Josh Todd on Buckcherry’s Tour With Kid Rock: ‘It’s a Perfect Combination’

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire / Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Buckcherry are set out to hit the road with Kid Rock for a U.S. arena tour across in support of their upcoming album ‘Confessions,’ due February 19. When we recently spoke with Buckcherry frontman Josh Todd he reminisced about the last time he toured with Kid Rock. “We toured with him back on our first record with Fuel and Kid Rock’s awesome,” Todd told Loudwire. “I remember the first time I met him, it was at the Sapphire Supper Club in Florida this little place and I think he was in an RV at the time – this was before ‘Bawitdaba’ took off.” Todd adds, “He just remained the same guy from then to now and that’s why I really like him. He’s just a cool guy, he’s my type of person and we’re all really looking forward to playing with him. He just does what he wants to do and that’s what Buckcherry’s all about so I think it’s a perfect combination, a rocking tour.” The singer and father also spoke about the one thing he had to have on tour with him. “I got into this thing where my youngest daughter — if I have something of hers, it’s good luck to me.” He continues, “I have this little skull barrette she used to wear and that’s always in my toiletries bag where my Q-Tips are. So every day I have to open it up to use a Q-Tip, I see it and I smile and I think about her and just feel good.” The Buckcherry / Kid Rock tour kicks off Feb. 2 in Kansas City, Mo. Best Kid Rock Song – Readers Poll

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Kid Rock has enjoyed a fruitful career that’s seen him enjoy success not only as a rock act, but also stepping into the worlds of hip-hop, country and pop just as easily. There’s no disagreeing that it’s hard to pin down the musician to just one genre, but some of his best songs have been rocking numbers. In this Loudwire Readers Poll, we’re asking you to determine Kid Rock’s best song. His ‘Devil Without a Cause’ album seems like a good place to start, with ‘I Am the Bullgod’ giving him some of his first radio play. That followed with a string of hits that included ‘Bawitdaba,’ ‘Cowboy’ and the rock ballad, ‘Only God Knows Why.’ After breaking big, the singer issued ‘The History of Rock’ detailing some of his earlier work and ‘American Bad Ass’ proved to be the disc’s breakout hit. Kid Rock’s ‘Cocky’ album led off with the single ‘Forever,’ followed by ‘Lonely Road of Faith’ and the crossover duet with Sheryl Crow on ‘Picture.’ The singer’s self-titled set spawned the hit song ‘Jackson, Mississippi,’ and Rock enjoyed a commercial rebound with the ‘Rock N Roll Jesus’ album, which gave us the hard-hitting ‘So Hott’ and the Lynyrd Skynyrd -influenced ‘All Summer Long,’ as well as ‘Amen.’ Rock went a little more message-oriented for the title track of the ‘Born Free’ album. That disc also spawned the college football theme song, ‘God Bless Saturday.’ And finally, the musician issued his ‘Rebel Soul’ album late last year, with ‘Let’s Ride’ being the first track to enjoy some airplay. So there you have it — 15 of Kid Rock’s most popular to choose from. Tell us which track is Kid Rock’s best song in the Loudwire Readers Poll below. Buckcherry Unleash ‘Gluttony’ Video

AOL Buckcherry have been singing about excess with their new single, ‘Gluttony,’ and now they’re sharing a visual representation of the sin with their latest music video. The band recently shot the clip at a church in North Hollywood, Calif., with actor-turned-director Billy Jayne overseeing the shoot. The video finds Josh Todd and the band leading the congregation toward temptation. Guitarist Keith Nelson says of Jayne’s contribution, “It was really refreshing to see his take on what we’re doing because he totally gets the music, he’s connecting with it, and he’s taking it to a different place than a guy who does videos for a living. We got a guy who actually makes movies and TV shows to put his spin on it and it’s been really positive.” Todd recently told Loudwire about the track, “It’s just about trying to control your behavior. They always say that you have to do everything in moderation and that’s never been my experience. One is okay, two is better, three is fantastic and four is the best. I want to consume everything. I want to go big or go home. I’m either on 11 or I’m asleep.” The vocalist also tells  Noisecreep , who premiered the clip, “Because the record is called ‘ Confessions ,’ we filmed the video in a church. We got Jesus down here — which is killer — and we got a lot of our fans in it, which is amazing. They came out on their own time and have really put a lot of sweat equity, so thank you to them.” In the video itself, the full congregation seem to be giving in to excess, while one member remains to fight temptation, only to have both Todd and Jesus bending his ear throughout the clip. The ‘Confessions’ album is due in stores Feb. 19, but fans may pre-order the disc right here . Buckcherry have tour dates booked with Kid Rock that were scheduled through early March, but a second leg has just been added, with the trek now extended into April. Kid Rock Slams ‘Hater’ Palm Beach Music Critic After Poor Review

Leon Halip, Getty Images Everyone’s a critic, but some are a little more harsh than others. Still, that doesn’t mean an artist has to sit back and take it and Kid Rock had a few notes after receiving a fairly poor review of his Palm Beach show Dec. 30. The review, which ran in the Broward-Palm Beach New Times , began with sub-heading “Better Than: ‘Jock James: Volume 5′ before launching into a particularly harsh review that opened with, “It has been said that a jack-of-all-trades is a master of none. However, while someone like Dave Grohl feeds his children by disproving the aforementioned statement, Kid Rock has managed to spin a career out of what boils down to on-stage vivisections of the term.” While the writer offered up some objectivity, stating that Rock high-energy performance was professional and that his band consisted of top caliber players, he also commented, “Kid Rock’s songs simply are not very good.” He added, “The curious thing is that, despite it being fairly common knowledge that Kid Rock totally sucks, there was a full audience — with a minimum ticket price in the range of $60.” In response, Rock provided his own critique of the poor review. In a posting at his website , he called the critic “the biggest hater, jackass, miserable p—- critic on Earth.” He went on to add, “He is such a miserable p—- it makes me laugh to read how much he or she hates me, but has to admit everyone had a blast! He probably really enjoys Radiohead shows!! Haha. I bet if you ask anyone who was at the show, a good time was had by all!” Rock also added, “Happy New Year to all, and yes, ‘Let’s get s— faced!’ (I know this critic fails to believe that’s what most folks do on New Years!! IDIOT!). Hahaha. He is exactly the type of a–hole me and Sean Penn were making fun of in ‘ Americans .’” [button href=”http://loudwire.com/kid-rock-2013-rebel-soul-u-s-tour-dates-openers-buckcherry-hellbound-glory/” title=”Next: Kid Rock Announces 2013 ‘Rebel Soul’ Tour” align=”center”]

Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, Lenny Kravitz + More Rock Kennedy Center Honors Tribute to Led Zeppelin

Getty Images (3) Foo Fighters , Kid Rock and Lenny Kravitz were among the musicians that rocked Led Zeppelin classics during the Kennedy Center Honors tribute to the legendary rock band, which took place a few weeks ago but aired last night (Dec. 26) on CBS. Only half of the Foo Fighters’ two-song set from the event, which was originally taped on Dec. 1, aired on TV, but at least we got to see the guys jam out to ‘Rock and Roll’ with the Foos’ drummer Taylor Hawkins stepping into the role of lead singer, doing his best  Robert Plant impression. Meanwhile, Grohl paid tribute to his drum hero, the late John Bonham, by pounding the skins during the performance. Kid Rock rocked the stage for a high-energy rendition of ‘Ramble On,’ off 1969?s ‘Led Zeppelin II,’ while Kravitz delivered a strong performance of ‘Whole Lotta Love’ with President Obama seen singing along from the audience. The Zeppelin tribute started with a comedic speech by actor-musician Jack Black and ended with a rendition of ‘Stairway to Heaven’ led by Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart. Kid Rock Picks Up High School Band’s $2,500 Thanksgiving Day Travel Bill

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com In early November, the Wyandotte Marching Chiefs got the call that most marching bands would kill for — they were invited to back up Kid Rock during the halftime performance of the Detroit Lions annual Thanksgiving Day game. But then the financial reality of the situation began to set in, with the school scurrying to land a fleet of buses to transport those taking part and incurring a $2,400 bill in the process. After reading an article that included the school’s transportation bill for the event, Kid Rock decided to take action. According to the Wyandotte Patch , the musician sent a letter to the school thanking them for their participation in the show and included a $2,500 check to offset the expenses. The letter stated: I read the article in the Wyandotte Patch on the extra expenses you incurred getting back and forth to Ford Field to practice for the Thanksgiving Day half time show. I hope this covers your expenses. Thank you … you guys did a fantastic job!!!! Roosevelt High School’s music director, Mark D’Angelo, told the paper he was surprised by Rock’s response. “In the weeks prior to our performance, I was sharing with the students some of the amazing things that I had learned about how Kid Rock … gives back to his community and to Detroit,” said D’Angelo. “The students and I never thought that we would be included in that list until we received this letter today.” He added, “As I read the letter to each of my classes, there was a lot of excitement and amazement that once again, Kid Rock was thinking about us. I hope we get an opportunity someday to have a longer conversation and we can show him just how much all of this has meant to every member of our band community. Kid Rock, you’ve got a lot of new fans in Wyandotte, Michigan!” In addition to Kid Rock’s check, the band received an additional $720 in donations from community members. The extra money will offset band-related expenses in the future.
