The Acacia Strain Enter Death Match Hall of Fame

Rise Congratulations are in order for the  Acacia Strain . Their continued success in the Death Match has brought the Mass. band to the Hall of Fame after four consecutive victories. The Acacia Strain and their track ‘Victims of the Cave’ first took on Parkway Drive to capture their first win, and soon after put grind greats Pig Destroyer to rest in Round Two. Other victims of the song include Fear Factory, who put up a respectable and mechanical fight, and Ill Nino who were the final act to be stricken down by the Acacia Strain. Having achieved four consecutive wins, we at Loudwire now declare ‘Victims of the Cave’ as immortal in our Death Match Hall of Fame. The Acacia Strain are now one of only seven bands to have made it to the sacred Hall, which also is home to bands such as Gojira, Meshuggah and Katatonia. Now that ‘Victims of the Cave’ has been retired, we’ve got two new bands entering the Death Match in our next round, and it’s one of our heaviest contests yet between two true metal legends. Get ready for Destruction vs. Napalm Death. The Acacia Strain, ‘Victims of the Cave’

The Acacia Strain vs. Ill Nino – Death Match

Rise / Victory With another victory claimed by the Acacia Strain , the band have racked up three consecutive wins in Loudwire’s Death Match. With one more, the band’s track ‘Victims of the Cave’ will be declared immortal in our Death Match Hall of Fame. The Acacia Strain have managed to put away Parkway Drive, Pig Destroyer and Fear Factory, but their greatest challenge lies in this final bout. Ill Nino recently recruited Emmure vocalist Frankie Palmeri to contribute to the new track ‘La Epidemia.’ The track from Ill Nino’s sixth full-length album uses Palmeri to explore a heavier sound, with the dual vocal attack giving the song a more pulverizing appeal. Ill Nino’s ‘Epidemia’ album was released in October through Victory Records. Can the Acacia Strain pull off one final victory to cement their place in the Death Match Hall of Fame? Or will Ill Nino snatch away a win to begin their own trail to the Hall? The choice is yours. Vote for your favorite track below! (This Death Match ends on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 10AM ET. The Acacia Strain vs. Fear Factory – Death Match

Rise / Candlelight The Acacia Strain have knocked out yet another band in the last Death Match. Having defeated the grind masters of Pig Destroyer , the Acacia Strain have two wins under their belt, but they face an incredibly difficult challenge on the path to win number three. Fear Factory have been unleashing industrialized thrash for over 20 years. The band issued their eighth full-length album, ‘The Industrialist,’ in June of this year, and have just released a music video for the record’s title track. The sound is still very much Fear Factory, and provides deadly ammo for the band in this week’s Death Match. Can the Acacia Strain continue their winning streak? Or will Fear Factory melt them down? Your votes decide the winner. Pick your favorite song in the poll below! (This Death Match ends on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 10AM ET. Fans can vote once per hour! The Acacia Strain vs. Pig Destroyer – Death Match

Rise / Relapse In a Death Match that featured two first-time competitors, the Acacia Strain was able to defeat Australian metalcore act Parkway Drive. With one win already under their collective belt, the Acacia Strain now face a group of underground grind legends. Pig Destroyer are one of the foremost innovators of the extreme when it comes to 2000s metal. Having already released a slew of masterpieces this century, Pig Destroyer have added yet another accomplishment to their brutal mantle with the album ‘Book Burner’ and a new lyric video for the song ‘Burning Palm.’ Pig Destroyer fans have been waiting for over five years for a new album, but it was worth the wait, as ‘Book Burner’ proves to be another brilliant work. Can the Acacia Strain pull off another win? Or will Pig Destroyer stomp out their competitors? Your votes decide who moves on. Make your choice! Gojira vs. Cradle of Filth – Death Match

Roadrunner / Nuclear Blast Gojira have cracked out another win in our latest Death Match, beating out black metal legends Enslaved by a respectable margin. We needed to find a massive and worthy opponent for Gojira this week, because if the French metallers win one more match, their song ‘The Axe’ will be declared as immortal in the Death Match Hall of Fame. Gothic extreme metal veterans Cradle of Filth enter this week’s Death Match, creating a huge battle pitting France against England. Cradle of Filth are set to release their 10th studio album, ‘The Manticore and Other Horrors,’ on Halloween Eve, with the track ‘For Your Vulgar Delectation’ having already been unveiled to the delight of their eager fans. Will Gojira chop their way into the Death Match Hall of Fame? Or will Cradle of Filth scare the French metallers away? The choice belongs to the fans. Vote for your favorite track in the poll below. Gojira vs. Enslaved – Death Match

Roadrunner / Nuclear Blast The battle between Gojira and As I Lay Dying became pretty fierce in its closing hours, with the Death Match songs being separated by less than a one-percent difference. As the match came to an end, Gojira received a huge push from their fans, clinching the competition in its final moments. With two wins under their belt, Gojira and ‘The Axe’ will now face one of black metal’s most legendary acts. Enslaved enter this week’s Death Match with their new track ‘Veilburner’ from the band’s upcoming 12th album, ‘RIITIIR.’ The veteran Norwegian black metallers have been going strong since 1991 and have been releasing a steady stream of albums since their 1994 debut, ‘Vikingligr Veldi.’ Can Gojira make their next step on their way to Death Match Hall of Fame immortality? Or will the black metal legends freeze the French metal outfit in their tracks? The choice belongs to you. Vote for your favorite track now! (This Death Match ends on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 10AM ET.
