Trent Reznor Reveals New Nine Inch Nails Material ‘In the Works’

Sean Gardner, Getty Images The news just keeps getting better for fans of Trent Reznor . While he has received many accolades for his soundtrack work over the last couple of years, fans have been longing for the return of Nine Inch Nails . Now comes word from Reznor himself that Nine Inch Nails are definitely back in action and working on new material. Reznor recently revealed that his How to Destroy Angels project would be arriving with new music, which led to questions about if and when the frontman would revive the band where he made his musical name. The Nine Inch Nails mastermind tells  Rolling Stone  in a new interview, “All signs point to yes. Yeah, there will be new music. There are some things in the works.” Not only could fans potentially see a new album or singles, but Reznor, who retired Nine Inch Nails from touring in 2009, revealed that there may be some shows, as well. When asked about the idea of performing, he explained, “Yeah, if it feels right. It’s a possibility. I never said that that wasn’t going to happen, just that it couldn’t go on as it was. Having a few years doing other things, I’ve enjoyed [them] and I’m enjoying doing How to Destroy Angels, and there will be a place for stuff that falls in the Nine Inch Nails column of things. It’s a different kind of work. Stay tuned. We’ll see what happens.” In other news, but Reznor has been working with the Beats by Dre company on “a number of very interesting projects.” He also provided the soundtrack to the new video game, ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops.’ As for How to Destroy Angels, we know that will come first as they’ve already revealed a Nov. 13 release for the ‘ An Omen ‘ EP. The group, which also features Reznor’s wife Mariqueen Maandig and his music composing partner Atticus Ross, are also working on a full-length album that will follow early next year. Trent Reznor Soundtrack for ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ To Be Released Separately

Karl Walther, Getty Images As one of the most anticipated video games in history, ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ is set to make an enormous impact in the world of gaming on Nov. 13. Along with what promises to be a unique gaming experience, the musical score for ‘Black Ops II’ was created by Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor . The first ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ game had broken the record of the largest ever entertainment launch in history within any form of entertainment, breaking the record 24 hours after its release and bringing in a staggering $650 million within five days of its release. That record has now been surpassed by ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.’ With a true artistic desire to be a part of yet another groundbreaking moment in the entertainment world, Reznor jumped at the chance to create the score for ‘Black Ops II.’ “I look at video games as a true art form,” begins Reznor. “The chance to be involved in something like this is exciting to me. I feel its every bit as viable as film work or music or anything else. The games have gotten more intense and more realistic and more engrossing and deeper. Video game culture has expanded into the largest form of entertainment.” “I was watching the Oscars last year and I see Trent Reznor win the Academy Award,” says ‘Black Ops II’ director Dave Anthony. “A year later, I see him walking around Treyarch [game developers], and I think to myself, ‘Am I dreaming? Trent Reznor is creating the score for our video game.’” The entire 40+ song soundtrack will be given its own individual release on Nov. 13. Reznor’s soundtrack, which also features an original score by Jack Wall, will also come with the physical edition of the game. Watch Trent Reznor + Other Game Developers Discuss ‘Black Ops II’

Trent Reznor Joins Forces With Beats by Dre for ‘A Number of Very Interesting Projects’

Sean Gardner / Christopher Polk, Getty Images Trent Reznor continues to expand his horizons, and he’s now teaming up with hip-hop icon Dr. Dre to contribute to the latter’s Beats by Dre company. The Nine Inch Nails  mastermind revealed in a new posting that he’s joined forces with the headphone maker on several projects that will begin to surface in 2013. During a recent press event, the company announced that Reznor has taken on a consulting role, joining with rap icon Dr. Dre, music mogul Jimmy Iovine and Beats by Dre president Luke Wood in defining the future products to come. According to the Hollywood Reporter , Iovine, Dre and Wood made the announcement while rolling out new products at a press event in New York City. As for his involvement with the company, Reznor played coy for the time being, confirming that while he was taking part in the product development, there was nothing he could share as of yet. In a Facebook post, he wrote: Some of you may have read that I have begun working with Beats by Dre. For the past year I have indeed been involved with Dre, Jimmy Iovine, Luke Wood, and the rest of the team on a number of very interesting projects that will start to emerge next year. I have been wanting to experiment and focus my energy and creativity in some different directions, and Beats has afforded me that very opportunity. The process has been challenging and fascinating and as much as I’d like to tell you about the things we’ve dreamed up … I just can’t. ?Not yet …? (I can tell you it’s probably not what you’re expecting!) The speculation can begin on how Reznor’s partnership will play into his musical output. In the meantime, he is set to release a new EP from his band How to Destroy Angels  later this year, and he also confirmed earlier this year that he’s started work on new Nine Inch Nails music , as well. Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor Offers Insight Into How to Destroy Angels

Facebook: How To Destroy Angels Trent Reznor is a man who wears many hats. Along with fronting the legendary Nine Inch Nails , Reznor has lent his talents to composing film scores, original music for video games, and has produced albums for Marilyn Manson and Jane’s Addiction . Reznor latest project is an upcoming EP from his group How to Destroy Angels. For those of you who are unfamiliar with How to Destroy Angels, the group consists of Reznor, fellow Academy Award winner Atticus Ross (who composed the film soundtrack for ‘The Social Network’ and ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ with Reznor), Nine Inch Nails art director Rob Sheridan and vocalist Mariqueen Maandig, who also happens to be Trent Reznor’s beautiful wife. The band released a self-titled EP in 2010, with their second one, ‘An Omen EP’ to see a release in November. “We’ve been working on this kind of in the shadows throughout ‘The Social Network’ and ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ soundtracks since the core people are all kind of in the same area,” says Reznor in an interview with BBC1 Radio. “We’ve just been chipping away at this thing, and it’s been a nice pressure release valve really to have something to dump this energy into that doesn’t fit the other containers. It’s been fun. He continues, “We’ve just been playing around with the idea of the way that people consume music and listen to it and how big the chunks are. I think coming off of releasing ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ soundtrack that clocked in at 2 hours, we thought let’s do something that’s more manageable, digestible little bits here.” Reznor also speaks about an upcoming 2013 full-length for How to Destroy Angels. “Part of what’s on the EP is taken from a full-length record that’s 98% finished. That’s scheduled for a release at the beginning of next year.” Yesterday, How To Destroy Angels released ‘Keep It Together’ as the first single from ‘The Omen EP.’ Click below to listen: [button href=”http://loudwire.com/trent-reznor-how-to-destroy-angels-new-single-keep-it-together/” title=”Listen to How To Destroy Angels, ‘Keep it Together'” align=”center”]
