The collection includes the double-disc ‘Avalon Live,’ ‘The Making of Avalon Live’ documentary, ‘The Journey to Avalon’ documentary, and a DVD of bloopers and outtakes. The box set also contains a pair of CDs — the original ‘Avalon’ album and the ‘Avalon Live’ show recording. Other items that are part of the collection include an autographed limited edition coffee table book, an updated version of Sully’s personal memoir, ‘The Paths We Choose,’ a limited edition poster from the show at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston, and a limited edition t-shirt, a Sully Erna hat and necklace, a commemorative backstage pass from the 2010 tour, a guitar pick and a custom handmade incense chosen by Erna. The full collection is priced at $249, but the first 1,000 people to pre-order will get it for $199. In addition, Erna has placed five “golden tickets” in the boxes and the winners will receive trips with the vocalist to either Napa, Boston, New York, Las Vegas, or Avalon/Catalina Island. Reprise New music releases are usually sparse as the calendar year comes to an end. Despite this, there are still some albums, box sets and other releases to pick up this December. Perhaps the most anticipated album the year’s final month will come Dec. 11 when Green Day complete their trilogy with the release of ‘¡Tré!’ The first two albums of the band’s project, ‘¡Uno!’ and ‘¡Dos!’ were met with critical acclaim, and there’s no reason to expect a different reaction to ‘¡Tré!’ Metallica will be releasing their ‘Quebec Magnetic’ DVD/Blu-ray in December. ‘Quebec Magnetic,’ a double DVD and single Blu-ray disc, was recorded during a two-night stint in Quebec City, Canada, in the fall of 2009 during the ‘World Magnetic Tour.’ Bands such as Chevelle , Hinder , KISS , Sully Erna and the Smashing Pumpkins will also be unleashing material. Facebook: Sevendust Sevendust have titled their upcoming album ‘Black Out the Sun,’ according to a recent interview with guitarist Clint Lowery. The band’s upcoming ninth studio album is tentatively slated to drop in April 2013. ‘Black Out the Sun’ was recorded with engineer Mike Ferretti at Architekt Studios in New Jersey. In an interview with Source of the Sound With Wendy Campbell , guitarist Clint Lowery talked about the upcoming record by saying, “It’s a lot of what we do — it’s heavy and it’s got its melodic element in it.” He goes on to say “So if you’re a Sevendust fan, it’s more along the lines of the second and third records we did — it’s kind of like that. It’s got a couple of throwback vibes to it. ‘Animosity’ and ‘Home,’ if I can put those two records together, it would [sound similar to the new CD].” In the same interview, Lowery also stated that the band was in talks of a possible trek with Coal Chamber and Lacuna Coil in early 2013. In Loudwire’s interview with drummer Morgan Rose , he talked about the upcoming disc by saying “I know I’m gonna scream like a banshee on the next record, I don’t know how many more we got left in us – from now on it’s gotta be treated like it’s the last one in my book. I know it’s gonna be real heavy.” ‘Black Out the Sun’ will be the band’s follow-up to their 2010 album ‘Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow.’ Sevendust will be playing Shiprocked 2012 along with Godsmack , Korn , Finger Death Punch and more. Kevin Winter, Getty Images With the 20th anniversary edition of their self-titled debut set to be released Nov. 27, Rage Against the Machine fans are wondering if the band plans on recording a new album. Hopes were raised when bassist Tim Commerford said “maybe” when asked if the band was up to anything new, and then followed that up with the more emphatic ‘ definitely maybe ” a little while later. But now, guitarist Tom Morello in a new interview tells Billboard they have “no plans beyond” the release of ‘Rage Against the Machine: XX.’ “We’re really psyched to be putting this out for the fans,” Morello says of the deluxe reissue. “We are blessed with having perhaps the most passionate fans to ever listen to a bootlegged recording or mosh at a show, so I want to really give them a mother lode of Rage Against The Machine history, past and present.” RATM hasn’t released a studio album since 2000′s ‘Renegades,’ but reunited at Coachella in 2007 and have played sporadic live shows since then. Their last performance was in July of 2011 at the L.A. Rising Festival. In looking back at their debut album, Morello says it feels good that it’s as relevant as ever. “It doesn’t feel like 20 years, but at the same time it’s sobering that it is. There’s no crystal ball that we could’ve looked into when we were writing these songs in 1991 that would have told us we’d be talking about this record over two decades later.” Morello adds, ”And I will say that 20 years later we’re able to take pride in the fact that in the history of rock music there has never been a more popular band with as radical politics as Rage Against The Machine, nor has there been a band with more radical politics than Rage Against The Machine that has been as popular. Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com There may have been questions at one point as to whether or not Avenged Sevenfold would continue after supporting the ‘Nightmare’ disc as a tribute to late drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan, but the band is definitely progressing toward a new album. Singer M. Shadows tells The Pulse of Radio (excerpted by Blabbermouth ) that the band has resumed writing and has been working on new music since August. While keeping details close to the vest, Shadows offered, “I try not to say too much about the album because you know how the Internet world is, so I’ll just say this: We have a direction, we’re sticking to that direction and we feel really very happy writing in these terms that we’ve laid out for ourselves.” He went on to add, “The album is coming along very nicely. We’re excited to get in the studio. We have about six songs that I’m really happy with right now, and we’re continuing to write every single day.” The band showed signs of their continuance recently with the release of the new track ‘ Carry On ,’ which was tied to the ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ video game. As for the new disc, the current estimate is to expect a new Avenged Sevenfold release by June or July of next year. Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Machine Head recently were forced off the road as frontman Robb Flynn could no longer soldier through the pain of his double inguinal hernia. The band left a massive tour with Dethklok, All That Remains and the Black Dahlia Murder so Flynn could undergo emergency surgery. The singer went under the knife yesterday (Nov. 14), filming the process along the way. Robb Flynn’s surgery diary begins with the frontman being driven to the hospital, acting less than enthusiastic about the procedure, but reassured fans, “I’m a little nervous; I going under anesthesia, but I’m stoked to be getting it done. I’ve been putting it off for too damn long.” The rest of the short film includes Flynn giving very specific details and updates throughout the day, while showing off his ballin’ purple hospital socks. As a dazed Flynn woke up from the surgery, he seemed relieved to be done with his hernia burden. “Apparently it went really good,” assured Flynn. “I got a couple of holes in me. I’ve got some IV going, I’ve got some good drugs on me; not feeling a whole lot of pain right now … apparently my double inguinal hernia is fixed.” Flynn went on to thank his bandmates and friends for their support during the process, of course adding that his family jewels were feeling sore. Loud & Proud Queensryche have spent most of the year in the headlines for their legal issues with now former frontman Geoff Tate , but the time has come to put the court issues on the backburner and get back to making music. Fans can now check out the first taste of what a Todd La Torre-led Queensryche will sound like thanks to a new trailer that’s surfaced online. Helping to build the buzz, the trailer begins with the simple wordage, “Remember now. Remember how it started.” What follows is a string of snippets of songs that show off the range of La Torre, who can hit some of the highest highs that Tate used to hit, but also use his low register as well. In addition, it’s clear that being without the frequent creative force hasn’t led Queensryche members Scott Rockenfield, Eddie Jackson and Michael Wilton too far off course. The longtime Queensryche trio, along with veteran guitarist Parker Lundgren who joined a few years back, stay true to the roots that the band created years ago, at least in the snippets heard in the trailer.
