Tenth Street Entertainment Motley Crue are one of the most celebrated bands in rock and they’ve certainly enjoyed a fruitful career with plenty of standout records, but which album do you consider their best? We’re asking you to let us know what was your favorite Motley Crue album in this Loudwire Readers Poll. Was it their 1981 debut album, ‘Too Fast for Love’? The disc did feature the title track as well as their longtime favorite ‘Live Wire.’ Or perhaps it was their 1983 breakout ‘Shout at the Devil,’ which began to take hold on a national level. That disc spawned the title cut, plus ‘Looks That Kill,’ ‘Too Young to Fall in Love,’ and a cover of the Beatles classic ‘Helter Skelter.’ There’s also the 1985 album, ‘Theatre of Pain,’ which featured their Brownsville Station cover of ‘Smokin’ in the Boys Room’ as well as the longtime fan favorite ‘Home Sweet Home.’ In 1987, Motley Crue gave us the raucous classic, ‘Girls, Girls, Girls,’ which featured the title track, ‘Wild Side,’ ‘You’re All I Need’ and a live version of the Elvis Presley favorite ‘Jailhouse Rock.’ There’s also the band’s stellar fifth album, ‘Dr. Feelgood,’ which gave us the title cut, plus ‘Kickstart My Heart,,’ ‘Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away),’ ‘Same ‘Ol Situation (S.O.S.)’ and the rock ballad ‘Without You.’ In the ’90s, we got two albums. The first, the self-titled ‘Motley Crue,’ is actually the only Crue disc that didn’t feature Vince Neil on vocals. John Corabi sang on ‘Hooligan’s Holiday,’ ‘Misunderstood’ and more. Neil returned for 1997′s ‘Generation Swine,’ which featured an updated version of ‘Shout at the Devil,’ plus the songs ‘Beauty’ and ‘Afraid.’ And in the 2000s, the Crue has kept things going with 2000′s ‘New Tattoo,’ a disc that spawned the single ‘Hell on High Heels,’ and 2008′s ‘Saints of Los Angeles,’ which gave us the title cut and such other favorites as ‘Mutherf—er of the Year’ and ‘White Trash Circus.’ So, with three decades worth of albums, which is your favorite Motley Crue disc? No Comments »Former Vince Neil Bassist Alan Vine Warns of Legal Action Over IRS Woes
December 20th, 2012 Metalkult Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com / Facebook: Alan Vine Alan Vine, a former bassist and personal assistant for Motley Crue ‘s Vince Neil , is threatening legal action against his former employer if he doesn’t help resolve his current tax issues. Vine, who was a member of Neil’s band in the early 2000s, claims that the singer’s manager wrongly reported his salary, thus leading the IRS to look into his financial background, and he’s asking for some help in clearing things up. Vine spells out his troubles in an open letter to Metal Sludge , claiming that his work with Neil close to a decade ago has landed him in some hot water. Vine says he’s reached out to Neil on several occasions, but has been blown off each time and is not even sure if the singer is aware. However, despite his reluctance to take legal action, it’s now come to a point where something must be done and he’s taking his issues public in hopes that Neil will respond before legal action must be pursued. In his letter, he states: I was Vince’s Bass player and personal assistant at one time. I have been trying to straighten out a tax issue with him for several years now to no avail. I didn’t want to resort to attorney to sue Tenvin Inc., but after several blow offs I CAN’T STAND IT ANY MORE!!! Vince’s scumbag business manager Burt Stein reported me to the IRS (1099) for making a boatload of $$$$ which I was never paid. I didn’t want to sue him, but now he leaves me no choice. He is now taking $$$ away from my two boys that I raise by myself. I am totally disgusted on how a guy like Vince, who could fix this with a simple phone call and avoid the court system, can’t be bothered. I am a stand up guy who never did Vince wrong EVER!!!! I could of sold him out many times over but NEVER DID!!!! The IRS has been holding my tax returns for 7 years now on my Child Tax Credit for Hollywood who is now 7 and also the tax credit for my youngest son Indrid Wolfgang for 4 years as well… DO THE MATH ON THAT!!!!! I grew up listening to Motley Crue and couldn’t believe I was working for one of my heroes and it has come to this. I am sure Vince is completely in the dark about this and has no Idea. I have tried to approach Vince about this SEVERAL times and was met with the same blow off. He told me to tell people when I worked for him. Tonight was the last straw. I contacted Dana Strum via email to get on the list for tonight show in Coconut Creek, Fla. because being a single dad I can’t afford tickets. Dana responded and was gracious enough to leave 2 tickets and 2 after show passes. Thanks Dana. The show was good. You and Zoltan and Blando are rock solid … thanks … After the show was over, I went with the after show passes to the waiting area and Vince’s Guy came and said, ‘Sorry folks band left.’ I got pissed and said, ‘Sure dude, I used to do you job.’ I pulled out my old laminate and said tell Vince he owes me $ and stop bull sh—ing these fans and just say what’s true, like sorry Vince can’t be bothered, have a nice day. Then I left the venue and was driving through the parking lot by the backstage area and saw the band leaving and proceeded to yell through the gate, ‘You f–ing a–hole. I’m gonna sue you,’ and a few other vulgarities. I have mad respect for Motley Crue, Sixx, Tommy, Mick, and Vince, too. It just sucks that my kids have to suffer because of this. I bet if I had a huge set of fake t–s and was dumb as a box of rocks because of the bleached blond hair and had a pair of hotdog lips, I would have had a better result. ‘LIVING ON A JET MAKING LOVE TO SOMEONE ELSE’S DREAM’ … ha, what a joke. After withstanding a barrage of criticism and firing off additional tweets attacking those who challenged him, Neil has now posted that he was “misunderstood” and offered apologies to those he offended. The Twitter feud began when Neil tweeted the following message: “Sad day today. Prayers to all the families. Gun Control!!!” After some ill will was directed at Neil about his stance on guns, the singer responded with the following series of tweets: Why is everyone so concerned with guns? What about the CHILDREN that were MURDERED today! Get your priorities straight!! Fan Reportedly Tried to Fight Vince Neil After Singer Took a Swing at Him
December 11th, 2012 Metalkult Ethan Miller, Getty Images During a solo performance in New Mexico, Motley Crue singer Vince Neil appeared to take a swing at an audience member for no discernible reason. In the footage released exclusively by TMZ, there was no context as to what incited the response from Neil, but we’ve now got the back story to go with the video. The Vince Neil incident took place at the Mountain Gods casino in New Mexico, and now a representative for the Casino has reportedly explained the back story to the thrown punch, along with what occurred after the show had concluded. TMZ reports that the concertgoer in question had repeatedly attempted to grab at Vince Neil while he was singing onstage, which led to a fed up Neil taking a swing at him and kicking him out of the show. Interestingly enough, that wasn’t the end of the story. The fan, who was allegedly intoxicated, tried to get some revenge on Neil at the concert after party. “During the post-performance party at the property,” the unnamed casino rep begins, “the intoxicated fan and his group of friends, who were also visibly inebriated, returned and continually attempted to get close to Vince.” Before the fan and his entourage had the chance to reach Neil, they were thrown off the property by casino security. As a songwriter, Sixx had a hand in creating a majority of the hard-rocking hits Motley Crue have cranked out over the years. Plus he’s shown that even outside of Crue, he’s still a creative force to be reckoned with as the namesake member of the powerful trio Sixx: A.M. He even turned in some solid work in the lesser-known bands 58 and Brides of Destruction. With that in mind, we salute Nikki Sixx’s contributions to the world of hard rock and metal with this list of his best work. So let’s kickstart our countdown of the 10 Best Nikki Sixx Songs: 10 ‘Looks That Kill’ Motley Crue From: ‘Shout at the Devil’ (1983) ‘Looks That Kill’ gave Motley Crue their first national music video exposure and the track introduced fans to Vince Neil ‘s soon-to-be-recognizable voice and some stellar guitar work from Mick Mars. Sixx penned the track, which provides a more sinister feel to describing a gorgeous woman. ‘Looks’ aren’t the only thing that kill with this song. This driving track slays in concert, as well. The chugging opening of ‘Dr. Feelgood’ immediately grabs your attention and doesn’t let go. As for the title and lyrical content, Sixx would tell Rolling Stone , “It had a whole different theme to it. It was called ‘Dr. Feelgood,’ but a whole different thing lyrically. In the end, it was inspired by drug dealers. Is there ever just one? A good drug addict always has more than one dealer.” Listen to ‘Dr. Feelgood’ 4 ‘Wild Side’ Motley Crue From: ‘Girls Girls Girls’ (1987) ‘Wild Side’ is one of the more non-traditional songs in the band’s catalog, with its shifting time signatures and equal parts swinging and rocking moments. But that doesn’t mean it rocks any less. In fact, it’s a live favorite with the band getting to show off more of their skill. Lyrically, the track deals with the band’s own hardships in the Los Angeles music scene and is meant as a rallying cry to those who’ve lived life on the ‘Wild Side.’ Listen to ‘Wild Side’ 3 ‘Life Is Beautiful’ Sixx: A.M. From: ‘The Heroin Diaries’ (2007) ‘Life Is Beautiful’ deserves its spot on the 10 Best Nikki Sixx Songs list as it is arguably his most personal track. The bassist lays his soul bare on this one, expressing the emotions he felt upon almost dying from his drug addiction and what he endured while kicking his habit. Beautifully and powerfully delivered by singer James Michael, the song is one of the most affecting songs in Sixx’s arsenal. Listen to ‘Life Is Beautiful’ 2 ‘Home Sweet Home’ Motley Crue From: ‘Theatre of Pain’ (1985) Look up power ballad in the dictionary and this song should be the definition. ‘Home Sweet Home’ finds drummer Tommy Lee delivering the opening piano notes and Vince Neil joining Sixx and Lee in receiving writing credits. After the opening stanza, the song rocks out with Lee returning to drums and Sixx’s bass work keeping the pace in place of the piano. The song is also notable for arguably the band’s most recognizable guitar solo from Mick Mars. Listen to ‘Home Sweet Home’ 1 ‘Kickstart My Heart’ Motley Crue From: ‘Dr. Feelgood’ (1989) While Nikki Sixx has penned some serious songs about his drug addiction and near-death experience, this one offers a lighter take. It was inspired by the two adrenaline shots needed to revive him after he was clinically declared dead. Sixx told Rolling Stone he initially considered the track “a throwaway,” but that it fit the band’s album better than expected. October 4th, 2012 Metalkult Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com In a comment that just begs for discussion, Motley Crue singer Vince Neil states in a recent interview that his voice is “probably” better than it’s ever been in his career. At age 51, it’s not easy for anyone to keep their voice sounding crisp, or to keep a positive relationship with your bandmates after over 30 years (especially if your band happens to be Motley Crue) but Neil claims that both are still great. First, Neil spoke to ConnectSavannah.com about his broken foot and how it affects his stage performances. “It’s still broke!,” Neil exclaims. “It broke in two spots, but it broke to where you can’t cast it, so I have to wear a boot. But the boot that the doctors gave me keeps it pretty steady, so onstage I can get around. But I’m mostly hopping — well, not hopping, but it’s a big boot so it’s a little awkward. But I didn’t have to cancel any shows or anything, so it’s all good. It’s going to take three to six months to heal, they said.” Speaking on his current relationship with his Motley Crue bandmates, which has been famously complicated over the years, Neil says, “Our relationship’s great. No, we have a great time. On the road, they have the families out, so it’s a different thing. We travel separately because Tommy [Lee] will have his kids out, and Nikki [Sixx] will have his kids, and stuff like that.” Finally, Vince Neil speaks about the current quality of his singing voice. “My voice after all these years is probably the best it’s ever been. And I find that if I take a bunch of time off, it’s harder to kind of get that muscle going again. It’s like after you have a day off, the next day it’s a little tougher to sing some notes than if you had three shows in a row and it’s the third day.
