Vevo.com Adelitas Way dig further into their ‘Home School Valedictorian’ album with the disc’s fourth single, ‘Alive,’ and they’ve shot an uplifting new video for the song. To give fans a little more detail about what went into the shoot, the group has offered up a new “behind the scenes” feature. In the clip itself, the band is relegated to performance duties, but couldn’t have picked a better location for their shots. “We’re up on a rooftop and we’ve got beautiful Los Angeles behind us, man. It’s a great day. It’s a great day,” says singer Rick DeJesus. The vocalist realizes that they can just kick back and enjoy the day, as the true draw is the storyline for the clip. “The concept’s gonna crush,” says DeJesus. “It’s going to show the love that some of us have not experienced yet and some of us have, so I can’t wait to shoot it. It’ll be great.” Director Justin Baldoni offered a little more insight on where the idea came from, adding, “I loved the song and when I heard the song one of the lines that stuck out was ‘You’re the reason I fight.’ Instantly I thought of cancer and how beautiful I thought it would be to see a guy who is in love with his girlfriend, literally fighting to stay alive.” The official video can be seen here , while the “behind the scenes” feature can be viewed below. ‘Alive’ recently entered the Loudwire Cage Match Hall of Fame . Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Dez Fafara of DevilDriver and Coal Chamber was the guest on Full Metal Jackie’s radio show this past weekend. Fafara spoke all about DevilDriver’s current trek with Gwar and their upcoming European tour with Cannibal Corpse and the band’s forthcoming record, as well as being open to performing more shows with Coal Chamber. Read the full interview with Dez Fafara below: DevilDriver are out on tour with Gwar, this isn’t the first time you guys have toured with together? No, we toured together about six years ago and it was the funnest thing we’ve ever done, especially this time of the season with a bunch of monsters is great. So we’re having a great time. There’s some news semi-recently with a label change so talk to us about about DevilDriver news and what’s happening right now. Well DevilDriver is with Napalm Records now worldwide except over in Australia, where we’re still with Roadrunner Records and we’ve got a new record coming out possibly end Fall time next year. We’re recording in December and I do the vocals in January and the record is sounding really killer. I’m really happy with the songs so far, it’s just real groove heavy . Let’s talk about Coal Chamber for a sec; Coal Chamber reunited last year for what you thought would be just a few shows but now there’s talk of maybe working on some new music. What changed your mind? Well we haven’t talked about new music, there’s a lot of rumors out there. We did Australia and it went incredibly well, we all got along great, we revisited the music and the fans. It was killer. Then we went and did South America and that was just absolutely amazing. We would like to do something in the States but we just don’t know when we’re going to have the time because I’m with DevilDriver right now so we’re just taking it slowly and having a good time with it. Offstage, how are Coal Chamber and DevilDriver different in terms of the collective personalities of each band? Everybody’s different in both bands, Coal Chamber offstage – they’re nuts, those guys are crazy. We’ve settled down a bit. DevilDriver, after shows, everyone’s kind of got a girlfriend or gotten married and this and that. It’s a good time touring with both of them and I’m definitely having a good time doing both sides of my music. Dez, you mentioned earlier that DevilDriver starts recording next month, leaving you with a short amount of time to track vocals before heading to Europe with Cannibal Corpse. How does the pressure of a tight schedule become a creative tool? I think pressure is a creative tool, I think it’s there when you have to do it then you have to get it done and that’s what’s happening with me. In January I’ve got to record and then we go right overseas with Cannibal Corpse and we do a co-headlining thing in February and March so we just pray that it all goes well. [Laughs] We’re going to be doing the record with Mark Lewis, he’s quick, we work well together. He’s already got the new music on him so he knows where we’re going with this. I’m really excited to get trackin’. You just released a song to raise money offset the medical cost of your sister’s cancer treatment. Has that given you any thought of more philanthropic efforts on a broader scale? I love music and I have so many different sides to me and so many different things I listen to and that’s why I have Coal Chamber – it’s a more dark, goth side and that’s why I have DevilDriver it’s more of a heavy side of me. ‘Dark Meadowlark,’ the song I did for my sister Kerri, is a totally different animal than either of those. So we’ll really have to see, time is what really matters – do I have time to do other things and right now I’m really concentrating on DevilDriver. Can you give information on how people can get the song? Sure and it would be very helpful to me and my family if you did so. Power grooves were perfected by Pantera, but Lamb of God came along and injected them with a bit of Swedish tech metal influence. Who knew that a pack of rednecks from below the Maison-Dixon line could cull so much inspiration from Scandinavia? YouTube Ozzy Osbourne ‘s ‘Crazy Train’ has become one of the great songs in metal history and as such, it’s also been one of the most covered tracks in the genre. The latest artist to take a stab at the song is Broadway veteran Rena Strober, who along with acclaimed cellist Tina Guo, serve up a more clean-cut version of the classic song. Strober and Guo both make appearances in the new video, which has been dubbed ‘Crazy Train: The Wizard of Ozzy.’ While the wholesome look of Strober in the clip may not be exactly what some would expect to match the song’s lyrical content, the singer no less delivers the track with a full voice and a hint of “crazy” in her eyes and smile. Meanwhile, Guo is ferociously awesome on the standup electric bass and the fury at which she’s attacking the instrument is embellished a bit by the shaky camera movements. Strober has enjoyed a solid run on the stage, appearing the Broadway version of ‘Les Miserables,’ staging her one-woman show ‘Spaghetti & Matzo Balls,’ and touring the country in a production of ‘Fiddler on the Roof.’ She’s also released her own album called ‘Finding Home.’ Guo has managed to meld both classical playing and a rock/metal fusion into her cello style. She’s worked primarily creating music for motion pictures, video games and television scores. Most recently, Guo has been the featured soloist on the electric cello for Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson ‘The Immortal’ World Tour. She was also featured as part of the Foo Fighters lineup for the Grammy Awards. As for Osbourne, he’s enjoyed a career as both a solo artist and member of Black Sabbath . Facebook: Soundgarden Fans have been anxiously awaiting a new album from Soundgarden for more than 15 years, and the Nov. 13 arrival of ‘King Animal’ is just a couple weeks away. A deluxe edition of the release will also be available at Best Buy that includes extra tracks. In addition to the 13 songs on ‘King Animal,’ demo versions of the songs ‘Black Saturday,’ ‘Bones of Birds,’ ‘By Crooked Steps,’ ‘A Thousand Days Before’ and ‘Worse Dreams’ will also be included. Finished versions of all five songs also appear on the album. ‘Been Away Too Long’ is the first single from ‘King Animal.’ Frontman Chris Cornell describes the song as “a look back at history in sort of a strange atmospheric way.” Cornell called the song’s lyrical narrative a way of saying, “We’ve been gone for 15 years and now we’re back. It’s about time, and we still have something to say about rock music that no one else is saying — and I feel confident about saying that.” So why did the band split up back in 1997? Cornell says , “We broke up because we were bored of the periphery, all of the things that are outside of the band playing music and writing songs, playing shows – that part got really boring.” Bassist Ben Shepherd adds, “The part that is outside of writing songs and playing shows. So it wasn’t the Soundgarden thing, it was the outside of Soundgarden.” Soundgarden will play the British TV show ‘Later With Jools Holland’ on Nov. 6. Graciously giving fans a sneak preview of the film, Steel Panther are unleashed live footage from the song ‘Fat Girl,’ exclusively through Loudwire. The tale of ‘Fat Girl’ has taken many forms, as the inspiration for the song has been attributed various members of Steel Panther over the years.
