As I Lay Dying Take to the Stars With ‘No Lungs to Breathe’ Lyric Video

Metal Blade As I Lay Dying ‘s ‘No Lungs to Breathe’ single speaks to surviving amidst isolated and adverse conditions, so it makes sense that the lyric video for the song is shot against the backdrop of the stars in outer space, with a mythical winged creature holding the key to it all. Guitarist Nick Hipa created the video, which just debuted via the band’s website. In addition, Hipa’s got some wicked guitar licks rocking the song to the core. The hard-hitting and speedy rocker talks about overcoming the odds, with frontman Tim Lambesis screaming, “ With no lungs to breathe / I had almost lost everything ” in the song’s chorus. ‘No Lungs to Breathe’ arrives just as the band are heading out on the road in support of their ‘ Awakened ‘ album. The group is co-headlining the tour with The Devil Wears Prada , with support from For Today , the Color Morale and the  Chariot on select dates. To see the remaining stops, click here . The new single follows ‘ A Greater Foundation ,’ which impacted last fall. The momentum from the single and their ‘Awakened’ album led to fans voting As I Lay Dying the 2012 Metal Band of the Year in the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards. Spoken, ‘Illusion’ – Exclusive Album Stream

eOne Arkansas rockers Spoken have taken things up a notch with their latest disc, ‘Illusion,’ and you can check it out for yourself with Loudwire’s exclusive album stream, available right here in advance of next Tuesday’s (Feb. 12) release. The hard-hitting rockers definitely grab your attention right out of the gate with a pair of brutal tracks — ‘I Stand Alone’ and ‘Beneath the Surface.’ But it’s not all in-your-face aggression as songs like ‘Don’t Go’ and ‘Through It All’ show off a more melodic side. ‘Through It All’ and the anthemic ‘Take Everything’ are already targeted as singles from the effort. Singer Matt Baird says, “We wanted a record that both fans and musicians would appreciate. We spent so much time on it, rewriting and reworking over a period of years. This is the most fast, heavy, riffy stuff we have done.” The singer cites Slipknot and As I Lay Dying as bands that might have comparable sounds on some of the tracks, but he adds, “In the end, we are a rock band that has really aggressive moments. This is more accessible as we have ever gone, as well as heavier than we have ever gone.” For Spoken, ‘Illusion’ is the culmination of a period of determination and Baird says he’s anxious to share his passion for their work with fans. He explains, “‘Dedicated beyond reason’ has always been our philosophy and it has brought us through the storms to this point. I feel like I have been called to this from above, and this record is another evidence of that in my life. I can’t wait to see the impact it has, the people we will be able to bless in the process.” Spoken will play a handful of February shows around the album’s release and will then join Volbeat for their North American trek in March and April. Check out their tour dates here . Take a listen to Spoken’s ‘Illusion’ album below and if you like what you hear, you can order the album or any of its bundle packages here . As I Lay Dying Win Metal Band of the Year in the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards

Photo by Ty Watkins Metal Band of the Year was one of the closest categories in the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards, but during the final moments of voting, metalcore titans As I Lay Dying surged ahead to claim the win. As I Lay Dying took a comfortable lead over bands such as Anthrax and Machine Head early in the voting, but one band that they couldn’t quite shake was Lamb of God. After many lead changes made the possible result too close to call at times, As I Lay Dying fans rallied together and launched the band into a slick first-place finish, earning over 28 percent of the votes. Congratulations to your 2012 Metal Band of the Year champs, As I Lay Dying. Watch out for them in 2013 on a co-headlining tour with the Devil Wears Prada. Asking Alexandria’s Danny Worsnop Offers Video Update on Torn Vocal Cords

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Asking Alexandria ‘s Danny Worsnop is speaking, but is still on the path to recovery from a recent vocal cord tear that knocked him out of action just prior to the holidays. The band was out on tour in early December when Worsnop’s voice finally gave out, though the band was able to salvage their New York stop of the Monster Energy Outbreak tour when the vocalists for support bands As I Lay Dying , Memphis May Fire, I See Stars and Atilla stepped in to save the day. After seeking treatment from vocal specialist Dr. Sugerman, Worsnop feels he is on the path to recovery and he decided to let fans in on the process by shooting a video with the good doc showing one of his recent sessions. The clip was filmed approximately two weeks after the singer’s initial treatment. In it, the viewer gets to see Worsnop’s visit with Sugerman, the singer’s description of the flex camera and the doctor’s eventual shots of Worsnop’s vocal cords. The good news is that Worsnop has some time to rest his vocal cords as the band has finished most of their forthcoming album and have been enjoying the holiday break without any immediate dates looming.
