According to the latest news reports , at least 27 people were killed, including 18 children. Sandy Hook Elementary School was quickly evacuated after the lone gunman opened fire. The 24-year-old shooter killed himself after the massacre. The devastating incident is being called the deadliest school shooting since the Virginia Tech massacre in 2007.
