System of a Down’s Serj Tankian Offers His Take on the 2012 U.S. Presidential Election

Robert Sebree, Getty Images System of a Down singer and social activist Serj Tankian  offers many opinions in a new in-depth interview. Among the topics discussed is the 2012 Presidential Election. In the fascinating interview with American Rock Scene , Tankian went into detail about America’s current political structure. “Here’s the thing, if you want more choices you have to create more choices,” begins Tankian. “We need more parties and that’s been the case for many, many years … We really need a healthy left wing party in this country like the Green Party or — I’m down to start a socialist party because President Obama is not socialist. The republicans are calling him socialist and I’m like, “come on,” the guy made legislation where you have to buy insurance from private entities. That’s not socialism, there’s no public option. Most of his policies are centrist, just to the right of center, sometimes left of center. That’s not socialism, but apparently, America has no idea what socialism is.” Tankian goes on to speak about Republican candidate Mitt Romney. “Mitt Romney’s policies are, well first of all, he’s gone back and forth between so many different policies. First he supported health care in Massachusetts and then he turned a 360 and said, ‘I don’t like it anymore I was wrong. Everything I thought, was wrong, I repudiate.’ He’s just trying to get the right wingers on his side but ultimately they are failed policies of the past. It hasn’t worked for America. It’s left us in debt, it’s left us in wars. And the fact that he actually even said that he doesn’t care about 47 percent of America. I would f—ing toss him off the ticket now. That’s offensive. His answer was that it wasn’t a classy way of explaining it, he didn’t even refute it. He admitted saying those things.” Check out the rest of Serj Tankian’s interview with American Rock Scene  here . Anthrax Bassist Frank Bello Reflects on One Year Anniversary of ‘Worship Music’

Photo by Matthew Rodgers A year ago,  Anthrax took the metal world by storm with ‘Worship Music,’ the band’s tenth studio album and first in eight years. ‘Worship Music’ also marked the return of vocalist Joey Belladonna, whose prior disc with Anthrax was 1990’s ‘Persistence of Time.’ When Loudwire recently caught up with bassist Frank Bello, we asked him about the one-year anniversary of ‘Worship Music’ and his reflections on the year since it’s release. “What I love about it is that I can listen to it today and a year later it feels as fresh as when it first came out” says Bello. “When we wrote it, let’s face it, there’s so many songs and here’s the deal with this – honestly when we’re going on tour I thought. ‘I want to play more songs from the record that we haven’t played yet’ and that’s the mark of the record that I like and how I know the record is that good for me.” It’s no secret that ‘Worship Music’ is loved by fans and critics alike. Bello spoke on this by saying, “From what I hear other people are saying it, everybody likes the whole record and for anybody to say after 30 years this is our finest record and our best record – that’s the ultimate compliment and that came across in a big way when we released it.” Bello continues, “I want to play so many more songs and we’re certainly not done with this record, I don’t think our fans aren’t done with it yet that’s why we’re not going to rush another record but it certainly won’t be eight years for the next record.” In addition to our conversation with Bello, the entire band released the following the following statement to celebrate the one year anniversary of ‘Worship Music.’ “To our Fans and everyone who has supported Anthrax and Worship Music : It was a little more than a year ago – September 13, 2011 – that  Worship Music  was released, and all of us in Anthrax can’t believe how much has happened since then. Our friends in the press gave the album great reviews, and so many writers singled it out as one of the best metal albums of the year.  Our label just told us that  Worship Music  has just passed the 100,000 mark on albums sold.  Since  Worship Music ‘s release, we’ve played 107 concerts all over the world – in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan, Russia, South America, and the U.K. – we’ve gone home to New York to not only play Yankee Stadium as one of The Big Four, but had September 14 named “Anthrax Day” in The Bronx, where Charlie, Frankie and Rob grew up. We’ve been so lucky as a band, and we know we’re able to do what we do because of you, our fans and all of our supporters in the press, at radio and retail, online, on the road, everywhere.  We’ve had one of the best years of our career, and we share it all with you.  So thank you for making the Anthrax’s “year of Worship Music the best!  More to come! Frank, Scott, Charlie, Rob and Joey” After their stint on this summer’s Mayhem Festival, Anthrax are continuing to support ‘Worship Music’ in North America and Europe. Avenged Sevenfold Unleash New Song ‘Carry On’ for ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ Video Game

Warner Bros. Records Avenged Sevenfold have kept a fairly low profile this year but they did find some time to contribute a new track for the latest edition in the ‘Call of Duty’ video game series. The new Avenged Sevenfold tune ‘Carry On’ will be featured in ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ due out on Nov. 13. Fans don’t have to wait that long to hear the new song though – listen below. Avenged Sevenfold are no strangers to the ‘Call of Duty’ gaming series, crafting ‘Not Ready to Die’ in 2011 specifically for the game’s ‘Call of the Dead’ expansion pack. While nothing official has been released regarding the writing process for ‘Carry On,’ it sounds like it may have followed the same path, with the game’s story line serving as its inspiration. The speedy rocker starts off with raging guitar riffs courtesy of the dueling prowess of guitarists Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance before M. Shadows vocals kick off the epic tune of strength, spirit and power. ‘ Search endlessly, fight ‘til we’re free ,’ Shadows wails out over shredding guitar and pounding drums leading up to a massive guitar solo fit for a royal-as kicking. The vivid imagery that Avenged Sevenfold ceremoniously paint with their music seems to pair perfectly with modern-day video games so it’s no surprise that the ‘Call of Duty’ franchise came calling again. The song certainly provides something for fans to sink their teeth into as the band gets ready to work on a follow-up to 2010′s ‘Nightmare.’ Listen to Avenged Sevenfold’s ‘Carry On’

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Seeking Treatment for Substance Abuse

Spencer Kaufman, Loudwire Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong will reportedly seek treatment for substance abuse following his meltdown onstage at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. At the show, Armstrong went into an expletive-filled tirade after noticing a clock that had counted down to one minute left in their set. At the time, the band was in the middle of their seventh song, ‘Basket Case,’ when Armstrong stopped mid-lyric to begin his rant over the time constraint. After unleashing a verbal assault on officials seated near the clock, and claiming he wasn’t “Justin f—ing Bieber,” the singer proceeded to smash his guitar, flip off those he thought were responsible, and vow to the crowd that Green Day would return before thanking the audience for dealing with the situation. The statement issued by a Green Day representative to E! News read: Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong is seeking treatment for substance abuse. Green Day would like everyone to know that their set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those they offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. The band regretfully must postpone some of their upcoming promotional appearances. The incident comes shortly after the band had to cancel a show in Italy after Armstrong was hospitalized for an undisclosed illness. Mike Dirnt would later reveal that the singer was suffering symptoms of “severe dehydration” and had been vomiting prior to the show cancellation. The band’s new album, ‘¡Uno!,’ is due in stores this Tuesday (Sept. 25). The disc is currently streaming at the group’s Facebook page. Guns N’ Roses’ DJ Ashba Soundtracks Las Vegas Horror Experience, ‘Eli Roth’s Goretorium’

Eli Roth’s Goretorium Guns N’ Roses and Sixx: A.M. guitarist DJ Ashba recently used a bit of downtime to finish work on a new soundtrack for the Las Vegas horror attraction, ‘Eli Roth’s Goretorium.’ The disc, titled ‘Songs for the Demented Mind,’ will be available beginning this Thursday (Sept. 27). Roth, the director of such flicks as ‘Hostel’ and ‘Cabin Fever,’ created the new attraction that will serve as a year-round horror experience. Included are multi-level mazes, high tech Vegas showmanship, plenty of frightful scares and a vintage hotel setting that rivals that which you would see on a Hollywood set. In addition, there will be the ‘Baby Dolls’ lounge that overlooks City Center and the ‘Bloody Mary’s’ bar with gruesome cocktails for all to consume. Ashba used a backstory to develop the music for his soundtrack. The songs follow the journey of a couple that both come from broken homes where they suffered great tragedy and found a connection through their darkest desires. As the description reveals, “This bond helped lift them out of the hellish pit of addiction, psychological torment and released the demons of their past. As they set off on their honeymoon and they escape from the memories of a previous life, the drifters look to the open road in a stolen Chevy convertible leaving behind their broken dreams, seeking to replace them with the hope and promise of a new future in Sin City, Las Vegas.” Unfortunately the couple arrives at “The Delmont” hotel, where they learn they can’t escape the life of hell and are doomed to a gruesome fate. The guitarist completed a 19-track compilation to help tell the story, with songs like ‘Uneasy Greeting,’ ‘Hellevator,’ ’13th Floor,’ ‘Dancing With Demons,’ and ‘Nightmares Do Come True’ among the song titles foreshadowing what’s to come. The soundtrack is available both through DJ Ashba’s website and at the ‘Eli Roth Goretorium’ website .
