Maynard James Keenan Addresses His Reputation as a Notoriously Difficult Interview

Puscifer Entertainment Prolific musical mastermind and fresh-faced feature columnist Maynard James Keenan has just posted the latest installment of his Phoenix New Times bi-weekly blog. Keenan seems to be given a great deal of freedom when it comes to the subjects he chooses to cover for his column, and in this edition, the musician addresses his reputation for being a notoriously difficult interview. With Maynard Keenan receiving a massive amount of attention for each of his three bands, Tool , A Perfect Circle and Puscifer , journalists are constantly attempting to grab a moment of Keenan’s time. Approaching the 30 year mark as an active musician, Maynard has done his fair share of interviews, famously locking up when not being stimulated by the art of conversation. In Keenan’s latest blog, the singer recounts a discussion that took place between him and the co-author of his upcoming “semi-autobiography.” “She’d been browsing through some press clippings from ?recent years, and after the business end of our conversation, she commented on how forthcoming I was during her interview. She said it stood in direct contrast to some — but not all — of my tight-lipped discourse she’d found online. Her guess was that the journalists in question lacked enthusiasm. Her understatement was correct. This is not the case with all journalists I’ve encountered, but unfortunately, it’s the norm.” He continues, “The awesome writers strike up a conversation and my publicist has to cut us off ‘cuz we’re having too much fun. We call these people journalists. The lazy ones have a list of questions to which they’ve already anticipated the answers, so they don’t bother listening to my responses. We call these people never again.” “There seems to be an epidemic raging out there,” adds Keenan. “A whole lot of people are calling themselves professionals who really have no business doing so … Their skill is squeaking and moaning in order to get their way. Which is fine with me. It makes for easier targets.” Maynard fans are anxiously awaiting for the next Tool album, which is expected to see a 2013 release . Before that, however, Puscifer will likely be releasing their ‘ Donkey Punch the Night ‘ EP this February. Axl Rose Makes Rare Television Appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’

ABC The notoriously reclusive  Axl Rose sat down on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ last night (Oct. 24) for an extremely rare live interview appearance — and the Guns N’ Roses frontman even seemed to enjoy himself a bit. Watch his entire interview in three parts below.  Although the questions (some of which were submitted by fans via Twitter) weren’t exactly hard-hitting, they did give Rose a chance to weigh in on a variety of topics. When reminded that he was sitting just a few minutes from the classic lineup’s old rehearsal space, he admitted that he “unfortunately” remembers those days. And he also claimed he doesn’t regret his infamous cornrows. Rose also joked about his well-known penchant for showing up late, something Kimmel riffed on early in the show when he told the audience Rose hadn’t shown up yet. The rest of the conversation mostly dealt with some of the usual stuff — he loves the new GN’R lineup (although he joked that keyboard player Chris Pittman will be the next one fired), he thought their appearance at the Bridge School benefit “went great” despite widespread claims to the contrary , and he’s looking forward to the band’s Vegas residency . One oddball bit of trivia: Rose once dressed up for Halloween as an ear of corn, because “We have a saying in Guns N’ Roses: When somebody’s gonna get yelled at, they’re gonna get the corn. So one year I was the corn.” The Guns N’ Roses singer also weighed on the Presidential election, saying he doesn’t vote but is leaning toward Barack Obama. In the end, Rose told the audience that he had a free pair of tickets to a Vegas show hidden under an audience member’s seat — and then treated everyone in attendance to food from Tommy’s Burger Truck. All in all, not a bad way to spend an evening — maybe he should try it again sometime sooner than 20 years from now. Watch the complete clip below. Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell and Wife Sued by Former Housekeeper

Roger Kisby, Getty Images Soundgarden  frontman  Chris Cornell  and his wife Vicky have been sued by their former maid, who claims she was overworked and underpaid. According to TMZ , the couple hired Elia Mora to clean their house in 2006 and she stayed on until December 2011. Mora says that last year, on the day after Christmas, she declined to return to the couple’s home to do additional cleaning after finishing up her shift. This apparently didn’t sit well with Mrs. Cornell, whom Mora claims responded by screaming a series of insults. Apparently, the conversation ended with Mora out of a job, and now she’s taking the Cornells to court. Mora’s lawsuit claims she was forced to work 43 hours a week without overtime, and was never given uninterrupted lunches or breaks. According to TMZ, neither of the Cornells have commented publicly yet, and the report doesn’t mention specific damages Mora is seeking. In the meantime, Soundgarden are getting ready to release its sixth studio album (and first in 16 years), ‘King Animal,’ due on Nov. 13. The first single, ‘Been Away Too Long,’ was unleashed last week.
