Metallica Officially Replace Green Day as 2012 ‘Voodoo Music + Arts Experience’ Headliners

Metallica.com After pop-punk legends Green Day chose to withdraw as headliners of the 2012 ‘Voodoo Music + Arts Experience’ due to frontman Billie Joe Armstrong entering rehab for substance abuse, the band’s replacement has just been named. The replacement headliners just happen to be the most commercially successful metal band in history, Metallica . Now that Green Day have  pulled out of the festival, this will mark Metallica’s first New Orleans performance since 2008, and Metallica now join Neil Young, Jack White , Die Antwoord, Skrillex and many more artists at the ‘Voodoo’ festival. Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming festival date. “We are excited to be part of our first ever Voodoo Music + Arts Experience,” says Ulrich. “Our good friends and fellow Bay Area residents Green Day had to unfortunately cancel their plans to be there, so we are more than happy to fill in for them in our own unique way. We’re hoping we can fill those very large shoes and do them proud.” Founder and producer of ‘Voodoo,’ Stephen Rehage also shared his excitement, along with relief in a new press statement. “After a hectic few days – and sleepless nights – having Metallica, one of the world’s greatest bands agree to perform at Voodoo in the place of Green Day, only two weeks before the festival, feels pretty surreal at the moment – like being part of rock & roll history in the making… something you will tell your grandkids about years from now,” says Rehage. “We are incredibly grateful to Metallica and their management team for supporting us in this unprecedented manner. I am sure Metallica’s performance at Voodoo will be remembered for many years to come.” The 2012 ‘Voodoo Music + Arts Experience’ will mark the 14th anniversary of the outing, and will be held on Oct. 26-28, with Metallica playing the Oct. 27 date. Ozzy Osbourne’s Son Jack Osbourne Marries Lisa Stelly in Hawaii

Frazer Harrison, Getty Images A few days after he took to Twitter to laugh off rumors of his impending nuptials, Ozzy Osbourne ‘s son Jack made them come true by walking down the aisle with his new bride, actress and model Lisa Stelly. The UK tabloid Hello! was on hand to witness the ceremony, which took place in Hawaii on Sunday (Oct. 7) — just two days before Jack’s mom Sharon celebrates her 60th birthday  (Oct. 9), and a little more than 30 years after she and Jack’s dad Ozzy tied the knot in Maui. According to Hello!, the guest list was appropriately exclusive with fewer than 50 attendees on hand — but it was, of course, an Osbourne family event, with Jack’s sister Kelly serving as one of the bridesmaids and both of the famous elder Osbournes on hand to celebrate his wedded bliss. The wedding caps a tumultuous year for Jack, who celebrated the birth of his and Stelly’s first child in April 24, then dealt with his multiple sclerosis diagnosis just a few weeks later. “Even when I was at the hospital, we were discussing the plans,” Stelly was quoted as saying in an earlier report. “It’s going to be great. After we had the baby we decided we didn’t want to waste any more time.” [button href=”http://loudwire.com/ozzy-osbourne-celebrate-sharon-60th-birthday-the-talk/” title=”Next: Ozzy to Celebrate Sharon’s 60th Birthday on ‘The Talk'” align=”center”]

Trent Reznor’s How to Destroy Angels Set to Release New EP

Facebook: How To Destroy Angels Trent Reznor ’s multi-faceted creative collective known as How to Destroy Angels have announced their plans to release their latest disc titled ‘An Omen EP,’ due Nov. 13 digitally and on 12″ vinyl. The six-song EP will be released via Columbia Records. How to Destroy Angels is made up of Reznor, his wife Mariqueen Maandig, Atticus Ross, who shares the Academy Award with Reznor for their score of ‘The Social Network,’ and visual artist Rob Sheridan, who previously worked as creative director for Nine Inch Nails . So judging by all accounts this lineup serves as much more than just a band. Reznor posted an open letter on his Facebook page touching on all the details and confirming that their upcoming plans include making some new videos and performing live – something that Reznor had showed some apprehension about in the past while still remaining excited about the next chapter in his career. He also comments on his decision to return to a major label with the new project and how it compares to an independent release. Read Reznor’s letter below: Sorry for the radio silence lately… I’ve been busy! There’s a number of things to be revealed over the coming months. Some you may expect, others you may not. Patience, my friends. Today’s news is about my band How to Destroy Angels. I’m happy to announce we’ve formally partnered with Columbia Records for our next series of releases. The first of these will be available in November and it’s called ‘An Omen EP.’ As you may have guessed, it’s an EP. It contains six songs, some of which are from our full-length LP which is coming early next year. We are making some videos, we are going to be performing live, and that’s all the details I have for now on those matters. Regarding our decision to sign with Columbia, we’ve really spent a long time thinking about things and it makes sense for a lot of reasons, including a chance to work with our old friend Mark Williams. There’s a much more granular and rambling answer I could give (and likely will in an interview someplace) but it really comes down to us experimenting and trying new things to see what best serves our needs. Complete independent releasing has its great points but also comes with shortcomings. We are all very excited about you checking out the new stuff. Wish I could tell you more, but you know how this works … it would take all the fun out of it! In addition to the EP, the band is planning a full-length release with a target release date of spring 2013. For all the latest on How to Destroy Angels follow them on Twitter and Facebook .
