Linkin Park Become First Rock Band to Surpass One Billion YouTube Views

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Congrats are in order for Linkin Park , whose fans just helped the group become the first rock band to surpass one billion YouTube views. At present, there are only three other acts to have reached the milestone, each of them pop stars. Justin Bieber leads the way with 2.8 billion YouTube views, followed by Rihanna and Lady Gaga . The fact that Linkin Park have reached the goal is not only a credit to their music, but also to the video work they’ve done over the years, most of which came courtesy of the band’s DJ, Joseph Hahn. The musician began to explore the visual side of his career by co-directing the videos for ‘Papercut’ and ‘In the End’ with acclaimed director Nathan “Karma” Cox. From there, he assumed much of the band’s video-making responsibilities, overseeing the shoots for ‘Somewhere I Belong,’ ‘Numb,’ ‘What I’ve Done,’ ‘Bleed It Out,’ ‘New Divide,’ ‘Waiting for the End,’ and ‘Burn It Down’ among others. It may be a while before another rock band reaches the billion mark, as Gigwise reports that the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Green Day are next in line with 327 million and 245 million respectively. You can add to Linkin Park’s YouTube total by checking out their latest Honda Civic Tour video posting. In it, the band welcomes a new guitarist – none other than Incubus ‘ Mike Einziger. As a precaution, you see the members warning Einziger about their pyro as the song he’s guesting on has fire emerging from the stage at a very specific point. Watch the video below. Trent Reznor’s How to Destroy Angels Set to Release New EP

Facebook: How To Destroy Angels Trent Reznor ’s multi-faceted creative collective known as How to Destroy Angels have announced their plans to release their latest disc titled ‘An Omen EP,’ due Nov. 13 digitally and on 12″ vinyl. The six-song EP will be released via Columbia Records. How to Destroy Angels is made up of Reznor, his wife Mariqueen Maandig, Atticus Ross, who shares the Academy Award with Reznor for their score of ‘The Social Network,’ and visual artist Rob Sheridan, who previously worked as creative director for Nine Inch Nails . So judging by all accounts this lineup serves as much more than just a band. Reznor posted an open letter on his Facebook page touching on all the details and confirming that their upcoming plans include making some new videos and performing live – something that Reznor had showed some apprehension about in the past while still remaining excited about the next chapter in his career. He also comments on his decision to return to a major label with the new project and how it compares to an independent release. Read Reznor’s letter below: Sorry for the radio silence lately… I’ve been busy! There’s a number of things to be revealed over the coming months. Some you may expect, others you may not. Patience, my friends. Today’s news is about my band How to Destroy Angels. I’m happy to announce we’ve formally partnered with Columbia Records for our next series of releases. The first of these will be available in November and it’s called ‘An Omen EP.’ As you may have guessed, it’s an EP. It contains six songs, some of which are from our full-length LP which is coming early next year. We are making some videos, we are going to be performing live, and that’s all the details I have for now on those matters. Regarding our decision to sign with Columbia, we’ve really spent a long time thinking about things and it makes sense for a lot of reasons, including a chance to work with our old friend Mark Williams. There’s a much more granular and rambling answer I could give (and likely will in an interview someplace) but it really comes down to us experimenting and trying new things to see what best serves our needs. Complete independent releasing has its great points but also comes with shortcomings. We are all very excited about you checking out the new stuff. Wish I could tell you more, but you know how this works … it would take all the fun out of it! In addition to the EP, the band is planning a full-length release with a target release date of spring 2013. For all the latest on How to Destroy Angels follow them on Twitter and Facebook . Slipknot’s Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan: Paul Gray ‘Will Be a Part of the Next Record’

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Slipknot are currently on a break from their last touring cycle, which included a headlining spot on the 2012 Mayhem Festival, the Heavy T.O. and Heavy MTL festivals, and the band’s very own live creation, Knotfest. In a recent interview Artisan News, Slipknot percussionist and creative pathfinder Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan  spoke about late bassist Paul Gray ‘s contributions will be heard on the next Slipknot album. “There are songs that he’s written that will be a part of the next record,” says Crahan in the video interview posted below. “We’re all going to have to think like him, and he’ll be there. He’ll be there; there’s no way [that] Paul Gray [will not be] a part of anything that we do for the rest of our career.” Gray’s bass was placed onstage during Slipknot’s last touring cycle, with the band’s touring bassist, Donnie Steele, remaining offstage during shows. We had the opportunity to speak with Clown at the 2012 Heavy MTL festival in Montreal, Quebec, where the masked musician explained the difficulties that Slipknot continue to face without Gray. “As we all know, Paul was a major writing force in the band,” says Clown. “We’ve been sporadically touring for two years to share the grieving process with our fans instead of doing it by ourselves and having them do it by themselves — we’re doing it together … Even though it’s been over two years, you’ve got to be able to go into the studio calm, cool and collected, because I’m not ready to walk into a studio and not see him.” Artisan News Talks to Shawn Crahan [button href=”http://loudwire.com/slipknot-clown-talks-knotfest-antennas-to-hell-legacy-of-paul-gray-more/” title=”Check out Loudwire’s Video Interview with Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan” align=”center”]

Landmine Marathon’s Grace Perry – Brutal Female Metal Vocalists

Prosthetic Grace Perry is the earthshaking vocalist of Arizona death metal band Landmine Marathon . As an original member of the band since its 2004 inception, Perry has helped the group deliver four studio albums. The depth of her guttural voice and her ability to project her screams, along with a serpentine twist binding her lyrics, has helped bring Landmine Marathon to underground prosperity. Metal Injection may have put it best when they called Grace Perry ‘The Praying Mantis of Metal.’ Her sheen, yet menacing stage presence is incredibly unique, as she will ungrudgingly jump into the pit and get knocked around alongside the toughest men in the room. Landmine Marathon’s latest release is the 2011 full-length ‘Gallows.’ Perry delivers the most booming and well-rounded performance of her career on the album, and we highly recommend it for death metal fans everywhere. Check out Landmine Marathon’s video for ‘Beaten and Left Blind,’ along with a perfect showcase of Grace Perry’s perplexing stage presence in this live performance of ‘Rise With the Tide.’ [button href=”http://loudwire.com/kat-katz-brutal-female-metal-vocalists” title=”Next Female Vocalist: ‘Trauma Queen'” align=”center”] Landmine Marathon, ‘Beaten and Left Blind’ Landmine Marathon, ‘Rise With the Tide’ (Live)

With 13 albums released, 32 music videos in the can, nearly 30 years of existence and over 38 million albums sold worldwide, there are few bands that can touch the career of Megadeth. To celebrate this legendary metal act, we offer our list of the 10 Best Megadeth Songs.
