Avatar, ‘Smells Like a Freakshow’ – Exclusive Video Premiere

Vimeo Get ready to rock as Avatar are unleashing the video for their current single, ‘Smells Like a Freakshow’ and Loudwire is bringing you the exclusive premiere. The Swedish rockers have provided an interesting character study for the video, as each of the band members get to play the role of tormentor and the tormented in the Johan Carlen-directed video. The band tells Loudwire, “The video illustrates inner conflict in an explicit manner, using abuse of unjust power in different contexts. The lyrical themes of downfall, embracing of decadence and failed attempts to escape are pointed out by the fact that ultimately the bad guys win.” Though all of the members go through a rough conflict with themselves in the video, singer Johannes Eckerstrom has perhaps the most compelling battle. One version of himself stands tall and confident, whipping and taunting the other version of himself, which is slumped over and chained to a post before attempting to escape. ‘Smells Like a Freak Show’ is featured on the band’s fourth studio album and first proper American release, ‘Black Waltz.’ Eckerstrom says of their sound, “We’re in this weird field, caught in a triangle between extreme metal, rock ‘n’ roll and what can be described as Avant-garde.” But even with that eclectic nature, the singer says he feels the band has hit their stride. He adds, “We finally came to understand what a good groove is all about and what a great fit it was for our sound.” The ‘Black Waltz’ album is currently available for purchase here . Biopic on Late AC/DC Vocalist Bon Scott Casts Lead Actor + Begins Pre-Production

Warner Brothers / Publicity Photo He was one of the more entertaining characters in rock music and now the short life and times of late AC/DC frontman Bon Scott will be featured on the big screen. After spending the last year getting the cast and crew lined up, pre-production has begun on the biopic. According to Bravewords.com , filmmaker J.R. Getches shot the first-ever dramatic portrayal of the musician on Jan. 14, with actor-singer Rob Liotti handling the role of Scott. The director says, “The story of Bon Scott is a classical tragedy. He travelled across the world, made his mark and then died too young. He was a misfit who found his place in rock music and became immortal pursuing his dream. This is a story worth telling.” While Liotti has been cast in the lead role, the remaining actors for the film have not been revealed. However, it is known that Malcolm and Angus Young, Mark Evans, Phil Rudd and Margaret “Silver” Smith are among the roles that have been cast. Liotti reportedly shed 40 pounds in order to prepare to play Scott. At present, High Voltage Productions Pty. are currently seeking an independent production house to help them complete their vision, but they have stated that the film’s trailer will help serve in fundraising and give a visual perpetuity to investors and the public. 3 Doors Down: The Story Behind the ‘Loser’ Video – Exclusive Premiere

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com As part of the continued ramp up to 3 Doors Down ‘s ‘ Greatest Hits ‘ album, original band members Brad Arnold, Chris Henderson and Todd Harrell are reflecting on the songs and videos that paved the way for their success. The group is once again teaming with Loudwire to showcase the video vignette reflecting on the clip for one of their earliest hit singles, ‘Loser.’ In the piece, guitarist Chris Henderson takes the lead, talking about what it was like to be a new band and having to shoot music videos for the first time. He explains that ‘Loser’ was the first time that he was actually given a solo shot in a music video and the nerves that went into that shoot. Henderson gives his account of things in the vignette below. ‘Loser’ was the second single from the band’s 2000 debut disc, ‘The Better Life,’ and after the huge success of ‘Kryptonite,’ it showed that the band was not going to be a one-hit wonder. Years later, there’s a lot of 3 Doors Down hits, including ‘ Duck and Run ,’ ‘Be Like That,’ ‘ When I’m Gone ,’ ‘Here Without You,’ and ‘It’s Not My Time’ among others. All of those tracks are featured on the forthcoming ‘Greatest Hits’ collection, due Nov. 19. 3 Doors Down will support the upcoming release with a late 2012 co-headlining trek with Daughtry . The tour gets under way with the band’s annual ‘The Better Life’ Foundation concert Nov. 17 in Tunica, Miss., and concludes Dec. 15 in Anaheim, Calif. The Devil Wears Prada, ‘Mammoth’ – Exclusive Video Premiere

Photo by Zac Fisher The Devil Wears Prada ‘s new single ’Mammoth’ is one of the most powerful songs off the band’s critically acclaimed 2011 album ‘Dead Throne,’ and now Loudwire is proud to bring you the exclusive premiere of the tune’s equally powerful music video (watch below). The video offers a visual contrast, as the clip opens with a joyful infant inside an open wooden coffin. As the camera opens to wider shots we see the coffin moving in mid-air in a contradicting world. Below there are fields of green, beautiful nature scenes and a ground lit by a sunny day. Above, ominous clouds hover over the child. As the video continues, that joyful infant grows into a young boy and eventually a elderly man, but the expression on his face has grown solemn, mirroring the intensity of the track and the skies above. The Devil Wears Prada themselves are also featured in the video, as Mike Hranica and Jeremy DePoyster deliver their vocals in silhouette against the backdrop of the burned out sky while the other band members pound away on their instruments. Not only is ‘Mammoth’ featured on the album ‘ Dead Throne ,’ it also has become a favorite at live shows and appears on the band’s ‘ Dead & Alive ‘ concert disc. At present, the Devil Wears Prada are catching a break in the schedule after a successful summer on the Mayhem Festival . The group will pick up their instruments again Oct. 18 when they launch a European trek that will keep them on the road through late November.
