Death Angel’s ‘The Ultra-Violence’ Rocks New Carl’s Jr. Commercial

There’s nothing like a little Death Angel music when you’re trying to set a sinister mood and that’s exactly what the creators behind the latest Carl’s Jr. advertisement were looking for in promoting their Jalapeno Turkey Burger. The hard-riffing Death Angel’s song ‘The Ultra-Violence’ provides the soundtrack to the 30-second spot, which centers on a man taking a solid chomp on the restaurant chain’s latest sandwich. The star of the spot eyes the burger over slowly before defiantly going in for the first bite as a cymbal crash coincides with the sound of him crunching through the sandwich. He pulls out one of the jalapenos, staring it down before cockily flicking it in his mouth only to have the heat from the jalapeno better him in the end. As he sweats upon his brow and tries to cool his tongue, a shot of the sandwich appears with the text reading, “Lean, But Mean.” The spot ends with the announcer teasing the sandwich, “The Jalapeno Turkey Burger, with pepper jack cheese and spicy Santa Fe sauce … new at Carl’s Jr,” over some major guitar riffage from the band. ‘The Ultra-Violence’ song itself clocks in as a 10-minute-plus instrumental. It’s featured on the band’s 1987 debut, also titled ‘The Ultra-Violence.’ Death Angel spent much of 2012 on tour with Anthrax and Testament and expect to release their highly anticipated ‘A Thrashumentary’ DVD early this year. The group is also eyeing some spring recording time to start work on their next album. Saxophonist Kenny G’s Son Max Gorelick Shreds on Guitar in YouTube Clip

YouTube / Ethan Miller, Getty Images This may seem like an odd story for us to be reporting, but believe us when we say it … Kenny G’s son absolutely shreds on guitar. Yes, that Kenny G. Don’t believe us? We’ve got the proof right here. Max Gorelick is the son of the curly haired smooth jazz saxophonist, who has somehow sold over 75 million albums worldwide and has been the butt of an endless amount of jokes in his time. Regardless, musical prowess definitely runs in the family, as demonstrated by Gorelick’s shredding for a YouTube-based Mayones / Seymour Duncan guitar solo contest . Polish guitar company Mayones and Seymour Duncan pickups are hosting the contest, where the player of the sickest solo will win a brand new Mayones Reguis 7 Custom guitar. The worldwide competition will also award the five finalists with a set of Seymour Duncan pickups. Even  Megadeth  gave Gorelick their stamp of approval via Facebook , by posting, “His dad may live in your elevator, but Kenny G’s kid shreds!” Not a bad endorsement at all, especially when Megadeth share the video with their 5 million Facebook fans. Check out Max Gorelick’s guitar work for yourself in the video below. Kenny G’s Son Max Gorelick Shreds!

It’s going to be awesome.” Hale concludes, “It’s just going to be a lot of fun I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next. We just continue to do what we love with the people we love.” There’s still time to vote for Lzzy Hale and Halestorm in several categories in the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards, including Rock Goddess of the Year, Rock Song of the Year and more. High on Fire Join Anthrax, Exodus + More on 2013 Metal Alliance Tour Lineup

Metal Alliance Already boasting a stellar lineup, the 2013 Metal Alliance Tour has just gotten crunchier. Off the heels of releasing their latest full-length masterpiece, ‘De Vermis Mysteriis,’ Californian sludge masters High on Fire have hopped on board the third installment of the trek. This year’s tour is shaping up to be absolutely insane. The previously announced bill already consisted of thrash masters  Anthrax , Exodus and Municipal Waste , with a bit of heavy metal peppered in thanks to Holy Grail. Now, High on Fire will round off the lineup a bit more while melting the walls of each venue they hit with their brand of time-traveling, hallucinogenic sludge. Last year, High on Fire were scheduled to invade the 2012 Mayhem Festival but backed out of the trek when frontman Matt Pike chose to  enter rehab for alcohol issues. After completing treatment and taking a break from the road, High on Fire embarked on a solid club tour with Goatwhore , Primate and Lo-Pan at the tail-end of 2012, which we were lucky enough to check out on its Brooklyn, N.Y, stop . As previously reported, the 2013 Metal Alliance Tour will feature Anthrax performing their classic 1987 album ‘Among the Living’ album in full. Be sure to check out this tour, as it is definitely shaping up to be one of this year’s must-see events. Check out the entire list of tour dates here . Ozzy Osbourne Rings in New Year With Granddaughter Pearl

Jack Osbourne: Official Instagram Get ready to say, “Awwwww.” Above is a pic of legendary Black Sabbath vocalist Ozzy Osbourne holding his newest granddaughter Pearl as the two celebrate the New Year together. Ozzy became a grandfather for the fifth time last year, when son Jack and now-wife Lisa Stelly welcomed the baby girl into the world. Jack Osbourne posted this picture of Ozzy and Pearl on his Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages last night (Jan. 1). This is the second picture of Ozzy and Pearl together that we’ve seen, as an earlier pic of the duo on the Sabbath singer’s private jet was revealed in November (see below). Hello! magazine was the first publication to introduce Pearl to the public shortly after she was born on April 24, 2012. “People say when you have a kid, it’s like instant love, but unless you’ve experienced it, it’s impossible to comprehend,” Jack Osbourne told Hello! “The moment I saw her, I felt more love than I’d ever felt for anything. It was the weirdest, most overwhelming thing.” Not only are we jealous of Pearl for having the coolest grandpa ever, but it’s likely that the child has already heard some of the new Sabbath album. Unfortunately for us, Pearl probably can’t be convinced to mail us a digital copy … yet. Dave Mustaine Finds Inspiration in Jesus and Clint Eastwood for Upcoming Megadeth Album

Twitter: @DaveMustaine Megadeth mastermind  Dave Mustaine has been keeping fans updated on the status of their new album by making the most of social media – posting Twitter updates and Facebook postings on all the latest happenings. He most recently posted news yesterday that three new tracks were almost complete. Mustaine followed up on that news with more detail, posting the photo seen here on Twitter citing some inspiration for his vocal chops, saying, “Cutting vocals today! Some inspiration! Jesus and Clint Eastwood!” The picture, seemingly depicting a photo of Clint Eastwood as his character Josey Wales from the 1976 Western flick ‘The Outlaw Josey Wales,’ sits alongside a crucifix. Next to the in-studio inspiration lies what could perhaps be the lyrics to one of the new Megadeth songs, titled ‘Nothing To Remember.’ The new Megadeth disc is being produced by Johnny K. Although no drop date has been officially announced, the disc is slated to come out sometime in 2013. It’s not all work for Mustaine over the holidays though, he also posted that he went to see the new film ‘Les Miserables’ starring Hugh Jackman and seemed to enjoy it, expressing, “Saw Les Miserables last night. If Hugh Jackman doesn’t get nominated for an Oscar I will be surprised. He was superb!” Hopefully all this new inspiration will convince Mustaine to keep up the great first-person coverage of all the Megadeth magic going down in the studio while fans wait patiently to hear the new music.
