The other side of this battle is Korn’s ‘Freak on a Leash,’ a monstrous track about someone ready to unleash the demon inside. There’s just something about the spirit of competition that changes people, and that “freak” can get unleashed as soon as the whistle blows. So which of these tracks gets you more amped up for football? Listen to both System of a Down and Korn below, then vote in our 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl poll. There may be no more testosterone-fueled pairing in our 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl than this one. On one hand you’ve got the in-your-face aggression of Pantera versus the all-out brutality of Drowning Pool , and you get to determine which band’s track gets you more fired up for football. Pantera’s ‘F—ing Hostile’ is exactly what the name says. Between the amped up guitar play of Dimebag Darrell and the speedy drumming of Vinnie Paul , there’s no way this song could do anything but get you hyped up into some sort of frenzy. Add in Phil Anselmo ‘s lyrics of aggression and you’ve got the makings of a song that gives you pent up energy to spare. Meanwhile, Drowning Pool’s ‘Bodies’ has long been associated with sporting events due to the aggressive nature of its lyrics. With late vocalist Dave Williams’ repetitive chorus begging, “ Let the bodies hit the floor/ Let the bodies hit the floor ,” this song seems the perfect fit to soundtrack a massive collision, or, at the very least, to unleash some pent up fury. So which one of these high-energy rockers will advance in the 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl? You tell us. Listen to both tracks below, then vote for your favorite in the poll provided. Photos by Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com It’s an inspirational message versus an in-your-face proclamation in this 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl matchup. This first round pairing sees Avenged Sevenfold attempting to ‘Seize the Day’ against Shinedown , who appear ready to ‘Devour’ their new foes. Though a little on the softer side than what we usually get from Avenged Sevenfold, ‘Seize the Day’ is no less powerful in message. The inspirational track warns the listener to “ Seize the day or die regretting the time you lost, ” a sentiment that isn’t lost on today’s NFL player. With such a shortened season as compared to other sports, it’s important to make every moment count and Avenged Sevenfold definitely connect with a football theme in the song. Shinedown’s ‘Devour,’ meanwhile, has that great opening build just waiting to explode. As Brent Smith sings about taking it and taking it and taking it over and over again, it’s no wonder that by the time we get to the chorus he’s ready to devour, proclaiming, “It’s your final hour.” If that doesn’t speak to the mentality and pressure of an NFL player, what does? So there you have it — Avenged Sevenfold versus Shinedown. Which band advances? Your vote will decide. Listen to both tracks below, then vote in the poll provided. Adam Bettcher, Getty Images / Trapt Official You’ve got to be tough physically as well as mentally to play the game of football and our next Loudwire Rock Bowl first round matchup pits songs from two bands that embrace that mindset. Disturbed ‘s ‘Indestructible’ squares off against Trapt ‘s ‘Headstrong.’ Disturbed’s ‘Indestructible’ is definitely a motivational track, with David Draiman singing about having to “carry the colors again” in honor of an oath he’s sworn to defend. Meanwhile, the song discusses an inner strength that has emerged, thus making them “an indestructible master of war.” This song about going to battle embraces the team spirit and self-motivation as well as just about any track in our competition. Trapt, meanwhile, are also up to fighting the good fight with their anthem ‘Headstrong.’ As the track says, “ Back off, I’ll take you on / Headstrong, to take on anyone .” This song about mental toughness and not stepping down from a fight is perfect for the mindset of an NFL player. It’s also a solid choice to square off against Disturbed in round one of the 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl. So which track will be advancing? That’s for you to decide.
