Dark Horse Comics – ‘HOGAB’ No. 3 Variant Cover Stone Sour ‘s ‘House of Gold & Bones’ period of their career is becoming more and more impressive as its multidimensional aspects continue to be revealed through various mediums. Along with the concept taking form of a double album, ‘House of Gold & Bones’ is taking shape as a four-issue comic book series created by frontman Corey Taylor . Pieces of the first and second comic have already been revealed, and Loudwire is proud to premiere a terrifying taste of issue No. 1 along with a pair of covers for issue No. 3. Written entirely by Stone Sour / Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor, the ‘House of Gold & Bones’ comic book series is inspired by the Stone Sour double album of the same name, ‘Part 1′ of which was released on Oct. 22 of last year. ‘House of Gold & Bones Part 2′ is scheduled to drop on April 9, with the record’s first single, ‘Do Me a Favor,’ having already been unleashed for your listening pleasure. As for the comics, the series tells a gripping story. “Trapped in an alternate reality,” begins an official description, “the Human must make his way to the House of Gold & Bones as he is chased by a crazed mob, and taunted by mysterious ally, Allen. What the Human discovers on his journey will be his salvation . . . or his destruction.” ‘House of Gold & Bones’ No. 1 will be available on April 17, and is available for pre-order at this link . Meanwhile, issue No. 2 will see a May 22 release date. The pre-order link for No. 2 was tweeted out by Stone Sour yesterday. There is not yet a fixed date for the third comic to come out, but the exclusive cover, drawn by Jason Shawn Alexander, and the variant cover, created by Steve Morris, are set in ink in the images below. Just like previous artwork revealed for the comics, the ‘House of Gold & Bones’ pages are stunning visually. In pages 8-10 of Issue No. 1 (seen below), the comic’s protagonist is depicted bursting into a small room while on the run from a dark and mystical shadow, which takes form in different humanoid shapes. The final teaser page from the third ‘House of Gold & Bones’ comic ends with the smoke sitting in a chair across from its terrified victim, sparking a match in frightening fashion. In our recent video interview with Corey Taylor, he spoke in depth about the graphic depiction of the ‘House of Gold & Bones’ double album. “I think it’s gonna appeal to people who like a really good story,” says Taylor, “like a mystery, trying to piece together puzzles and whatnot. And I just think it’s a great visual representation of the short story I wrote for the albums.” Check out these exclusive pieces of Dark Horse Comics’ ‘House of Gold & Bones’ issues No. 1 + No. 3: ‘House of Gold and Bones’ Comic No. 1 – Page 8 Dark Horse Comics ‘House of Gold and Bones’ Comic No. 1 – Page 9 Dark Horse Comics ‘House of Gold and Bones’ Comic No. 1 – Page 10 Dark Horse Comics ‘House of Gold and Bones’ Issue No. 3 Cover Dark Horse Comics ‘House of Gold and Bones’ Issue No. 3 Variant Cover Dark Horse Comics Previously Unveiled Covers for Issues No. 1 and No. 2 ? Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Gives His First Post-Rehab Interview to Rolling Stone
Rolling Stone Magazine Green Day ‘s Billie Joe Armstrong is about to re-enter the music world with a spring tour and an appearance at Austin’s South by Southwest on the schedule next month, but the rocker, fresh from a rehab stint, is now speaking about the issues that forced him to seek treatment and leave the touring life last fall. In the new issue of Rolling Stone , the frontman details his years of alcohol and prescription drug abuse. He recalls, “I couldn’t predict where I was going to end up at the end of the night. I’d wake up in a strange house on a couch. I wouldn’t remember how. It was a complete blackout.” Armstrong’s issues came to a head at the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas last year when he delivered an onstage tirade that included the smashing of instruments and a thorough tongue-lashing of festival organizers who had a clock counting down the band’s set time. Shortly after the incident, the band apologized and Armstrong sought treatment. He says of the Vegas show, “I remember tiny things. The next morning, I woke up. I asked [my wife] Adrienne, ‘How bad was it?’ She said, ‘It’s bad.’ I called my manager. He said, ‘You’re getting on a plane, going back to Oakland and going into rehab immediately.’” The full Rolling Stone interview with Armstrong arrives on newsstands this Friday. Trent Reznor Reboots Nine Inch Nails With Members of Jane’s Addiction, King Crimson + More
Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Trent Reznor has just unveiled some drop-to-your-knees-and-praise-the-lord-type of exciting news. He has confirmed that Nine Inch Nails are officially rebooted with a fresh, all-star lineup, blending previous NIN collaborators along with new members plucked from celebrated acts such as Jane’s Addiction , King Crimson and Puscifer . And as if that wasn’t cool enough, Nine Inch Nails are also set to embark on a U.S. tour beginning this summer. The new Nine Inch Nails collective is a prominent one, with seasoned NIN members Alessandro Cortini (keyboards / synth / guitar / bass) and Ilan Rubin (drums) continuing their legacies with Reznor’s brilliant industrial act. In addition to the trio, Nine Inch Nails have welcomed former Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery, King Crimson multi-instrumentalist Adrian Belew and Puscifer / Telefon Tel Aviv musician Josh Eustis into the group. In a note from Trent Reznor posted on Pitchfork , the sonic brainiac explained the newly revamped version of Nine Inch Nails: Nine Inch Nails are touring this year. I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be, and the idea of playing a show. Calls were made to some friends, lots of new ideas were discussed, and a show was booked – which led to another, which somehow led to a lot of shows. The band is reinventing itself from scratch and will be comprised of Eric Avery, Adrian Belew, Alessandro Cortini, Josh Eustis, Ilan Rubin, and me. The first shows will begin this summer, followed by a full-on arena tour of the US this fall, and lots of other dates worldwide to follow through 2014. Lots of details and dates to come. See you soon. TR Prior to all the Nine Inch Nails awesomeness, Trent Reznor’s side project with wife Mariqueen Maandig , Rob Sheridan and Atticus Ross – How to Destroy Angels – will release their debut full-length album, ‘Welcome Oblivion’ on March 5. That outfit has also scheduled a number of North American dates for 2013. HIM Unveil ‘Tears on Tape’ Album Art
Razor & Tie HIM continue to give a little bit more as they get closer to the release of their upcoming ‘ Tears on Tape ‘ album. The band’s website , which has featured a clock splash page for a good portion of the past month, has finally changed to feature a horned art piece, complete with the band’s “heartagram” logo and an empty box. However, fans who type in the words “Tears on Tape” into the box will get a quick flash of the album’s new cover art. What appears is a snake who has wound itself around in a circle with symbols on the body throughout. In the middle of the of the circular snake is the band’s “Heartagram” logo, while outside of the snake piece is blocked artwork that looks similar to the waves of an ocean. You can see the final piece to your left. HIM recently announced an April 30 street date for their eighth studio album. Frontman Ville Valo stated about the upcoming disc, “‘Tears on Tape’ is going to be really organic, straight-in-your-face, super melancholy bulls— [Laughs]. It’s going to be something nobody’s heard before. I’m really happy about it. It sounds great. Remember the soundtrack for ‘Twin Peaks’ that Angelo Badalamenti did? It’s got that similar forlorn, melancholy quality but mixed up with Motörhead. That’s where we’re at! We’re really happy. It’s got that dreamlike quality. It’s like Roy Orbison meeting Metallica.” The band will make their way to the States to promote the effort this spring. Dates for the 2013 North American tour can be seen here .
