Green Day being down a rehabbing member hasn’t kept them from releasing new music and even creating music videos. Rather than the band starring in the clip for their latest single, ‘Stray Heart,’ they’ve served up a concept video in which the stars are a guy with a gaping hole and his extremely mobile heart. The clip itself features a man hoping to win over his latest love, but finding out that his womanizing ways are coming back to haunt him courtesy of his “stray heart,” that has him tracking down the vital organ about town. ‘Stray Heart’ is the first ‘ ¡Dos! ‘ single. With the album arriving next week, the band issued a full stream of the disc for fans to check out earlier this week. However, as previously reported, Green Day are currently unable to get out and tour in support of their discs as singer Billie Joe Armstrong continues his substance abuse recovery in rehab. The group recently canceled the remainder of their 2012 tour schedule and postponed the first two months of touring for 2013 . They also pushed forward the ‘¡Tre!’ album to a Dec. 11 release as a way of making up for the fact that they’re not on the road. Karl Walther, Getty Images As one of the most anticipated video games in history, ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ is set to make an enormous impact in the world of gaming on Nov. 13. Along with what promises to be a unique gaming experience, the musical score for ‘Black Ops II’ was created by Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor . The first ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ game had broken the record of the largest ever entertainment launch in history within any form of entertainment, breaking the record 24 hours after its release and bringing in a staggering $650 million within five days of its release. That record has now been surpassed by ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.’ With a true artistic desire to be a part of yet another groundbreaking moment in the entertainment world, Reznor jumped at the chance to create the score for ‘Black Ops II.’ “I look at video games as a true art form,” begins Reznor. “The chance to be involved in something like this is exciting to me. I feel its every bit as viable as film work or music or anything else. The games have gotten more intense and more realistic and more engrossing and deeper. Video game culture has expanded into the largest form of entertainment.” “I was watching the Oscars last year and I see Trent Reznor win the Academy Award,” says ‘Black Ops II’ director Dave Anthony. “A year later, I see him walking around Treyarch [game developers], and I think to myself, ‘Am I dreaming? Trent Reznor is creating the score for our video game.’” The entire 40+ song soundtrack will be given its own individual release on Nov. 13. Reznor’s soundtrack, which also features an original score by Jack Wall, will also come with the physical edition of the game. Watch Trent Reznor + Other Game Developers Discuss ‘Black Ops II’
Rick Diamond, Getty Images 3 Doors Down have enjoyed a lot of great times on the road, and as they approach the release of their upcoming ‘ Greatest Hits ‘ album, the band is reflecting on their past in a series of video vignettes. Loudwire is proud to bring you the vignette with the band members reflecting on the ‘Duck and Run’ video that shows their life on the road perhaps better than any clip they’ve released. Singer Brad Arnold , guitarist Chris Henderson, and bassist Todd Harrell gathered to offer the insights on the clip, which Harrell says was probably one of his favorites videos they ever shot. Henderson and Arnold joke around as well about getting used to having a camera crew around at all times and how normal it became after a while. The vignette can be seen below. ‘Duck and Run,’ which just continued the breakout success of the band’s debut disc ‘The Better Life,’ is one of many favorites on the ‘Greatest Hits’ disc. The compilation, due Nov. 19, also features standouts like ‘When I’m Gone,’ ‘Kryptonite,’ ‘It’s Not My Time,’ and ‘Here Without You,’ along with the new single ‘ One Light .’ Fans can currently pre-order the album here . 3 Doors Down are getting ready to hit the road, and will kick off a co-headlining U.S. tour with Daughtry on Nov. 17 at their ninth annual ‘ The Better Life ‘ foundation benefit in Tunica, Miss. SoundgardenWorld.com Soundgarden are gearing up for the release of their comeback album ‘King Animal’ on Nov. 13. The band recently shared the first single ‘Been Away Too Long,’ and is now following it up with the debut of another new tune, ‘Non-State Actor.’ Sonically harkening back to the Soundgarden sound of old without getting too caught up in nostalgia, ‘Non-State Actor’ chimes in like an old friend that’s been away for, say, oh, 16 years. Soundgarden fans will feel right at home with ‘Non-State Actor,’ while the song invites in new listeners as well to find out what the band is all about. However, as frontman Chris Cornell pointed out in a recent interview with Yahoo Music , you can’t judge the tone of the album by just two songs. “There’s always a broad spectrum of what’s going on musically on any Soundgarden album,” Cornell explained. “They usually tend to be long, there’s a lot of different feels, you’re never going to get the feel of the album from listening to one or two or even three songs.” He also talked about the band’s constant evolution. “I feel like we’re all very conscious about what we feel is the musical identity of the band,” said Cornell. “That’s always been very important to us but we also have all felt pretty comfortable with each other and pushing the boundaries of what we all think that is too.” Listen to ‘Non-State’ Actor below for a taste of what the band has in store with ‘King Animal.’ Watch the Video For the New Soundgarden Song ‘Non-State Actor’ [button href=”http://music.yahoo.com/blogs/live/soundgarden-song-check-non-state-actor-exclusive-interview-155804275.html” title=” Soundgarden’s ‘King Animal’ Best Buy Edition Bolstered With Bonus Tracks” align=”center”]
Mary Oullette, SheWillShootYou.com / Kevin Winter, Getty Images Mark Tremonti raised a few eyebrows in the Van Halen camp when he recently commented that he’d like to make Wolfgang Van Halen ‘s addition to his self-titled band a permanent thing. But the guitarist says that VH fans shouldn’t worry about this signaling Wolfgang’s exit, as he plans to work around the Van Halen commitments. Tremonti tells Metal Express Radio (excerpted by Van Halen News Desk ), “We’re talking about doing this arrangement for good. Van Halen will always be his priority, whenever they are touring. When he’s not touring, he’ll be with us. He will write and play on the records and, if he is on tour with Van Halen, we will find somebody that he is comfortable with filling his shoes.” Tremonti recently revealed that the younger Van Halen was part of their initial thought process for their current release, but he was otherwise occupied at the time when they started recording their record. With Van Halen off the road and with Tremonti’s Creed and Alter Bridge bassist Brian Marshall bowing out just prior to their tour, Wolfgang became a last-minute addition to the band’s lineup. The group just finished their European tour , with no further dates on the itinerary at present. Meanwhile, Van Halen remain off the road as well while guitarist Eddie Van Halen recovers from the surgery he had to deal with diverticulitis earlier this year. YouTube Nirvana ’s memorable music video for ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ served as the battle cry for a whole new revolution for rock music, and now, a little piece of musical history from the clip is up for grabs. However, you better have deep pockets if you’re hoping to score the rock ‘n’ roll remnant. Most fans will recall the end of the iconic video when Kurt Cobain picks up a guitar and beats the heck out of it, smashing it to rubble. Now, more than two decades later, what’s left of the iconic bass smash is being auctioned off for big bucks. Christie’s of London has it going on the block Nov. 29 and they expect it to sell in the 25-40 thousand dollar range. The history of the bass has come to light as well, with ArtDaily reporting that bassist Krist Novoselic bought the 1960s Japanese Zen-On sunburst finish bass guitar at a pawn shop, while looking for something cheap that he knew would eventually be destroyed in the video shoot. According to musical lore, the remnants of the bass went home with a teenager who signed up to be an extra in the video. That’s not a bad parting gift. The bass joins other musical memorabilia for sale to the highest bidder including a high school yearbook signed by one Bob Dylan when he was a mere 17 years old. Spencer Kaufman, Loudwire While Green Day dropped the unfortunate bomb earlier this week that they have to cancel all upcoming tour dates in 2012 and postpone most of their upcoming tour dates in January and February to allow their lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong to focus on his recovery from substance abuse, the band also offered up some good news, in the form of a new video for the song ‘The Forgotten.’ Although the band is one-third of the way through their release of a series of three new discs ‘¡Uno!,’ ‘¡Dos!,’ and ‘¡Tre!’ in the coming months, ‘The Forgotten’ can be found on the upcoming soundtrack for ‘ The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 .’ The soundtrack is due out on Nov. 13, a few days prior to the movie hitting the big screen. Kicking off on piano, musically ‘The Forgotten’ slow things down a little for the trio with the vampire meets pop-punk video showing off the softer side of Green Day. The clip, sure to appeal to both Green Day and ‘Twilight’ fans offers up a montage of alternating clips from the upcoming movie and bits of footage of Green Day in the studio and on the stage. Fans are already weighing in with feedback about the new song with comments like, “I love this, it’s so beautiful,” and “Amazing song!” Check it out below for yourself.
