Facebook: Drowning Pool It looks as though Drowning Pool are maintaining their aggression with new singer Jasen Moreno leading the way. The new track ‘One Finger and a Fist’ is an amped up rocker and Drowning Pool are exclusively premiering the lyric video for the song right here at Loudwire. ‘One Finger and a Fist’ could arguably be one of the band’s most confrontational songs, boasting the lyrics, “ I’ve got news for you / you’re not the first one, won’t be the last / Won’t take abuse from you / I see you run, son, you’re running fast .” The band also states in the chorus, “ One finger and a fist / I’ll claw my way out any situation .” For the video, the lyrics fly at the viewer at rapid speed while set against the backdrop of computer generated visual effects mimicking hands, arms and a certain finger that appear occasionally independent of a full body. ‘One Finger and a Fist’ was offered as a free download for a limited period back in December. It’s also one of the key tracks to their first album with Moreno on vocals. Other cuts that have been heard since Moreno took over include ‘In Memory Of …, ‘ a song that was issued as a tribute to the band’s original frontman, the late Dave Williams, and their recent single, ‘ Saturday Night .’ Drowning Pool will hit the road in February, sharing the stage with another act employing a new vocalist — Flyleaf . The trek runs through March 24. Details on Drowning Pool’s new album are expected very shortly. 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl You may need to strap on a helmet when you get a load of the songs in the 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl. We’re taking some of the hardest hitting tracks and pairing them off in order to determine the best song to get you amped for a football game. In this first-round matchup, we’re pitting Metallica ‘s classic ‘Seek and Destroy’ against the Danish rockers Volbeat and their recent hit ‘A Warrior’s Call.’ Metallica’s ‘Seek and Destroy’ is a natural choice, with its super-charged riffage, hard-hitting Lars Ulrich drums and a song title that might as well be a motto for most defensive players in the league as they attempt to take out the other team’s offensive weapons. As the song says at its kickoff, “ We’re scanning the scene / In the city tonight / We’re looking for you / To start up a fight .” Volbeat, meanwhile, provide what seems to be an anthem describing most football players’ mentality. ‘A Warrior’s Call’ stands out with its powerful drums and driving guitars gaining momentum right up until the song explodes. The lyrics also bring it home, with the motivational message “ Breaking your record and breaking your bones / Born a warrior with a code / A champion feeding your face with a fist / You will feel all his power! ” leading the way. Roger Kisby, Getty Images There’s just a few more days to wait until Alice in Chains issue their new single ‘ Hollow ‘ in full, but for now, fans can get their first taste of the track by checking out a song snippet that’s been posted on Amazon. The brief clip finds the band mining familiar territory, with trudging guitars and moody vocals leading the way. While it’s hard to glean exactly what the context of the song will be from just a few lines, fans can analyze the following stanza that appears for clues: “ Running in circles, slowing down / rolling against the closing now / Easy to feed off the weakened thing / Harder to say what I really mean .” Though the song snippet tails off after the last line, it’s apparent during the fade that the style shifts into something a little more forceful and dynamic after the final word is uttered. Listen to the song snippet here . Alice in Chains have spent most of the year working on new music, but the roots of the album actually date back to 2011. Heart ‘s Ann Wilson , a close friend of the band, told Ultimate Classic Rock last year, “I went over to visit them in the studio where they were working on some new stuff — they sound amazing! How can Jerry [Cantrell] not sound amazing, but I mean, it really does — they’re a monster.” The band has been making the lead-up to the release of ‘Hollow’ an interactive event, posting lyrical phrases on Instagram over the past week and asking fans to submit photos they’ve taken or created that are inspired by the lyrics. The project will culminate this Tuesday (Dec. 18), the same day the song hits the airwaves, with fans being able to visit the band’s website and see the fan-submitted photos inspired by the tune’s lyrics coming together with the song. As of yet, the band have not revealed a title for their new album nor a release date, but the offering of the late year single is a sign that the official news on the full record will be coming soon.
