Halestorm’s Arejay Hale Reacts to Grammy Win + Hater Backlash

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Halestorm have joined the ranks of Iron Maiden , Judas Priest , Foo Fighters , Metallica , Slayer , Rage Against the Machine and Slipknot among others in the metal and hard rock genres who can call themselves Grammy winners . But the reality of the situation is still setting in for drummer Arejay Hale. He tells Noisecreep , “We still don’t believe it. I’m still waiting for someone to tell us that we were punked. I know a lot of people get up there and say they’re shocked and didn’t expect to win, but I’m here to tell you, we were shocked and in no way did we expect to win! When you look at who we were up against, I know it’s hard to make sense of, and I think we may have been as surprised as everyone else.” The drummer adds, “Honestly, I thought Lamb of God would’ve won. What’s interesting is that they influenced the song we won for. We love Lamb of God, in fact all the other nominees are bands we grew up looking up to. There were such legendary artists in that category and maybe we’re just the ones that got picked to represent the new guard, but that’s not our call.” There have been some who’ve criticized the Grammys for rewarding the relative newcomers against their more veteran competition, but Hale has no problems with the haters questioning their victory. He explains, “I learned a long time ago that you have to embrace the hater, because it means that the band is getting bigger. Like Nickelback , I love them and I see people hate on them and all it says to me is that they have become massively huge, and what’s wrong with that? So if people have to take the time to say something hateful or mean for whatever reason, it means the band is growing more and more and that more fans are finding out about us and that’s a valuable thing.” Hale says after 16 years of playing music with his sister Lzzy , the Grammy serves as some sort of vindication that they made the right choice pursuing music as a career. Mark Tremonti and His Band Visit U.S. Troops Stationed in Germany

American Forces Network – Photo Courtesy of Russell Toof Over the years as a member of Creed and Alter Bridge , guitarist Mark Tremonti has taken the opportunity to play for and meet members of the military, and now that he’s out on the road with his own self-titled band, that tradition continues. Tremonti and his bandmates Wolfgang Van Halen, Eric Friedman and Garrett Whitlock made a detour to the Warrior Zone in Heidelberg, Germany on Feb. 5, where they took the time to sign some autographs, talk to members of the military and take a few photos. Tremonti himself also spoke with American Forces Network’s Russell Toof about his experiences visiting the military. In a video interview (posted below), the Tremonti frontman says there was never any hesitation once a visit was requested. “Who’s going to say no to that,” asks the guitarist-singer. “We definitely wanted to come out here to see everybody.” He added, “Anytime you can make someone happy that’s away from home and bring any kind of joy to any rock and roll fans that are out here, away from their home, away from their country, it’s great to help out in any way we can.” Tremonti says he’s made it a point over the years to invite military personnel to their shows to meet and visit with them. He concluded, “I know they’re doing everything they can for us. I know they’re away from their families and friends, so it’s gotta be tough. So we respect the hell out of ‘em.” Watch Mark Tremonti’s Interview With American Forces Network [button href=”http://loudwire.com/tremonti-wish-you-well-video/” title=”Next: Watch Tremonti’s ‘Wish You Well’ Video” align=”center”]

Cradle of Filth Forced to Cancel 2013 North American Tour Dates

Peaceville Bad news for Cradle of Filth fans in North America … the British extreme metal band have been forced to cancel their upcoming tour with the Faceless , Decapitated and the Agonist . According to an official statement from Cradle of Filth, the cancellation is due to immigration issues that are “beyond the band’s control.” Back in October 2012, we spoke with Cradle of Filth singer Dani Filth , who speculated that a North American tour with the Faceless, Decapitated and the Agonist would likely happen in 2013. Having called the tour package a “really strong lineup,” we’re sure that Dani, Cradle of Filth and the three other acts on the bill aren’t feeling too happy about the forced cancellation, especially due to it being cancelled on somewhat of a technicality. Cradle of Filth posted on their official Facebook page about the tour’s cancellation: Cradle Of Filth are really sorry to tell all of their fans that their US tour ’28 Days Closer to Hell’ is going to have to be cancelled, due to US immigration issues beyond the band’s control. They have been desperately trying to solve these problems, but it has become evident they are not going to be resolved in time for the band to embark on a tour that starts next week. The band sincerely apologize to all their fans and to the other acts on the tour and want to assure people they have made every effort possible to go ahead with the tour. Hopefully Cradle of Filth will be able to return to North American soil sometime soon, and when it happens, we’ll be sure to let you know. The band released its latest album, ‘ The Manticore and Other Horrors ,’ on Halloween 2012. Alice in Chains Unveil Title of New Album

Photo by Dave Ma Alice in Chains had a little fun yesterday (Feb. 13), asking fans to unscramble a collection of letters that once deciphered would reveal their album title, and the fans could then post their suggested titles to Instagram. But how many people actually came up with ‘The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here’? That is the title of the band’s new album, which is on target for a May release, as revealed in a message on the group’s website and social networking sites. The timing is perfect for Alice in Chains, who have a wealth of spring tour dates and festival appearances that should build the buzz by the time the disc drops. Alice in Chains announced a spring trek that runs April 25 – May 24 earlier this year. They’ll also be plenty busy headlining the Rocklahoma , Carolina Rebellion , Welcome to Rockville and Rock on the Range festivals, as well. The band has also been confirmed internationally for the Download Festival in England on June 15 and the Rock in Rio festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sept. 19. The band is already off to a hot start with ‘The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here’ album, with the lead single ‘ Hollow ‘ inching closer to the top of the charts. The group recorded the disc in Los Angeles with producer Nick Raskulinecz. HIM Announce April Release Date for New Album ‘Tears on Tape’

Photo Credit: Joonas Brandt Finnish love metal phenoms HIM  have unveiled details on their upcoming studio release. The band’s eighth record, ‘Tears on Tape,’ is set to be released on April 30 in the U.S., while U.K. and Ireland audiences will have access to the album on April 29. Having formed in 1991 and broken into the consciousness of U.S. audiences in the early 2000s, HIM gained a cult following thanks to songs such as ‘Buried Alive By Love,’ ‘Right Here in My Arms’ and ‘Wings of a Butterfly,’ along with a huge push by Jackass star Bam Margera. With HIM delivering sonic love metal delights for 20 years, the buzz for their 2013 full-length is beginning to resonate throughout rock and metal communities. ‘Tears on Tape’ was recorded in Finland with longtime HIM collaborator Hiili Hiilesmaa manning the helm as the band’s producer. Having worked on HIM releases such as ‘Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666,’ ‘Love Metal’ and ‘Venus Doom,’ Hiilesmaa also boasts studio work with the 69 Eyes , Apocalyptica and many others. “‘Tears on Tape’ is going to be really organic,” said  vocalist Ville Valo in a recent interview, “straight-in-your-face, super melancholy bulls— [Laughs]. It’s going to be something nobody’s heard before. I’m really happy about it. It sounds great. Remember the soundtrack for ‘Twin Peaks’ that Angelo Badalamenti did? It’s got that similar forlorn, melancholy quality but mixed up with  Motörhead . That’s where we’re at! We’re really happy. It’s got that dreamlike quality. It’s like Roy Orbison meeting  Metallica .” The new HIM album will be the act’s first release on the band’s new U.S. label, Razor & Tie Records. “We´re infernally glad to be dressed sharply enough for our dearest comrades in the US (for once),” says Valo. “R&T A-Go-Go!!!” Stay tuned for future news on HIM’s ‘Tears on Tape,’ along with the band’s upcoming 2013 tour dates, which are reportedly being planned as of this posting.
