Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor Writing Comic Book Series for Album ‘House of Gold & Bones’

Dark Horse Comics As an extension of Stone Sour ‘s double album ‘House of Gold & Bones,’ vocalist Corey Taylor is creating a comic book. A four-issue miniseries will be written by Taylor and published by Dark Horse Comics to accompany the two-part Stone Sour album. Set to drop on Oct. 23, ‘House of Gold & Bones – Part 1,’ Stone Sour’s fourth full-length album is one of the most anticipated releases of 2012. The second part of ‘House of Gold and Bones’ does not have an official release date as of this posting, but we know that Corey Taylor, who also provides vocals for Slipknot , will be appearing at New York’s Comic Con this week (Oct. 11-14), according to Roadrunner Records . Corey Taylor recently spoke about his passion that led to his animated endeavor. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” says Taylor. “I’ve always been very critical of when comics go south and basically pull the fan out of what the potential is. It’s me pretty much putting my money where my mouth is.” He continues, “Especially in (the music) industry, you’re encouraged to not only appear to be as youthful and arrogant as possible, but you’re encouraged to make your own terrible decisions and have this kind of abhorrent behavior. People think that it sells. I figured out a long time ago that that’s so boring and so clichéd. To me, it was about shuffling that off and figuring out who do I want to be? Who do I want to try to be? Who do I want to aspire to be?” Get ready for Stone Sour’s ‘House of Gold & Bones,’ which will drop on Oct. 22. Green Day’s Music To Serve as Soundtrack to Episode of ‘CSI: NY’

Christopher Polk / Carlo Allegri, Getty Images Green Day may be off the road due to Billie Joe Armstrong ‘s rehab stint , but the group is finding plenty of other ways to remain in the spotlight. One of them will happen on Oct. 19, when the group’s music is used to soundtrack an episode of the CBS crime drama ‘CSI: NY.’ According to the band’s website , songs such as ‘Stop When the Red Light Flashes,’ ‘Amy,’ ‘Night Life,’ ‘The Forgotten,’ and ‘Kill the DJ’ will help tell the story of the episode. In the episode itself, Lindsay (Anna Belknap) is injured while trying to stop the attempted murder of a political candidate. CSI: NY executive producer Pam Veasey states, “My ultimate goal was to tell a story without dialogue, and Green Day’s music and lyrics beautifully accompanied the visuals making it a very special episode.” The band stated, “We were stoked when we found out ‘CSI: NY’ wanted to use our music instead of dialogue to narrate the first few acts of the episode. It’s the first time something like this has been done on the series, and we are blown away with what we’ve seen.” ‘CSI: NY’ airs Fridays on CBS at 8PM ET/PT. Bret Michaels Dedicates Music Room at Arizona Hospital That Saved His Life

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Two years after he underwent an emergency procedure there to repair bleeding around his brain — and a year after he returned for heart surgery — Poison frontman Bret Michaels dedicated a new hospitality and music room at St. Joseph’s Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Ariz. Michaels was on hand for the ceremony on Tuesday (Oct. 9), along with Patty White, the hospital’s president and CEO, who told him, “We want to welcome you back this time for a celebration.” After thanking the neurosurgeon who saved his life, Michaels unveiled the Bret Michaels Hospitality and Music Room, “whose sole purpose is to provide comfort, serenity and peace to families that are going through a very trying time in their lives.” The singer was instrumental in the room’s design, right down to the decor — which includes photos and magazine covers of Michaels and his family, televisions playing Michaels concert footage, and Michaels quotes such as, “Raise your hands, rejoice and rock as if there is no tomorrow” and “Respect the past, dream the future, live in the moment.” “I think Bret has really inspired so many people with his recent medical illnesses and his remarkable recovery,” said Joseph Zabramski, the doctor who operated on Michaels’ brain. “And he will continue to inspire, particularly patients and their families who come here to Barrow and use this room to find peace and comfort during their stay with us.” [button href=”http://loudwire.com/bret-michaels-get-your-rock-on-video/” title=”Next: Watch Bret Michaels’ ‘Get Your Rock On’ Video” align=”center”]

Green Day Bow Out of 2012 Voodoo Experience

Spencer Kaufman, Loudwire Green Day were planning to head up the 2012 Voodoo Music + Arts Experience over Halloween weekend, but given singer Billie Joe Armstrong ‘s recent entry into rehab for treatment of substance abuse issues, they’ve now bowed out of the performance. The timing has not been the best in the world for Green Day, as the singer’s meltdown at the iHeart Music Festival in Las Vegas and subsequent rehab announcement came just ahead of the release of the group’s ‘¡Uno!’ album. At the time, the band issued a statement apologizing for the incident at the Las Vegas event, revealing Armstrong’s decision to attend rehab, and regretfully announcing that some of their promotional appearances would be postponed as a result. Drummer Tre Cool issued the band’s statement on their exit from the Voodoo Experience. It read: Canceling shows is something we rarely do. We never want to let our fans down, and we are grateful for all of you being understanding during this time. Meanwhile, Voodoo Music + Arts Experience organizers, Rehage Entertainment, issued their own statement on the matter. It read: We, like everyone, were looking forward to having Green Day back at Voodoo. Their 2004 performance was one of the festival’s greatest. We are obviously disappointed in the news, but realize the health and well being of Billie Joe is the most important thing right now. We wish him and the entire Green Day family the best and offer them our full support. The Voodoo Experience will go on without Green Day. The festival runs Oct. 26-28 at New Orleans’ City Park. Even without Green Day, the lineup is pretty solid. Neil Young & Crazy Horse, the Avett Brothers , Justice, Silversun Pickups , AWOLNATION, Jack White , Skrillex , and Coheed & Cambria are among the top performers on this year’s bill.
