Spoken, ‘Illusion’ – Exclusive Album Stream

eOne Arkansas rockers Spoken have taken things up a notch with their latest disc, ‘Illusion,’ and you can check it out for yourself with Loudwire’s exclusive album stream, available right here in advance of next Tuesday’s (Feb. 12) release. The hard-hitting rockers definitely grab your attention right out of the gate with a pair of brutal tracks — ‘I Stand Alone’ and ‘Beneath the Surface.’ But it’s not all in-your-face aggression as songs like ‘Don’t Go’ and ‘Through It All’ show off a more melodic side. ‘Through It All’ and the anthemic ‘Take Everything’ are already targeted as singles from the effort. Singer Matt Baird says, “We wanted a record that both fans and musicians would appreciate. We spent so much time on it, rewriting and reworking over a period of years. This is the most fast, heavy, riffy stuff we have done.” The singer cites Slipknot and As I Lay Dying as bands that might have comparable sounds on some of the tracks, but he adds, “In the end, we are a rock band that has really aggressive moments. This is more accessible as we have ever gone, as well as heavier than we have ever gone.” For Spoken, ‘Illusion’ is the culmination of a period of determination and Baird says he’s anxious to share his passion for their work with fans. He explains, “‘Dedicated beyond reason’ has always been our philosophy and it has brought us through the storms to this point. I feel like I have been called to this from above, and this record is another evidence of that in my life. I can’t wait to see the impact it has, the people we will be able to bless in the process.” Spoken will play a handful of February shows around the album’s release and will then join Volbeat for their North American trek in March and April. Ghost Putting Final Touches on 2013 Album

Seven Four Ent. Swedish heavy metal act Ghost have proven to be one of the most bizarre major successes of 2012. Having kept their faces out of the spotlight with an evil Pope frontman and cult-like black hooded robes, Ghost signed a record deal with Seven Four Ent., which is under the Universal umbrella. Luckily for fans, Ghost are now finishing up their first album under that deal, which will be released in 2013. In an official press release, Ghost announced that they are now putting the finishing touches on their as-yet-untitled follow-up to their debut album, ‘Opus Eponymous.’ The debut disc was met with massive acclaim, and rightly so. For those who haven’t listened to Ghost, do yourself a favor and check out their music. Although simple in nature, the unpolished and chilling cadence found in ‘Opus Eponymous’ is not only brilliant, but strangely original. If that description doesn’t convince you, this quote from one of the nameless band members may change your mind: “Hard rock is about who has the biggest d–k and pop music is about who’s got the smallest. I guess we’re pretty average. But in order to have a big d–k, you have to have it mentally.” Meanwhile, Ghost will play a special show this Saturday, Dec. 15, in their hometown of Linköping, Sweden. Check out some of Ghost’s music below and stay tuned for details on their next album as news breaks. Ghost, ‘Elizabeth’

Ill Nino, ‘Epidemia’ – Exclusive Album Stream

Victory Records Ill Niño ‘s new album, ‘Epidemia,’ hits stores on Oct. 22, but fans won’t have to wait until then to hear the disc. The band is teaming up with Loudwire to provide listeners with an exclusive stream of the album. The New Jersey-based rockers took a musical journey with their sixth release, recording in Hoboken, Austin and Denver before wrapping up the disc. Singer Cristian Machado tells Loudwire, “The recording of ‘Epidemia’ was definitely an amazing experience. We’ve set the bar higher than ever before. I truly believe this record is one of Ill Niño’s best efforts. I really can’t wait for our fans to hear the new record. I know it will connect with many of them on a new level. I can definitely say it’s going to be a crusher but will not lack any of the beauty and passion that appears on our early records.” Machado previously stated that this was the time for the band to redefine Latin metal, while drummer Dave Chavarri mentioned that they were delving more into Latin and tribal rhythms that will just expand their boundaries further than they’ve gone before. Ill Niño already gave fans a sample of the new music by recently unveiling a trailer that featured their song, ‘ The Depression .’ Fans also may have caught them building up to the new record over the past month while on tour with Static-X , who recently had to drop off the trek due to frontman Wayne Static’s medical condition. Ill Niño continue to remain on the road — check out their current tour itinerary here . So, listen to Ill Niño’s ‘Epidemia’ below. If you dig the tunes, you can pre-order the album here . Exclusive: The Last Vegas Go Acoustic

Amy Aiello Photography The Last Vegas are bringing back a down-and-dirty sound to rock ‘n’ roll with their latest album ‘Bad Decisions.’ The Chicago-based rockers recently stopped by our office to perform a couple of acoustic tracks off the new disc, as well as a favorite from their previous album, ‘Whatever Gets You Off.’ As for the new album, singer Chad Cherry tells us, “If you’re a rock ‘n’ roll fan, you’re gonna really like [‘Bad Decisions’]. It’s a little more raw than our last record, a little rough around the edges and a little catchier.” If you’re new to the Last Vegas, Cherry has this to say about their vibe: “We go on the road with the likes of Motley Crue, Guns N’ Roses, AC/DC, Buckcherry, so if you’re a fan of hard rock, you’re gonna be a fan of the Last Vegas.” The Last Vegas have a handful of dates scheduled for the remainder of the year, with a CD release show set for their hometown of Chicago on Friday, Oct. 5.
