How to Destroy Angels To Release Debut Album ‘Welcome Oblivion’ in March

Facebook: How to Destroy Angels After teasing fans in recent years with a pair of EPs,  How to Destroy Angels have revealed their plans for their first full-length album. The group, featuring Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor , revealed in a posting at their website that the new disc, titled ‘Welcome Oblivion,’ is expected on March 5. While that was all that was revealed about the long-anticipated album, the group has dug a little deeper into 2012′s ‘ An Omen ‘ EP, with a trippy new video for the track ‘The Loop Closes.’ Just as the song is filled with all sorts of digital blips and bleeps, the accompanying video offers something visually similar, with quick cutting and often blurred or mangled images of animals, natural disasters, eyeballs, human limbs and even the shadowy faces of the band’s members. The video can be seen below. The clip follows the band’s more story-driven video for ‘ Ice Age ,’ which arrived last fall. That promo found the band members in a remote cabin, with singer Mariqueen Maandig looking out the window as the climate began to shift into something similar to the song’s title. Speaking about How to Destroy Angels last year, Trent Reznor explained, “We’ve just been chipping away at this thing, and it’s been a nice pressure release valve really to have something to dump this energy into that doesn’t fit the other containers. It’s been fun.” Watch How to Destroy Angels’ ‘The Loop Closes’ Video [button href=”http://loudwire.com/trent-reznor-how-to-destroy-angels-new-single-keep-it-together/” title=”Next: Watch How to Destroy Angels’ ‘Keep It Together’ Video” align=”center”]

Queens of the Stone Age Describe New Album as ‘Manic and Unpredictable’

Kristian Dowling, Getty Images Queens of the Stone Age are having a little fun with the media leading up to the release of their next album. Singer Josh Homme and band took the time to write up a missive on their forthcoming release for Mojo magazine, admitting a little bit of the pretention that comes with quotes hyping an album. Queens of the Stone Age have been in the studio for a good part of 2012 with Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl coming on board to play drums for the full record and both former Queens of the Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri and Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor lending a hand as well during sessions. The Mojo message , which featured a rather artful drawing of a single eye with a clock face in place of the pupil that’s set to 9:00, reads as follows: Dear Mojo, A stitch in time will save you 9, but … there’s no way we could have prepared for the journey up the river that is this album. In our grand plan, we envisioned our lives and recordings running like clockwerk. However, the reality has been manic and unpredictable. These songs aren’t recollections of the times we had. They are depictions of what we are going through in real time. It means even a bad event can turn into an unforgettable song — at least for us, ha. The record sounds like running in a dream inside a codeine cabaret. I hope you understand what that means, cause we don’t. Sounds like a load of pretentious s—! What? Gotta go, the therapist says our time is up… Queens of the Stone Age Homme recently spoke about the difficulty the band has had in getting their new album to completion. Though a firm title or release date has yet to be announced, it’s expected that the next Queens of the Stone Age album will arrive in the first half of 2013. How to Destroy Angels Stream ‘An Omen’ EP Ahead of Release

Columbia Records Trent Reznor fans were recently treated to ‘ Keep It Together ,’ the lead song from the ‘ An Omen ‘ EP from his How to Destroy Angels  outfit. Now the full six-song disc has found its way online for fans to check out. Aside from the moody digitalism of ‘Keep It Together,’ the set includes such new standouts as the plucky and somewhat folky ‘Ice Age,’ Reznor’s wife Mariqueen Maandig’s melodically mesmerizing showcase ‘On the Wing,’ and the vintage groove of ‘The Loop’ among others. ‘An Omen’ is serving at the precursor to a full-length disc that will follow. Though a title and release date for the album has not been announced, it is expected within the next year. The new EP drops in stores onTuesday (Nov. 13). Reznor recently revealed that How to Destroy Angels signed to a major label because of what it could offer them going forward, as he views the group reaching a different audience than just those who know him for Nine Inch Nails and needing a way to get new listeners. He  explained , “The main reason I do what I do is I want to do something that matters. I want to be able to create art that reaches the maximum amount of people on my terms … That was a key component … Because it came down to us — us being the band now — sitting around and identifying what our goals were. And the top priority wasn’t to make money. It was to try to reach the most amount of people, and try to reach the most amount of people effectively, that doesn’t feel like it’s coming completely from my backyard. Because I don’t want this project, ultimately, to just be dismissed as a ‘side project’ or … (loud sigh) … a ‘patronizing affair with Trent and his wife.’ Sounds terrible, you know?” In other Trent Reznor news, the singer just revealed he’s begun working on Nine Inch Nails music and he’s also set to appear on the ‘ Call of Duty: Black Ops II ‘ soundtrack that arrives later this month.
