Soundgarden Announce 2013 North American Tour, Unveil ‘Been Away Too Long’ Video

Yesterday, Loudwire delivered an exclusive sneak peek at the new video from Soundgarden for their single ‘Been Away Too Long,’ and today the full video has made its formal premiere (watch above). While the lyrics for ‘Been Away Too Long’ sing out a sentiment that calls to mind Soundgarden’s extended absence, the video travels down a different path. It kicks off with a woman shedding a strait jacket and walking through an abandoned old building. As the building seems to come to life around her the video culminates when she meets the piercing glares of two german shepherds who have her in their sights. Check it out above in its entirety to see what happens next and draw your own conclusions. In addition to the new video, the band is building up the excitement for the release of their new disc ‘King Animal’ on Nov. 13 by announcing a 2013 North American tour. The 20-show run kicks off in late January in Washington, D.C., and takes the band across the U.S. and into Canada before wrapping up on Feb. 13 in Los Angeles, Calif., for two shows at The Wiltern. Chris Cornell to Perform Hurricane Sandy Benefit Concert in New York City

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Hurricane Sandy has taken monstrous toll on those affected by the massive storm. Much of the U.S. East Coast was hit by Sandy, with perhaps New York and New Jersey gaining the most media attention following the storm’s destruction. An inspirational amount of charity work has been done to help those in need, with Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell being the latest to step up and help. The singer-guitarist has announced plans to play a benefit concert on Monday, Nov. 12, in New York City to raise money for the victims of the disastrous hurricane. Hurricane Sandy destroyed homes, left families without power for well over a week, flooded subway tunnels, completely halted the delivery of gasoline, but most importantly, left dozens of people dead. Chris Cornell will be in New York City with Soundgarden on Nov. 12 to perform on the ‘ Live on Letterman ‘ concert webcast series, but to make the very most out of his visit, Cornell will venture from the ‘Letterman’ stage straight to Bowery Ballroom for the benefit show. All the proceeds from Chris Cornell’s solo benefit will be put towards The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, which directly helps those hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy. Soundgarden will also be performing the next night (Nov. 13) at Irving Plaza in New York City to celebrate that day’s release of ‘King Animal.’ The album is Soundgarden’s first full-length studio disc since the 1996 release ‘Down on the Upside.’ For tickets to Chris Cornell’s solo Hurricane Sandy benefit show, click here . Manager Explains Why Kid Rock Finally Ended iTunes Boycott

Rick Diamond / Getty Images It’s interesting, but Kid Rock , one of the few remaining mavericks not to bow to the growing behemoth of downloading that is iTunes, has finally given in for the release of his upcoming album, ‘ Rebel Soul .’ So what changed the rocker’s mind? His manager suggests that these are different times and different rules apply in the current musical climate. Lee Trink, who oversees Rock’s career, tells Rolling Stone , “Times are different than they were on the last release. There are fewer record stores available, and there are fans who don’t necessarily want to get in the car and drive to the store. They’ve been accustomed to buying it digitally. He’s proven the point that he was able to have an incredibly successful record without iTunes, [but] that doesn’t mean you can’t reassess the landscape and take a look at people’s buying behaviors.” Rock has adamantly resisted adapting for iTunes over the years, maintaining the artistic ideal of selling a record as a whole piece of work rather than opting for the single track approach of iTunes. With the musician’s decision to finally allow his music to be sold via the digital download site, only big name acts like AC/DC , Tool , and Garth Brooks remain as holdouts. “Now is the right time,” says Trink of Rock’s decision. “Digital will only be a greater and greater proportion in the way recorded music is purchased. At a certain point, there will be a very tiny, tiny proportion of physical goods. You’re going to have to make that decision.” ‘Rebel Soul’ arrives in stores and online Nov. 19 and is currently available for pre-order on iTunes here . The lead single, ‘ Let’s Ride ,’ is already available on the iTunes platform. Short Film ‘Wounded Warriors’ Featuring Korn’s Jonathan Davis Debuting at Festival

Suspended Motion Productions Korn  singer  Jonathan Davis  is featured in a short film titled ‘Wounded Warriors,’ which makes its debut Saturday, Nov. 10, at the GI Film Festival in Hollywood, Calif. The film (watch the trailer below) documents Davis traveling to Ramstein Air Base in Germany earlier this year to visit armed forces members stationed there along with those in transit from Afghanistan and Iraq. Davis narrates his experiences, which include a tour of a C130J Hercules Aircraft from Airmen of the 37th Airlift Squadron and an explosives demonstration from the 886th Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight. Davis also visits Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) and meets with soldiers and a U.S. Embassy representative injured in Iraq and Afghanistan to thank them for their sacrifice and service. Sébastien Paquet directs the film. He has been Korn’s personal photographer and director for the past seven years and has directed numerous music videos and documentaries for Korn and other artists. Buckcherry Put Out Open Casting Call for New Music Video

Jason Kempin, Getty Images Buckcherry are definitely moving forward in getting their ‘Confessions’ album to the fans. The latest step they’ve taken is setting a date to shoot a video for one of the songs off the disc, and you could be part of the clip if you fit the prerequisites for the casting call . The band has put out the word that they’ll be shooting a video for an unspecified track in North Hollywood, Calif., on Tuesday (Nov. 13) and they need people in the Los Angeles area to take part. The group has asked for males and females between the ages of 18-35 that have the looks of skaters, punks and rock ‘n’ rollers. They ask that those taking part be high-energy individuals and that they bring two to three changes of clothing as options. As for the clothing, it’s important that there be no labels on what you’re wearing, as articles with sports teams, band names and highly visible brands may result in the footage not being used due to copyright issues. Shooting starts at 9AM on Nov. 13 at the First Christian Church at 4390 Colfax Avenue in North Hollywood. Any questions about the shoot can be directed to jaynecasting@gmail.com. The group recently revealed that ‘Confessions’ is now expected in early 2013 . The band has taken a little longer on the disc, as it’s a more focused effort that could loosely be called a concept record. Singer Josh Todd penned a lot of the songs about his youth and transformation in adulthood, and there’s reportedly a film that will correspond with the album release in the works.
