Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Rob Zombie is currently on the road with Marilyn Manson for the ‘Twins of Evil’ tour, but recording his next album is still very much a priority for the musician. Zombie released ‘Hellbilly Deluxe II’ in February 2010, and the follow-up promises to be dark, heavy and weird. Although Zombie won’t be playing any of his new songs on the ‘Twins of Evil’ tour, he recently spoke in depth about his nearly completed fifth full-length record. “We’re not doing anything new just because nobody wants to hear new songs off a record that isn’t out yet,” Zombie tells ToledoFreePress.com . “That is just wasted concert time. We’re mixing it up and doing some older stuff that people will be excited to hear, but nothing new.” Zombie continues, “It’s stylistically sort of a little bit of everything. Fans of my really old stuff will love it because there’s a certain aspect of it that’s very reminiscent of that. But it also is very looking to the future. It’s hard to describe music to somebody if they haven’t heard it, but I feel like it’s the best of all of the things I’ve done. I’ve finally found a perfect match between the old stuff I did and the new stuff. That’s the way it sounds to me anyway.” The prolific musician and horror filmmaker claims to be in one of the most creatively successful periods of his life, which Zombie says will be represented in the upcoming album. “It seems to happen every couple of years or every 10 years or every five years or whatever, you have a moment when it all comes together. Not that the other records are bad, but not every record can be like the most inspired event in your life. But for some reason, this one feels like it is. The songwriting, the sound of it, the vibe, the production — it’s special.” Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson’s ‘Twins of Evil’ tour is set to conclude in Dallas on Oct. 31. Fuse TV Intergalactic metallers GWAR provide planet Earth with a number of generous contributions, and although the band tends to hate the human race, they certainly provide us with an entertaining alternative to our typically mundane existence. Along with amusing us with their music and iconic stage show, GWAR have created another must see piece of amusement, as the band recently documented pre-Halloween round of trick-or-treating. Unaccustomed to many Earthly traditions, GWAR chose to give trick-or-treating a shot for the very first time, bringing Fuse TV along with them to film the occasion. Although GWAR were grossly misinformed of when trick-or-treating is socially acceptable, the space monsters went door to door in the beautiful suburbs of New Jersey. GWAR front-thing Oderus Urungus didn’t really wear a costume for the occasion, instead choosing to cover himself in colorful boas and a giant Barack Obama cutout mounted on his battle armor. Bassist Beefcake the Mighty donned a pink tutu for his costume, as new GWAR shredder Pustulus Maximus bought himself a giant cowboy hat for his first Halloween on Earth. Needless to say, hilarity ensues as GWAR proceed to pillage the neighborhood in search of tasty treats. The follow-up to the band’s 2010 album, ‘There Is a Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen it. There Is a Heaven, Let’s Keep It a Secret,’ will be titled by the single word ‘Sempiternal,’ which means everlasting or unchanging. Having formed in 2004, Bring Me the Horizon have risen to the top of the current metalcore scene. Speaking of their upcoming effort, vocalist Oli Sykes talks about ‘Sempiternal’ with Kerrang! magazine. “I’ve never been so confident about an album,” says Sykes. “It makes our last record just sound s–t. We’re doing stuff we could never dreamed of doing before.” Additionally, Bring Me the Horizon recently performed as part of a metalcore night for BBC Radio. Facebook: Asking Alexandria Asking Alexandria continue to evolve with each record, and guitarist Ben Bruce tells Billboard that the UK metalcore band’s forthcoming release will be more of a balance between “radio friendly” rock and the “balls-to-the-wall” vibe of some of their earlier material. The guitarist explains, “[The new album is] a lot more mature. [We may have] a lot of radio singles — what we’re calling radio singles, songs we’re going to push towards radio and try to accelerate our career and get to the next level and hopefully bring our old fans across with us.” Though the band has a few more radio-friendly cuts, Bruce is quick to qualify, “[The rest of it will be] our usual balls-to-the-wall kind of stuff. We spent a long time honing in on our song structures and writing techniques and things like that, but there are still heavy songs on the record. We’re not just going to throw that away and kick our original fan base in the teeth by getting rid of all that. There will still be a lot of riffing and screaming. But we feel like we did find a happy medium between being heavy and then being light enough to be on radio, but still keeping the balls in the songs.” Bruce says the band is also staying true to their instruments, revealing that on their last record there were some “fake” noises from computer input. This time, however, the guitarist says things are more organic with a real orchestra backing them up and a church gospel choir singing on a few tracks. Earlier this year, singer Danny Worsnop said of the new music , “It’s literally the best album we can write at this point in time. We spent a lot more time on the music. We spent a lot of time working on these songs and making them be as good as they can possibly be … It’s much more positive than anything we’ve done before. There’s some positive uplifting messages.” While the group has yet to title their album, they have unleashed a new track called ‘Run Free’ that’s being used to promote their headlining stint on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour . The trek launches Nov. 16 in Edmonton, Ontario. The new album is expected in the first half of 2013. Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Bullet for My Valentine premiered a new song ‘Temper Temper’ yesterday (Oct. 22) on BBC Radio 1, and now have made the audio of the track available on YouTube (listen below). ‘Temper Temper’ is from Bullet for My Valentine’s upcoming fourth studio album. Produced by Don Gilmore ( Linkin Park , Pearl Jam ), the album is due in early 2013. The title and exact release date have not yet been revealed. Their previous effort ‘Fever’ (2010) cracked the Top 5 in countries all over the world, including the U.S. (No. 3), U.K. (No. 5) and Japan (No. 1). The song is certainly catchy, especially the sing-song chorus. ‘Temper Temper’ has plenty of melody and is destined for rock radio airplay. The initial reaction from fans, however, is mixed at best if you gauge the comments on the band’s Facebook and YouTube pages. Earlier this year, frontman Matt Tuck revealed they had been working on new music in Thailand. He says those that have heard their new music say it sounds like “a very confident, focused rock band.” In addition to his work with BFMV, Tuck has been busy with AxeWound . The band, which also includes Cancer Bats vocalist Liam Cormier, drummer Jason Bowld of Pitchshifter, ex-Rise to Remain bassist Joe Coput and Glamour of the Kill guitarist Mike Kingswood, recently released their debut album ‘ Vultures .’ Bullet for My Valentine performed at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals, and are set to play Soundwave Festival in Australia in 2013. Metallica.com Metallica have just filled in a lot if the missing pieces regarding their upcoming live DVD/Blu-ray. The special release, recorded during a two-night residency in Canada in Quebec City in the fall of 2009 during their ‘World Magnetic Tour,’ features a set list chosen by fans and marks a very special release for Metallica. Due out on Dec. 10, ‘Quebec Magnetic,’ a double DVD and single disc Blu-ray, will serve as the very first time Metallica have released anything on their own North American label. Although the band isn’t disclosing all the details about the label yet, Metallica are stoked about the venture, as expressed in a recent statement on their website : “We’re pretty excited that for the first time we get to hold all the reins on a release from start to finish.” As part of releasing it on their own and maintaining control, the band is promising a very affordable price with a suggested retail cost of $15.98 for either format. The fan-voted setlist for the main disc was also revealed and can be seen below. However, all of the songs played throughout the two shows are included on the DVD/Blu-ray version. Rick Diamond, Getty Images With the presidential election just over two weeks away, Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready has teamed up with filmmaker Jesse Dylan in a video encouraging people to vote only for Congressional candidates that support the Affordable Care Act, also known as ObamaCare (watch below). In the video, McCready voices his support for the Affordable Care Act because of his personal experience in dealing with pre-existing conditions. McCready suffers from Crohn’s Disease. “Before the Affordable Care Act, people with conditions like mine could be denied coverage. I know. I was denied twice, even being a member of a famous rock band,” said McCready. “The people who don’t have those kind of resources, they are stuck, they have no choices. But now, we can’t be denied insurance because of something we can’t change—our illnesses. We have choices, we can be insured, and we can focus on having a life.” The two also have issued a joint statement about the issue. Part of the letter explains why they support the Affordable Care Act: “The insurance industry’s structure left 129 million Americans – including 17 million children – at risk of being denied health insurance because they have a pre-existing medical condition. Millions of Americans tried to buy health care, but were turned away or charged more because they were sick (or had been sick), and therefore didn’t look like a good risk. Millions more Americans were unable to afford insurance, or exceeded their lifetime treatment caps, or experienced other difficulties that left them uninsured and without access to affordable health care when they needed it most. Business isn’t a bad thing. But the business of health insurance hasn’t been a good thing in America. Not for anyone with a chronic illness, or with a spouse who got sick and lost their job, or for a gravely ill child and his or her parents. President Obama’s Affordable Care Act (ACA) recognized these shortcomings and rectified them. ObamaCare does for health care what business could not or would not; it prohibits discrimination against those of us with pre-existing conditions. It ensures everyone, regardless of their employment status or health care situation, access to quality insurance and medical care. Everyone. Period.” McCready has started a petition on SignOn.org where people can join him to pledge their vote for candidates that support the Affordable Care Act.
