Ryan Pierse, Getty Images They say time heals all wounds, but not enough time has passed for DJ Lethal to let his ousting from Limp Bizkit go. While tweeting back and forth with some of his followers, Lethal let loose with a number of barbs against his former mates. Theprp.com reports that the conversation started with the Lethal digging in on the news that his old band’s new single was going to be ‘ Pain .’ He stated, “Don’t get me started. ‘Pain’??? Really. Come on. LP is making better songs. R&Bizkit?!??!??? FaCEPALM.” He would add, “I like Linkin Park better than Limp Bizkit. Haaa. At least they still make music, not sell out. I used to rock!?!’ From there he added, “I used to do it for the nookie. I’m lucky I didn’t get an STD. But if I went the Paris/Kim way, you would know. Bad luck. Rockstar with a LIL PP.” In another tweet, he added, “Basically Fred [Durst] is 43 years old. How long can that dude do it for the NOOKIE? Don’t get me wrong there was a time when he wrote his own lyrics.” Lethal also cited his love for Korn and Deftones , and added, “Because the lead singer of those bands can SING. Lb now = gangban.” He would follow stating, “Honestly, Limp Bizkit stole they’re qhol # style from Deftones. Vocally!!!” When a Twitter follower attempted to back Limp Bizkit, Lethal added, “I hate a–holes that judge me for leaving a ‘band’ I was in for 15 years. Your like a f-n moose that got lucky!! F— Fred Durst. I was talented and was an artist own before u even knew who Fred was. If tout gonna be a #wigger, than do your homework. #houseofpain bitch!” He also defended his right to speak his mind, adding, “Don’t like it, f— off. U like Wes [Borland] new moustache? F— you! You think Fred is a better rapper than MGK? FU.” Before signing out, the DJ concluded, “Ok, yeah I’m drunk talking s—. No I know who my REAL friends are. Gareth Cattermole, Getty Images Pearl Jam vocalist Eddie Vedder performed a short set for a Barack Obama fundraiser last night (Sept. 20) in Tampa Bay, Fla. Along with playing for President Obama and a crowd of 85 guests, who paid $20,000 per-person to attend, Vedder had some choice words for Republican candidate Mitt Romney and his recent claims that 47 percent of Americans consider themselves as victims who are entitled to government assistance. According to Rolling Stone , Vedder addressed Romney’s words during the Obama fundraiser. “It’s very upsetting to hear a presidential candidate be so easily dismissive of such a ginormous amount of the population.” As a supporter of government-funded programs and someone who benefited from those programs before hitting it big with Pearl Jam, Vedder recalled signing up for a government security guard training program. “I’m an example of someone who never made it to university,” Vedder told the crowd. “I did have this dream to be a musician. I felt that this dream had an expiration date … It was that job which allowed me to keep affording to guitars and microphones,” the Pearl Jam frontman said. “For me, it all began with that ability to get the proper training for a decent job.” President Obama went on to thank Vedder for his words, while praising the musician’s grassroots rise to fame. “For you to share that story with us, Eddie, speaks volumes not only about you but about this country,” Obama told Vedder. “That story captures better than anything what this campaign is about and what this country is about.” Pearl Jam are scheduled to play a handful of U.S. shows to round out September, before Vedder embarks on a solo tour, which begins in Las Vegas on Halloween night. Karl Walter / Nick Laham, Getty Images The UK’s legendary Download Festival has just announced two of the headlining acts for their 2013 bill. Iron Maiden will headline the second day of Download (June 15) to bring their ‘Maiden England’ tour to over 100,000 rabid fans. Rammstein are also confirmed for the fest, and will headline the closing June 16 date. Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson offered his excitement for once again headlining the Donington Park fest. “We’re absolutely over the moon to be headlining Donington again,” says Dickinson. “The idea of returning exactly 25 years later with a show inspired by that same 1988 “Seventh Son” Tour, was too good an opportunity to be missed! And, thanks to modern technology, we’ve been able to update and improve on the original production.” Dickinson continues, “We will be bringing a huge new lightshow, stage set, various incarnations of Eddie, plenty of pyro and all kinds of other exciting stuff for the fans. And of course treating the fans to lots of their favourite songs from that period! We’ve had many great times at Donington and there is always a wonderful mix of bands and a really wild crowd who love their metal, all of which makes for a memorable show and fantastic party atmosphere!” Rammstein offered a shorter, yet entertaining quote on closing out the fest with their unique brand of German metal. “It’s only a festival…not a moon landing,” Rammstein comments. Download 2013 will open their gates from June 14-16 at Donington Park for what is already sure to be a memorable outing. The festival organizers have not yet announced who will be headlining the first day, or what other acts will be added to the lineup. Tickets for the 2013 Download Festival will be available beginning Sept. 28. David Livingston, Getty Images For many metalheads, Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick is considered one of the greatest of all time. As one of the most talented and sonically diverse guitarists in music today, Skolnick possesses the skills of a master metal, jazz and symphonic artist, which is why he’s the perfect teacher and host for the new series ‘Louder Education.’ Established by Metal Injection and Peavey, ‘Louder Education’ is hosted at Tomato’s House of Rock (T.H.O.R.) in New York City. Along with Skolnick, ‘Louder Education’ is co-hosted by Chris ‘Tomato’ Harfenist and is attended by the T.H.O.R. students, a collective group of young musicians looking to hone their creative abilities. The first episode of ‘Louder Education’ features Charred Walls of the Damned drummer Richard Christy , who also had legendary runs playing with Iced Earth and Death . Additionally, Christy can be heard on the Howard Stern Show as an on-air personality and master prank caller. The drummer shares his life’s story as a musician, including how he was recruited to play for Death, living life on the road + much more. As is if this wasn’t cool enough for the T.H.O.R. students to witness, some of the kids even got the opportunity to jam Death’s classic track ‘Crystal Mountain’ with Richard Christy manning the drums. Tim Whitby / Andrew H. Walker, Getty Images Actress Lindsay Lohan is in trouble with the law again, thanks to a late-night hit-and-run that left a New York pedestrian with a wounded leg and earned Lohan another trip to the hoosegow on Wednesday (Sept. 19). But if Slash is to be believed, the whole thing is a big misunderstanding. The legendary guitarist took to Twitter to express his support for Lohan, claiming that “The situation last night w/Lindsey was a lame paparazzi stunt” and insisting, “She didn’t do anything. it’s being blown out of proportion.” Lohan had attended Slash’s show at NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom earlier that night (check out our review + photo gallery of the gig). As TMZ points out, paparazzi weren’t involved in this particular incident, and Slash wasn’t even present when it occurred, so while his tweet is certainly the 21st-century equivalent of gallant, we may want to take it with a grain of salt. On the other hand, he was with Lohan immediately prior to the accident, and can therefore counter claims that, as TMZ put it, she “reeked of booze” when she clipped a pedestrian with her car. The NYPD’s version of events actually backs this up; according to the New York Daily News , police didn’t administer a Breathalyzer at the scene, and they “don’t think she was impaired” — but she’s still being charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Michael Buckner, Getty Images Coheed and Cambria have been known to pull out every stop to create an overall concept for their albums, but for ‘ The Afterman: Ascension ,’ singer Claudio Sanchez is at least preparing the band’s fans for the next chapter with a video series explanation. Those who follow the group know their dedication not only to the music but also in creating an interweaving story with the songs and overall discs that the listener can dig into deeper should they choose. The first of a nine-part explanation of the album’s concept has just surfaced, with Sanchez detailing through words and illustrations where we’re at when the latest musical chapter begins. “Our main character Cyrus Amory is about embark on this journey into the unknown,” reveals Sanchez. “He essentially discovers the energy source and what its relationship is to the planets and the doors are opening and in come these apparitions that I’m not sure that he can see, but the viewer can see that there is something mysterious and interesting coming through.” The first trailer, subtitled ‘The Hollow,’ can currently be seen at the band’s website , and further chapters revealing the concept’s details are expected to continue at least up to the release of ‘The Afterman: Ascension’ on Oct. 9. AFP, Getty Images / Andreas Rentz, Getty Images It’s widely known that Marilyn Manson came up with his stage name by combining the monikers of actress Marilyn Monroe and infamous convicted mass murderer Charles Manson. The two names were chosen by Marilyn Manson because he felt that the pair were the two biggest icons of the 1960s. Apparently, the shock rock icon is pretty infamous himself in the mind of Charles Manson, as a postcard from the prisoner to the rock star has been leaked online. It seems as the name ‘Manson’ has come full circle from one infamous icon to the other. Although Charles Manson seems like a complete mental case, the notorious cult mastermind is one of the most quotable public figures in recent history. Some have even found deep meaning within the ‘ATWA’ philosophy of Charles Manson, which is an ecological mandate that stands for ‘Air, Trees, Water, Animals’ and/or ‘All The Way Alive.’ Whether or not Charles Manson’s handwritten letter to Marilyn Manson contains any sort of wisdom is up to the reader, but either way, it’s an interesting and bizarre read: To Marilyn Manson – It’s taken me a long time to get there from where I could touch M. Manson. Now I got a card to play – you may look into my non-profit, ATWA, and give Manson what you think he’s got coming for Air, Trees, Water, and you. Or I will pay Manson what you think Manson got coming – the music has make Manson into Abraxas Devil, and I’m SURE you would want some of what I got from what I got. It’s a far out balance. Beyond good and bad, right, wrong. What you don’t do is what I will do – what you did a sing-along, and let it roll and said how you saved me a lot of steps – I don’t need, it’s not a need or a want. Couped – coup. Ghost dancers slay together and you’re just in my grave Sunstroker Corona-coronas-coronae – you seen me from under with it all standing on me. That’s 2 dump trucks – doing the same as CMF 000007 Charles Manson As of this posting, there has been no word of Marilyn Manson responding to, or even having read the letter, but if he does, we’ll be sure to let you know.
