Creed’s Scott Stapp Recounts Fracturing Skull in 40-Foot Fall + Being Saved by Rapper T.I.

Jason Smith, Getty Images Creed singer Scott Stapp has just released his official memoir, ‘Sinner’s Creed.’ You might not think Stapp’s bio would be as interesting as noted works by rockers such as Nikki Sixx and Keith Richards, but you might want to read the book with your eyes wide open . For instance, did you know the singer once fell 40-foot from a balcony while on a multi-day drug binge, fracturing his skull, breaking his hip and nose, before finally being discovered by his “guardian angel” — rapper T.I.? Stapp dropped by VH1′s ‘Big Morning Buzz Live’ to promote his new book, offering the incredible story for all who want to listen. Now sober and a mentor to various individuals who are struggling with addiction, Stapp begins to describe the cryptic night, which begins in the penthouse suite of Miami’s Delano Hotel. “I’ll never forget it,” begins Stapp. “The rooms were all white and I remember in one of the stages of my being awake for three days, I thought I was in ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’, in an asylum. I started hearing things, like the cops were coming through the door and I started thinking, “I can’t embarrass my family.” I was trying to climb over the balcony and fell 40 feet.” Stapp continues, “I had met T.I. back in 2004, we were both writing songs for ‘The Passion of the Christ’ soundtrack and we had briefly interacted there and knew what each other looked like. We’d talked about being fans of Alabama [Crimson Tide] … he came out, and as I’m laying on the ledge, blood fell to his feet and he looked up and he had an Alabama hat on. I said, ‘Roll tide,’ and then he looked at me and put two and two together and really saved my life.” Check out VH1′s video footage of Scott Stapp telling the story of his near-death experience. Dinosaur Jr. Frontman J Mascis Recounts Time When Kurt Cobain Asked Him to Join Nirvana

Ebet Roberts/Frank Micelotta, Getty Images Alternative rockers Dinosaur Jr. have had a long and successful career, but things almost went another route when their frontman J Mascis was asked by Kurt Cobain to join Nirvana back in the day. In a new interview with Spin , Mascis remembers the invitation in July of 1989 at a club in New Jersey. “Nirvana was playing Maxwell’s and after the show I was talking to Kurt and [Sonic Youth’s] Thurston Moore,” Mascis recalls. “Kurt said, ‘You should join my band.’ I think he was sick of the guy Jason [Everman] who was in the band at the time, and thought I should play guitar. I didn’t think much about it. Later, there was also talk of playing drums on a single they were doing [‘Silver’], but it ended up being [Mudhoney drummer] Dan Peters.” After splitting up in the late ’90s, Dinosaur Jr have been back together since 2005. Their tenth studio album, ‘I Bet on Sky,’ was recently released. Nirvana, meanwhile, recently topped our list of the 10 Best Grunge Bands of All Time. Creed’s Scott Stapp Expresses Disappointment With Obama Administration

Ethan Miller, Getty Images Creed vocalist Scott Stapp is among those voicing his political concerns as the presidential race heats up. The singer says that while he was fully behind Barack Obama in 2008, he’s not exactly thrilled with what he’s seen from our current leader. Speaking on the Fox & Friends television show (see video below), Stapp revealed that he was “disappointed” by Obama, whom he claims “made a lot of promises, but no real delivery.” Sharing his thoughts on which way he’s leaning these days, Stapp said, “My heart and soul would really want someone like Reagan or FDR to come back and give us a New Deal. Be bold, be committed, don’t care what anybody thinks.” He also stated that we need someone who can lead us out of the current recession and that he’s looking for a strong decision maker to emerge during the debates. The vocalist said that while he backed Obama previously, he’s a little more hesitant this time. “For me, it’s hard to commit and to trust President Obama again because I was so inspired and thought everything was going to change,” says Stapp. “I know he walked into a tough situation, but I feel change is in the air.” In addition to talking politics, Stapp is making the rounds this week to promote his new book, ‘ Sinner’s Creed ,’ which shares his life story. Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee Turns 50

Ethan Miller, Getty Images We’d like to send out a very happy 50th birthday today (Oct. 3) to legendary Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee . Having manned the kit for Crue since 1981, Tommy Lee has been a crucial part of rock and metal’s musical fabric for over three decades. Known for his infamous exploits both on and offstage, we celebrate the unique life of Tommy Lee. Motley Crue perhaps set the benchmark for pure debauchery during the ’80s hair metal era. Along with his contributions to Motley Crue’s music, Lee added to the band’s reputation of consuming superhuman amounts of alcohol and drugs, escapades with an immeasurable amount of women, constantly adding new ink to their bodies and having numerous run-ins with the law. Crue dominated the airwaves during the ’80s with tracks such as ‘Girls, Girls, Girls,’ ‘Dr. Feelgood,’ ‘Kickstart My Heart,’ ‘Shout at the Devil’ and many more. After 18 years of drumming for Motley Crue, Tommy Lee left the band in 1999 to pursue other interests. Lee went on the build a career with Methods of Mayhem, along with two solo records, an album with supergroup Rock Star Supernova and a number of guest appearances with Nine Inch Nails , Rob Zombie and more. But thankfully, Lee rejoined the Crue in 2004 and has been rocking out with them since. Tommy Lee is one of the world’s most entertaining live drummers, with stunt-like feats constantly being performed by the percussionist. Along with his 360 degree spinning drum contraption and flying around stadiums to hidden percussion kits, Lee now brings his drum rollercoaster to Crue performances, upping the insanity level to a new high. We wish Tommy Lee a very happy 50th birthday, as does his bandmate Nikki Sixx in the tweet below: HAPPY B DAY to my brother @ mrtommyland .I love you. — Nikki Sixx (@NikkiSixx) October 3, 2012 Tommy himself tweeted out to all his well-wishers, with a big thank you: HOLY F@cking B-DAY WISHES!! Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell and Wife Sued by Former Housekeeper

Roger Kisby, Getty Images Soundgarden  frontman  Chris Cornell  and his wife Vicky have been sued by their former maid, who claims she was overworked and underpaid. According to TMZ , the couple hired Elia Mora to clean their house in 2006 and she stayed on until December 2011. Mora says that last year, on the day after Christmas, she declined to return to the couple’s home to do additional cleaning after finishing up her shift. This apparently didn’t sit well with Mrs. Cornell, whom Mora claims responded by screaming a series of insults. Apparently, the conversation ended with Mora out of a job, and now she’s taking the Cornells to court. Mora’s lawsuit claims she was forced to work 43 hours a week without overtime, and was never given uninterrupted lunches or breaks. According to TMZ, neither of the Cornells have commented publicly yet, and the report doesn’t mention specific damages Mora is seeking. In the meantime, Soundgarden are getting ready to release its sixth studio album (and first in 16 years), ‘King Animal,’ due on Nov. 13. The first single, ‘Been Away Too Long,’ was unleashed last week. Falling in Reverse’s Ronnie Radke Reportedly Arrested for Throwing Mic Stands Into Crowd

Jason Merritt, Getty Images Falling in Reverse frontman Ronnie Radke has apparently run into trouble again. The singer was reportedly arrested after the FestEVIL performance in New Jersey for throwing four mic stands into the audience and injuring a pair of audience members. The Asbury Park Press reports that two people were actually struck in the head by the stands during the Sunday (Sept. 30) performance at the Six Flags Great Adventure show. One of the victims, a 16-year-old girl, suffered a two- to three-inch cut on top of her head and bruising on her forehead. The other victim, a 24-year-old man, was being treated at the scene for his injuries. Kristin Siebeneicher, spokeswoman for the theme park, said afterward, “This was the first metal show that we’ve ever had and will be the last. We have no plans to host another metal show … This performer was completely reckless. He had complete disregard for the safety of his fans. His actions were totally unacceptable. It’s not the type of entertainment that we want to be producing.” The singer reportedly posted bail and was released after the arrest. Radke was arrested back in August on an outstanding warrant for domestic assault . That followed a prison stint relating to an altercation where an 18-year-old man died in a fatal shooting. Though Radke did not shoot the man in question, he was cited on battery charges and given probation. The probation was later revoked when he failed to report for parole and ended with him serving a two-year prison sentence. Falling in Reverse are expected to resume touring with the start of “ The Thug in Me Is You ” tour Oct. 11 in Portland, Ore.
