Revolver Lord knows that many of the musicians taking part in this year’s Revolver Golden Gods have done their fair share of interviews overs the years, but in the commercial for the 2013 ceremony, they get to experience life from the other side of the microphone in what amounts to the world’s most metal press conference. The awesome and hilarious commercial finds host Chris Jericho concluding a press conference and then taking questions from “the media.” However, the media for this event are some very well known faces, with everyone from Anthrax ‘s Scott Ian to Halestorm ‘s Lzzy Hale throwing questions at the host. The spot offers a who’s who of the hard rock and metal genres, with Ian, Five Finger Death Punch ‘s Jeremy Spencer, Zakk Wylde , John 5 , In This Moment ‘s Maria Brink, Hale and Sebastian Bach all having speaking parts while various other members of Five Finger Death Punch, Halestorm and other bands can be seen in the background. The commercial in general offers a humorous look at not only some of the talent playing this year’s ceremony, but also mentions some of the major names like Metallica and Rob Zombie that will be receiving honors. The fifth annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards show takes place at Los Angeles’ Club Nokia May 2 and will air on AXS TV, XBOX Live and Facebook . For ticket information, click here . Dee Snider to Be Roasted by Zakk Wylde, Scott Ian + More at 2nd Annual ‘Rock & Roll Roast’
Ethan Miller (3), Getty Images Outspoken Twisted Sister vocalist Dee Snider will have the tables turned on him on Jan. 24 when he becomes the subject of the 2nd Annual ‘Rock & Roll Roast’ taking place in Anaheim, Calif. The musician will be lovingly skewered by peers such as Zakk Wylde , Anthrax ‘s Scott Ian and Lita Ford , as well as several comedians and celebrities. Penn Jillette, a veteran of ‘ Celebrity Apprentice ‘ alongside Snider and half of the comedy-magic duo Penn & Teller, will serve as the roastmaster for the evening. In addition, Snider will endure a few barbs from WWE wrestler Mick Foley, ‘That Metal Show’ hosts Eddie Trunk and Jim Florentine and comedians Jim Norton and Craig Gass. Payback’s A Mutha f—er!” The event will be taped and will air on AXS TV at midnight ET / 9PM PT Jan. 24. A portion of the proceeds from the ‘Rock & Roll Roast’ will benefit the MusiCares organization, which aids in the financial assistance and addiction recovery programs of musicians in need. In addition to jabs about “lapel pins on uniforms” and “electric twangers,” as referenced in Twisted Sister’s most popular videos, the dais will have lots of material to harp on. Snider released his ‘Shut Up and Give Me the Mic’ autobiography in early 2012. He’s also appeared on such reality shows as ‘Gone Country,’ ‘Rock the Cradle’ and ‘Growing Up Twisted’ on top of his past and upcoming ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ appearances. Scott Ian: ‘This Will Be the Only Version of Anthrax Until There Is No Anthrax’
Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Anthrax have been on a hot streak after reuniting with singer Joey Belladonna in 2010. The band has since toured around the world, with high-profile slots on the Big Four concerts and the 2012 Mayhem Festival, along with releasing the critically acclaimed 2011 album ‘Worship Music.’ With the current lineup remaining strong, guitarist Scott Ian has declared, “This will be the only version of Anthrax until there is no Anthrax.” Scott Ian recently spoke with the Georgia Straight about the return of Joey Belladonna and his strongest traits as a frontman. “There’s a certain maniacal energy that Joey has onstage,” says Ian, “and that’s his thing. I mean, if I just compare him to our contemporaries in the Big Four, between James [Hetfield] and Dave Mustaine and Tom Araya you’ve got three frontmen that are all attached to the microphone—but Joey’s all over the place onstage. He’s a maniac, and I always felt like that was one of the things that gave us the kick in the ass we needed way back when to be able to break through and make it, so to speak.” Ian also spoke about how if the current lineup ever changes, Anthrax will cease to exist. “I’ve gone on record saying this will be the only version of Anthrax until there is no Anthrax,” claims Ian. “That’s how I feel, absolutely, in my heart. I don’t see why we would do anything different. This band sounds so great; we made a great record. And I’m super-excited about the future of this band creatively.” Anthrax are currently on the latest leg of their North American tour with fellow thrash legends Testament and Death Angel.
