Liz Ramanand, Loudwire He’s coming to your town, his band will help you party down! That’s right, Rob Zombie is covering the Grand Funk Railroad classic, ‘We’re an American Band’ on his upcoming album, ‘ Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor ,’ which is due in stores April 23. More details have been announced regarding the upcoming disc, including the revelation that Zombie is covering the ’70s-era favorite. The song would seemingly be a solid fit for Zombie given how much praise his heaped upon the current lineup of his band. The vocalist has been gung-ho about how he feels concerning the new record, and he adds about the latest effort, “I think for the first time this new album perfectly merges the old days of White Zombie with the future of what I am doing now. I think fans of both will agree this is the perfect combo of both worlds.” In addition to ‘We’re an American Band,’ Zombie revealed that the lead single from the upcoming disc will be the song ‘Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Super Town.’ It will be joined on the album by tracks with such awesome titles as ‘Ging Gang Gong De Do Gong De Laga Raga,’ ‘Lucifer Rising’ and ‘Behold! The Pretty Filthy Creatures.’ The album will be the first release on Zombie’s new label Zodiac Swan. At present, no tour dates have been revealed in support of the new disc, though Zombie did spend quite a bit of time on the road last fall as part of the ‘ Twins of Evil ‘ tour with Marilyn Manson . He will, however, be one of the honorees at the upcoming Revolver Golden Gods Awards in Los Angeles on May 2. No Comments »Marilyn Manson Files Defamation Lawsuit Against Woman Who Claimed They Were Engaged
January 30th, 2013 Metalkult Frazer Harrison / Allen Berezovsky, Getty Images Earlier this month, Marilyn Manson reached out via his lawyer demanding a public apology from Seraphim Ward (real name Yolanda Tharpe) for spreading false stories about him in the press. Now that that hasn’t happened, he’s following through on a defamation lawsuit against Ward. According to the Hollywood Reporter , the complaint was filed Tuesday (Jan. 29) in Los Angeles Superior Court. Manson claimed he was the target of “a months-long campaign of defamation and harassment.” It’s also stated that Manson does not know Ward, whose occupation is listed as musician and independent occult filmmaker in the complaint. Ward’s claims first got attention when she stated in a widely circulated story that she was engaged to the rocker. Though Manson and his representatives denied he even knew Ward, that apparently didn’t stop her from continuing to make claims concerning Manson, including accusations that he is ‘pro-Nazi’ and racist. According to the filing, Ward did eventually retract the engagement announcement, but later made public accusations that Manson refused to marry her because he “did not want to be seen with [African-American] women” like her. She also claimed that he was responsible for the death of her two cats and that he was stalking her. The rocker is reportedly seeking $50,000 relating to five cases of defamation, misappropriation of common law right of publicity, unlawful use of Manson’s name for commercial advantage, and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. The singer’s ‘Born Villain’ album took home a whopping 31.7 percent of the overall vote. ‘Born Villain,’ which featured the hit lead single ‘No Reflection’ and the follow-up tracks ‘Slo-Mo-Tion’ and ‘Hey, Cruel World …,’ led Manson to a landslide victory, with Stone Sour’s ‘House of Gold & Bones, Pt. 1′ being the closest competitor at just shy of 19 percent of the vote. The only other act to receive a double-digit percentage was Halestorm’s ‘The Strange Case Of …,’ which placed third with 14.5 percent of the final tally. Add in winning Loudwire’s Rock Video of the Year for ‘No Reflection’ and 2012 was a pretty good year for Manson. The musician will kick off 2013 on the road with Butcher Babies, continuing the promotion of the ‘Born Villain’ disc. January 16th, 2013 Metalkult Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Marilyn Manson rebounded in a big way in 2012 and the fans responded by making his ‘No Reflection’ clip the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards Rock Video of the Year. With thousands of votes collected over the past month-and-a-half, Manson won one of the closer battles in this year’s Loudwire Music Awards, with the ‘No Reflection’ video taking just over 38 percent of the vote. The clip bested Slash’s animated ‘Bad Rain’ promo, which put up a good fight with just shy of 34 percent of the vote. Much like in his video, Manson was the one left standing at the end and congrats are in order for the rocker. The vocalist and his band are hitting the road to kick off 2013, sharing the stage with up-and-coming rockers Butcher Babies. With momentum on his side, it will be fun to watch Manson’s comeback continue in 2013. January 12th, 2013 Metalkult Frazer Harrison / Allen Berezovsky, Getty Images Marilyn Manson has had enough and TMZ reports the rocker has reached out via his lawyer to Seraphim Ward demanding a public apology for the false stories she’s spread about him, including one last year that was widely circulated about the couple being engaged . Shortly after the engagement story came out last year, Manson denied it and has maintained that he has “no romantic or other association” with Ward. At the time, Manson’s publicist issued a statement that read: “Marilyn Manson is not engaged as reported erroneously by Life & Style. Manson has never met Seraphim Ward and does not know who she is.” But that didn’t stop the stories or commentary from Ward hitting media outlets, with her claims of his alleged racism and Nazi sympathy making for tabloid fodder. In an attempt to stop Ward’s publicity-seeking ways, Manson’s lawyer has fired off a letter demanding an apology and threatening legal action should she continue to talk publicly about their supposed relationship. With the legalities being taken care of, Manson is back to focusing on his career. The vocalist returns to the road Jan. 18 in Milwaukee, supporting his ‘Born Villain’ album.
