Kent Abbott, Guitarist for the Bands Grade and Somehow Hollow, Dies at 32

Kent Abbott, guitarist for the bands Grade and Somehow Hollow, has died at the age of 32. Although no cause of death has been reported, we can confirm that Abbott passed away on Jan. 7. In the worlds of underground hardcore and modern punk, Abbott was an admired and respected guitarist, playing along with two truly solid bands. Canadian hardcore band Grade lasted for nearly a decade, releasing five full-length albums, three of which were put out by Victory Records. Abbott joined the band toward the end of their run, before the group split up in 2002. Grade posted a set of tweets paying tribute to their fone-time guitarist: Shocked and saddened to hear that friend and Grade/Somehow Hollow guitarist Kent Abbott passed away. All our thoughts are with his family. — Grade (@GradeHC) January 9, 2013 We will miss your energy, laughter and kind spirit. RIP Kent Abbott. Truly one of a kind. — Grade (@GradeHC) January 10, 2013 Kent Abbott also founded the band Somehow Hollow in 2000, creating Canada’s answer to up-tempo SoCal pop-punk. The band only released one full-length album, ‘Busted Wings and Rusted Halos,’ in 2003, capturing a definitive early ’00s pop-punk sound. “Kent had a passion for music and had played at venues around the world,” reads an  obituary  for Abbott. “He acquired a super sense of humour, was always attracted to people and would make them laugh.” In memory of Kent Abbott and his dedication to music, check out his work with both Grade and Somehow Hollow in the videos below. Ghost Reveal ‘Infestissumam’ Album Release Plans

Metal Blade Records Swedish metal outfit  Ghost have been pounding away in the studio, working to complete their latest effort and the band is happy to announce that ‘Infestissumam’ will arrive next spring. The follow-up to the critically hailed ‘Opus Eponymous’ album was produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Deftones, Death Angel) and will be released by Loma Vista Recordings. The 10-track set features the song ‘Secular Haze,’ which the band debuted live during their performance in Linkoping, Sweden over the weekend. Video from the show can be seen below. ‘Secular Haze’ is also available as a free download at the band’s website . If you doubt their dedication to all things hard and heavy, one of the band’s nameless members recently stated about their position toward rock , “Us being faceless and dressing apart from standard couture was a way for everyone to be able to connect with the concept. Being from a metal background, we know that it’s all about looking the part — the choice of shoes you wear, for some bands, proves the value of the song. It’s just a d–k-measuring competition. Hard rock is about who has the biggest d–k and pop music is about who’s got the smallest. I guess we’re pretty average. But in order to have a big d–k, you have to have it mentally.” Ghost, ‘Infestissumam’ Track Listing 1. ‘Infestissumam’ 2. ‘Per Aspera Ad Inferi’ 3. ‘Secular Haze’ 4. ‘Jigolo Har Megiddo’ 5. ‘Ghuleh / Zombie Queen’ 6. ‘Year Zero’ 7. ‘Idolatrine’ 8. ‘Body and Blood’ 9. ‘Depth of Satans Eyes’ 10. ‘Monstrance Clock’ Watch Ghost Perform ‘Secular Haze’ [button href=”http://loudwire.com/nameless-ghoul-of-ghost-talks-touring-anonymity-more/” title=”Next: Ghost Member Discusses Band Anonymity” align=”center”] ?

Roadrunner Leave it to Corey Taylor to go big with his latest vision. The Stone Sour singer just continued his dedication to the ambitious ‘ House of Gold & Bones ‘ double-album by introducing intricate packaging for the two releases, which when put together forms the shape of a house. Fans will be able to get the first part this week when ‘House of Gold & Bones, Pt. 1′ arrives in stores, but it will take the second part, which isn’t due until next spring, to complete the house-shaped packaging. While we have to wait to construct the full ‘House of Gold & Bones,’ Stone Sour has posted a trailer to show their fans how it will all fit together. The clip can be seen below. On top of the double disc, fans can look for a four-issue comic book . The comic book series debuts April 17, 2013 through Dark Horse Comics.
