Hollywood Undead Unveil ‘Notes From the Underground’ Album Artwork + Track Listing

A&M / Octone The return of Hollywood Undead is upon us, as the band has now revealed the artwork and track listing for their forthcoming ‘Notes From the Underground’ album. The latest news follows the recent revelation that the disc would arrive on Jan. 8 and the current success of the new single, ‘We Are.’ The band recently announced that they were shooting a video for the track with Slipknot ‘s Shawn “Clown” Crahan stepping behind the camera to film the clip . As for the artwork (seen to the left), it offers the look of a weathered book with stenciled orange lettering set against a solid red backdrop with an image of a bird carrying its prey. The disc itself consists of 11 new tunes, led by ‘ We Are .’ One of the band’s vocalists, Johnny 3 Tears, recently stated of the track and its background, “The song is about collective resistance. It’s the silent majority, but we’re using Los Angeles as the backdrop. Every time we work with Danny [Lohner], he takes our music to the next level. He’s willing to go as far outside the box as we are. As a whole, it’s a good introduction to ‘Notes From The Underground’ because it encompasses the band idealistically. Think of it as an ode to our misled youth.” The set also features the lead off track, ‘Dead Bite,’ which the band already previewed, as well as such standouts as ‘Another Way Out’ and ‘Believe.’ The full track listing is provided below. Hollywood Undead, ‘Notes From the Underground’ Track List: 1. ‘Dead Bite’ 2. ‘From the Ground’ 3. ‘Another Way Out,’ 4. ‘Lion’ 5. ‘We Are’ 6. ‘Pigskin’ 7. ‘Rain’ 8. ‘Kill Everyone’ 9. ‘Believe’ 10. ‘Up in Smoke’ 11. ‘Outside’ [button href=”http://loudwire.com/hollywood-undead-notes-from-the-underground-webisode-1-exclusive-premiere/” title=”Next: Watch a Hollywood Undead ‘Notes From the Underground’ Webisode” align=”center”]

Hurt + Smile Empty Soul Unite for Joint Cover of Alice in Chains’ ‘No Excuses’

Facebook: Hurt / Ethan Miller, Getty Images Rock bands covering songs by other acts is not really out of the ordinary, but something that doesn’t happen everyday is a pair of rock bands teaming up on a cover. That was the case recently for hard rocking outfits Hurt and Smile Empty Soul , who found themselves spending a November day in Michigan covering the Alice in Chains classic ‘No Excuses.’ Radio station Banana 101.5 reports that a day prior to their performance at The Machine Shop in Flint, Mich., the two acts made their way to Rochester Hills’ 37 Studios to lay down the track. The Matt Dalton-produced cut found the two acts keeping in the primarily acoustic roots of the original, though they did add a few unique touches to make the song their own. In particular, the percussion on the track has a more upbeat and funky feel to it throughout. Though official release plans have not been announced, Banana 101.5 reports that the song will be available for download at some point, with the proceeds likely tied to a charitable effort of some kind. New Limp Bizkit Song ‘Lightz (City of Angels)’ Surfaces Online

YouTube Limp Bizkit  are back with a new song, ‘Lightz (City of Angels),’ which surfaced online over the weekend. A music video for the song had appeared on YouTube but was since taken down. However, you can still listen to the tune below. Frontman Fred Durst  sent out a  tweet to fans congratulating him on the track, saying, “Thank you, but it is NOT our first single / video. It was leaked prematurely.” The song ‘Lightz’ is a little bit more poppy than some of the group’s late ’90s rock efforts and shows some evolution in their sound. Durst both sings and raps on the track, and it has more of a anthemic yet melodic feel to it. However, there is definitely something for the rock fans as Wes Borland gets in a solid guitar solo midway into the track. The tune will likely appear on the band’s upcoming Cash Money records debut album, ‘Stampede of the Disco Elephants.’ In related news, the group is working on a new music video for the ‘Urban Assault Version’ of ‘Ready to Go,’ their collaboration with rapper Lil’ Wayne . The band has posted shots from the video shoot here , here , here , and here . CBS Developing ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ Sitcom With ‘Big Bang Theory’ Writer

DGC It’s been over two decades since Nirvana unleashed their game-changing magnum opus ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit.’ The title remains synonymous with greatness, as well as being one of the most recognizable phrases in the lexicon of pop culture. Kurt Cobain famously despised the accessibility of the track, along with the bro-dudes and frat boys who would sing along at Nirvana shows. With that in mind, we’re sure that Cobain would love this move: CBS has just begun to develop a sitcom with the working title ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit.’ CBS is well-known for putting together highly successful sitcoms that adhere to the classic ‘laugh track’ and from-the-script style of comedic television. Many Nirvana fans would agree that Kurt Cobain wouldn’t have wanted CBS to use his song title to capitalize on the track’s phenomenal success, but Dave Goetsch, a writer from CBS’s ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ is developing a show with a current title based on the classic tune. Goetsch also hones credits from the shows ‘Grounded for Life’ and ’3rd Rock From the Sun.’ “The multicamera comedy revolves around an 18-year-old budding entrepreneur,” describes the Hollywood Reporter , “who forgoes Harvard and instead opts to launch a multibillion-dollar Internet company from his garage with the assistance of his sister, best friend and his 1990s indie-rock parents.” We’ll see if the ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ working title sticks. If it does, it might ruffle a few feathers in the Nirvana camp and among the band’s fans. Stay tuned for more on CBS’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ as the news breaks. Nonpoint, ‘Nonpoint’ – Album Review

Razor & Tie Nonpoint have just released their self-titled seventh studio album. The new disc is the first to feature guitarists Rasheed Thomas and Dave Lizzio as well as bassist Adam Woloszyn. Nonpoint come out swinging with the first track ‘Lights, Camera, Action.’ Frontman Elias Soriano’s signature vocal style of a quick deliverance of lyrics accompanies by some serious melody. Speaking of melody, Soriano shows off his melodic vocals in the track ‘The Way I See Things’ as he sings the chorus, “ The way I see things / I could use a serious change of scenery / The ways I see things / I’d be better off / Better off if I leave .” Even though the song ‘I Said It’ is not the strongest example of Nonpoint’s usual catchy chorus on the album, it does show another level of Soriano as the track displays aggressive screaming and the vigorous drums skills of Robb Rivera. The lead single off of the album, ‘Left For You,’ is filled with deep riffs, deep bass lines and soaring vocals with a certain softness. Two minutes into ‘Left For You,’ Soriano slows the pace down as he croons, “ I’m trying to lead you away but i can’t / ’cause trying to keep us together is something that i know i can’t… do / I know I can’t do / Without you .” Additionally, the album is filled with faster-paced anthems where Soriano spits out lyrics with venom on tracks like ‘International Crisis,’ ‘That Day’ and ‘Temper,’ which features lyrics that shout as much warning as the galloping drum patterns and stern guitar solo and riffs. Guitarists Thomas and Lizzio also offer some enticing riffs on ‘Go Time’ that ring like an alarm, while Rivera shows off his serious skills behind the skins on the song ‘Independence Day,’ which is a prime example of the way Soriano merges both screams and harmony. There is a certain balance to ‘Nonpoint,’ which weaves in mid-tempo tracks that show off the melodic flow of the band such as ‘Another Mistake’ and ‘Pandora’s Box.’ Another notable track is ‘Ashes,’ which is definitely one of the more eclectic tracks on ‘Nonpoint,’ complete with Woloszyn’s tantalizing bass lines as the album ends as strong as it begins. There’s no doubt this forceful record will make you sweat and even pull through those dreadful last 15 minutes at the gym, especially since Nonpoint, both the album and band, are filled with a continuous flow of unyielding energy. ?
